Chapter 12: Possibility of another Beyonder, worse, he's from Criminal pathway.
The next day, Adam attended school as usual and studied as much as he could. The cultural class was something he had studied for over 12 years, except when he attended college, which refined what he had learned.
This part wasn't important because there was something he needed to do today.
Join the Spirit Pagoda and quickly advance to Great Soul Master.
An additional increase in spiritual power could increase my chances of surviving the loss of control. Whether it's true or not, it's worth a try.
"I could also try stealing the Tang Sect's Purple Demon Pupil technique and any method to train my spiritual power. Maybe by strengthening my mind, I can prevent myself from losing control."
That technique has merit, and a very good one in this world.
However, I'm unable to join the Tang Sect. They're arms dealers suited for the Savant pathway, not something that can help me test whether the potions system works.
But there are some ways we can work around that. The Spectator Pathway is a path that delves into human consciousness and subconsciousness. With a Sequence 6 hypnotist, or even a Sequence 7 psychiatrist, I could learn about these two techniques from Xie Xie.
Not Tang Wulin; that boy is protected by Tang San's hidden consciousness. If he did something funny to him, there would be a lot of problems that would arise.
But Xie Xie is different. He's a funny person and kind of a joke character in the original story. Kind of like a gag character whose main purpose is to lighten the mood.
This kind of person is easy to manipulate and easy to fall into traps.
Adam was about to walk towards the Spirit Pagoda in Aolai City but stopped and hid behind a tree. He looked at the young man he met yesterday, who was sitting there playing with a flip knife.
He's waiting for something or someone...
Adam hid behind a tree, observing from a distance.
"That kid is definitely off. He is not a soul master because there isn't any soul power in his body. I'm still not sure whether he is also a beyonder or not. But if he is a beyonder, from what path are you?"
Definitely not from Seer, sleepless, Mystery Prayer, or any pathway with high enough spirituality.
If he looks closely, the strength that he possesses, his ability to use a flip knife, and his confidence, is likely a hunter, warrior, or criminal pathway.
These three pathways are lacking in their spirituality, and difficult to identify them even as a beyonder. They only have some improvement on physical strength and combat ability, and are no different than an ordinary human before they were promoted to sequence 7.
"If he were from another pathway, I could feel his aura, but unfortunately, even with spirit vision, he only shows red and mixed with orange colors, but there is no sign of his spirituality soaring."
"But I'm more sure, but he is somehow becoming a criminal pathway."
Adam glanced at Tang Wulin, who seemed to be running and about to rush back to his uncle Mang Tian's studio to learn blacksmithing, but soon, that young man from before stood up and stopped Tang Wulin.
The two argued for a while before that young man knocked Tang Wulin to the ground.
"Should I come out and help him?" Adam pondered for a moment.
The Silver Dragon King was definitely sealed, and only the other personality remained.
And this was a great time to make Tang Wulin owe him a big favor and make a good impression. From here, he could gain this naive boy's trust and help him act as a telepath and psychiatrist.
"Sure, this will hinder my acting as a spectator, but there's no other way. This is the best time to act."
Adam immediately walked from behind a tree to approach Tang Wulin, who was being lifted by these two lackey young men.
"Hahaha… not so tough now, huh? Try this!"
An uppercut struck Tang Wulin's chin, drawing blood from his jaw.
Tang Wulin gritted his teeth, his eyes filled with resentment. He gritted his teeth, his mouth bleeding. "I won't forgive you... the Federation..."
"Oh, really? What would you tell the police? That a Soul Master like you was beaten down by an ordinary man like me?" The young man chuckled as he gripped Tang Wulin's face.
"If that's what you want to do, then go ahead. I have no problem with it."
The young man wanted to throw a punch into Tang Wulin's face but stopped when he turned around to see another blond kid in a white priest robe that was so distinctive and unique.
"You should probably stop all of this." Adam sighed softly as he saw all the expressions this young man was making.
The moment he entered this stage, Adam could feel the digestion of Spectator beyonder characteristic had been stopped. But this was a price he must pay if he wanted to make a good impression on Tang Wulin.
"The hell do you want. Are you also this pretty boy's friends?"
Adam looked at the two young men beside Tang Wulin, who looked terrified. When they saw Adam's gaze directed at them, they shook their heads slowly.
"You can say so. He's my classmate at Hongshan Academy."
The young man glanced at Adam and threw a powerful punch at his face, but Adam blocked it with his crossed arms. He took a few steps back, feeling the pain in his hand.
This physical enchantment isn't as strong as I thought.
Of the three pathways that focus on physical enchantment but lack spirituality, Adam could be certain that this man was either a warrior or a criminal.
The Hunter pathway was out of the question because this kind of punch, accurate and aimed directly at the face, couldn't be delivered by an amateur. So, besides physical enchantment, this young man also gained combat experience from the Beyonder characteristic in his body.
The Hunter pathway doesn't gain combat experience beyond hunting knowledge. It only includes how to use and make traps, knowledge of herbs and how to make simple medicines, and knowledge of jungle survival.
But combat experience, there are only two pathways that come with this kind of experience.
A Warrior and a Criminal.
"Yeah, he's definitely a criminal pathway. If he were a warrior, I wouldn't be able to survive this guy's punch, and he wouldn't stop his attack so easily," Adam thought as he continued to observe the young man before him.
He seemed surprised that Adam could react to the attack and block it. But soon his lips curled up and showed a creepy smile.
There was excitement on his face, but also anger in those eyes. A contradiction of emotions that seemed free was visible on his face.
The young man looked excited and darted toward Adam, swinging his flip knife at Adam's neck, eyes, and even heart.
He targeted all the vital organs with terrifying precision, like a complete veteran used to handling such a weapon.
Adam continued to retreat, not daring to engage A criminal at close range. Confronting a lunatic like him would only result in more losses. Besides, the Spectator Pathway and Secret Suppliant pathways lacked the ability to engage in frontal combat in low sequences.
"What's the matter? Too scared to fight back? You're also a waste, just like that pretty boy!" The young man swung the flip knife horizontally, slicing Adam's crossed arms, which covered his face.
He wanted to continue but stopped when he saw a fractured eye, like shattered glass, behind that hand. A blueish-golden eye that looked strange and terrifying, something no human should possess.
A cold yet calculating eye that didn't even flinch when a wound sliced deep into his hand.
A soul power surged from his body, releasing the full might of level 10 soul power. Not even a single soul ring appeared, but the young man didn't continue his attack.
"Tsk," the young man clicked his tongue and retracted his flip knife. "You're surprisingly good, not like that waste. So, I'll let you go."
The young man smiled broadly and retracted his flip knife. When he looked back at the two of his lackeys, they immediately released Tang Wulin and lowered their heads.
A bad premonition enveloped them, and their faces turned deathly pale. As the young man walked away, the two of them followed closely behind.
"A criminal, huh…" Adam sighed in relief as he looked at the horizontal cuts across his arm. The wound wasn't deep enough to require a trip to the hospital.
After all, that was just an ordinary knife. Not some dangerous sealed artifact or other dangerous item.
