"The era of Calamity" It stood on the chalkboard. Followed by a graph depicting the numbers between the modern and old era.
"Considered a time period where the concentration of gods and humans with extraordinary powers were at an all time high."
"During this time period, the world was at war."
"Despite major ideals clashing.. One thing stood certain. The common enemy of the people back then was "New Terra" and something utterly incomprehensible..." His voice broke for a split moment before continuing.
"Humans fell and even gods became mortal. This era is estimated to have lasted around 50-100 years." The teacher's hand kept moving, writing key facts on the board during his retelling.
"In the end they managed to destroy the unknown organism and wipe out New Terra."
"Now I'm wondering.. Can anyone here name a god or two that died and likewise that survived?"
"Extra points if you name more than five." He put down his pen and leaned against the board followed by raising his fisted hand, ready to start counting whoever dared enough to raise their hand.
Raising her hand, was none other than the girl who had meticulously studied months in advance. She sat by the back corner of the classroom, overlooking the track and field through the large windows.
"The ones that unfortunately died would be.."
"Hades, Poseidon, Aphrodite, Ares, Athena, Hestia, Demeter, Apollo, Hera, Hermes and Artemis." He ran out of fingers to count.
The teacher seemed taken back for a few seconds.
"Oh? You seem to know their names Yukihime!"
"..Then, what about those that survived? Raising an eyebrow alongside a smug smile that formed around his fairly chiseled face, the teacher's sharp black eyes stared at Yukihime, awaiting her answers.
"Ah, those would be.." With a confident smile she gave the corresponding answers to the last question.
"Zeus and Amaterasu.."
"Good, you get full marks!" Impressed, the teacher was congratulating her quite spectacularly.
Yumi was happy that she managed to impress the teacher, although she herself knew that a third one also survived.. One whose identity has been passed down through her family's generations. The one who was erased from the history books.
