Nyxar pressed his head with his left hand, looking at the five-foot-tall mirror in front of him.
"It feels like someone is drilling into my head."
His black and white hair extended down to his neck. The white strands weren't dyed; they were likely due to a nutritional deficiency. He was slightly taller than the mirror.
Pressing his head even harder, he said, "I've worked so hard to get to this point, but now everything is going to waste. My body is burning like fire."
The hot breath emanating from his body confirmed it.
"Am I cursed!? And at this age?" Nyxar was deeply confused.
"This smell has also started coming from my body. This is definitely the manifestation of the curse. Before this smell attracts them, I need to immediately tell the city leader about this."
Nyxar immediately left his house and started walking.
The place was shrouded in a faint darkness. There were no signs of trees. Only small, strange plants grew here and there. Very small houses were built haphazardly on hills and valleys. There weren't many people around; the few who were outside were staring at Nyxar.
Nyxar began to feel his body getting even hotter. He took a deep breath and started running. After running for a few minutes, he reached a slightly more developed area.
It was surrounded by large iron gates, and two large figures stood guard outside. They stopped Nyxar and questioned him.
One of the guards asked Nyxar in a stern voice, "Your shift is in the morning, isn't it? What are you doing here now?"
Nyxar's body was breathing heavily, his body slightly weak. Nyxar lifted his drooping head and said in a breathless voice, "I've got the symptoms! I've been cursed!" There was a hint of urgency in Nyxar's voice.
One of the guards came closer to Nyxar and sniffed near his black and white hair.
The next second, his feet moved a few steps back. His face turned pale. He knocked on the iron gate three times, and the massive gate opened. Immediately, he took Nyxar inside.

In the year three thousand, the human population had increased manifold, multiplying to fifteen billion. As a result, people had destroyed various natural resources. Seventy percent of the forests, along with the animals living in them, had been destroyed. The seawater had turned into a deadly acid, and the primary marine life was wiped out. The mountains had been broken down.
That's when the curse originated.
Humans believed it to be the curse of Mother Nature, but the real reason was unknown to anyone. That curse had changed the entire world.
That's become, a greatest apocalypse ever.
All the oceans in the world unleashed tsunamis, earthquakes of unprecedented magnitude occurred, volcanoes spewed lava, and torrential rains accompanied by severe storms lasted for many months.

The total population dropped from fifteen billion to below one billion. Above all, the remaining creatures had undergone monstrous evolution as a result of the curse, and they did not live in forests or mountains because the entire world had begun to transform into a forest. The evolved animals had occupied the rest of the world, and consequently, the remaining humans lived in large underground cities, vast mountain caves, and hidden places unseen by the animals, either in large groups or small bands. Yet, the evolved creatures hunted and killed any humans they encountered.
Perhaps because humans too are children of Mother Nature, some humans also awakened the power of evolution after that catastrophe. The onset of this curse occurs between the ages of ten and fifteen, and its symptoms include terrible headaches and a burning sensation throughout the body. Furthermore, their bodies emit a certain scent that attracts the evolved creatures.
Nyxar thoughts stopped after see that large palace
The guard and Nyxar, after walking for a few minutes, entered a large, modern palace.
After exchanging a few words and passing through several rooms, they met a middle-aged man.
He was tall, with small amounts of white hair growing all over his face and body. He looked like a werewolf.
He raised his eyebrow as if to ask, "What is it?"
"Sir, he has received the curse's awakening," the guard said hesitantly.
"Now?!" The werewolf's eyes widened, and he slowly rose from his seat and approached Nyxar. "What is your age?" he asked.
"I'm twenty; I'll be twenty next month."
The werewolf's brow furrowed, and he scratched his cheek with his left hand like a wolf. "How at this age?" A few minutes of silence followed.
"Anyway, your scent is very strong. In a little while, this scent will attract them here. So you must leave our city first. The curse will take care of everything else."
The three of them began to walk, entering a secret passage behind the large mansion.
"Since this is your curse level 0, none of us can accompany you. Do you have any combat training?" the werewolf asked as they walked.
"No, I don't have much combat training."
"Hmm... I remember, weren't you the one who was rescued by Senso many years ago and brought here?" the werewolf asked with some interest.
"Yes, sir, that was about seven years ago. Because I didn't receive the curse's awakening at the right age in our city, I didn't receive any combat training."

A short while later, the three of them emerged from a small underground passage. Nyxar was overwhelmed by all kinds of emotions: fear, shock, and anxiety.
Then, a hairy hand was placed on Nyxar's white and black hair, stroking it, and the werewolf said, "Everything else is in your hands. In a short while, a mutated creature will come looking for you, and at the same time, the power of your curse will awaken. Once you complete your 0 curse, you will gain power."
"What if not?" Nyxar asked in a weak voice.
"You will die," the werewolf said in an emotionless voice.
