Chapter 22 — Lilith POV
I started to tug the bond, but a flicker of warning in his eyes cautioned me against it. His features hardened, the colour slowly draining from his face and being replaced with a dark look.
I took a step backward. But when he mirrored mine, I continued to retreat until my back collided with the wall. I was trapped. I could slowly trace his Lycan features beginning to emerge as he growled. The urge to summon my sword and cut him down was overwhelming, yet I didn't.
"Maverick," I whispered.
"Do you really think you could run away after what you did?"
"What?" My brows furrowed in confusion. What does he mean?
If looks could kill, I would be lying dead from Maverick's glare by now.
"What are you talking about?"
"You know very well what I mean, Lilith," he answered. "You sent those hunters after Davina, didn't you?"
"What?! No!"
