Chapter 11 - Chapter 11

INT – WEREWOLF HOUSE - MORNING – MORNING

Mrs. Young reads the newspaper while the werewolves sleep.

MRS. YOUNG

Mystery dog pack causes mayhem all over town.

Mrs. Young turns on the TV and watches the news.

JUDY (NEWSWOMAN)

The werewolf pack is still doing its best to help people around town.

But the one thing they can't seem to stop is a dog pack.

So far, they've stolen a ring for Hunter Reed, traveled on trucks, escaped from carriers and houses, and hiked hundreds of miles to cause chaos all over town.

They've seemed to have disappeared, but they were last seen heading toward Werewolf Rock and are probably still headed up there as we speak.

MRS. YOUNG

Well, now we know where to find him. I'll alert Mrs. Wolf when she wakes up later.

INT – ABANDONED HOUSE - MORNING – MORNING

Eliza wakes up snuggling with Randy.

RANDY

Ah! Why are you cuddling me?

ELIZA

I don't know. I must have fallen on you in my sleep.

RANDY

Yeah, well, if you'll excuse me.

Randy hurries to a higher level and reaches the roof.

Randy tries to remove his watch but gets his leg stuck and falls to the ground.

Pongo, the Labrador, laughs and offers help.

PONGO

Are you having trouble?

RANDY

Just a little.

Pongo pulls Randy's leg out of the watch.

PONGO

Where'd you get that?

RANDY

It was a birthday present from my Uncle Max, and I can't get it off.

PONGO

Don't worry, it's bound to come off sooner or later.

Randy sits down and gazes out at the view, missing his family.

Pongo lies down, looking sad.

RANDY

What's eating you? I miss my family, so I'm sad, but why are you?

Randy and Pongo look at each other; Randy realizes Pongo had an owner.

RANDY

Huh, you had an owner.

PONGO

Yeah, I had one.

RANDY

What was he like?

PONGO

In a way, he was a lot like me. He adopted me as a pup.

And when we were together, we became close.

He played music, and I would dance. We slept in bed together, and every morning, he would take me for walks in the park so that we could avoid the werewolves.

Pongo has a flashback and tells Randy about his owner dying and being left on the street.

RANDY

Pongo, you sounded like a very loyal dog.

What happened to your owner wasn't your fault.

And if the family that moved into your house couldn't see what a great dog you were, it was their loss.

PONGO

It wasn't all bad. I've made a few friends, and I go where I want these days.

I'm just waiting for another real adventure to come.

Not like every day is an adventure for me.

Pongo leaves; Randy thinks about what he said.

Randy looks down and sees Eliza and another golden retriever wrestling, and Ace playing with puppies.

INT – ABANDONED HOUSE - DAY – DAY

Randy walks downstairs, thinking it's a good time to leave.

ACE

Randy?

RANDY

Oh, hi, Ace.

ACE

Where are you going?

RANDY

Well, it's been fun, but I've got to get going.

ACE

Why?

Daisy gets in Randy's face.

DAISY

You're leaving?

Randy falls to the ground.

RANDY

No. I mean, yes. It's just that it's been fun, but I don't belong here.

DAISY

Don't belong? Every dog belongs here. It's like a dog hotel. All dogs are welcome. Now, come on. Let's play.

Randy tries to avoid Daisy and Ace, but when he runs off, they chase him, thinking he wants to play.

EXT – ABANDONED HOUSE - DAY – DAY

While Daisy and Ace play with Randy, the other dogs hear the dogcatcher truck approaching and hurry back inside to hide.

Randy, Ace, and Daisy are outside looking for the other dogs.

The animal control officer gets confused because he can't find the dogs.

Eliza sees Randy, Daisy, and Ace outside and alerts the other dogs, who rush to their rescue before the animal control officers arrive.

ELIZA

Randy, Ace, and Daisy, get out of there.

ACE

Why? We're having too much fun playing outside.

MELODY

You can wait until we're all back outside; just get inside now.

DAISY

Ok.

Randy, Ace, and Daisy walk inside; Randy gets by the window with Eliza.

Eliza tells Randy to get down as the animal control van approaches.

The animal control officers drive by, look in the window, but don't see anyone inside.

After the van leaves, the dogs emerge from hiding and stay inside until the officers are gone.

INT – ABANDONED HOUSE - DAY – DAY

The animal control officers enter the abandoned house; Crystal shines her flashlight while Horace follows.

CHANCE

Now would be a good time for one of your plans, Muttician.

Eliza looks around and sees the officers coming up the stairs.

ELIZA

I'll distract them. Pongo, you make sure everyone runs and hides in bedrooms.

RANDY

Small problem. I can't run; my back leg is still bruised. Remember?

ELIZA

Then follow everyone as fast as you can.

Eliza runs past the animal control officers; Crystal chases after her.

CRYSTAL

You go upstairs and make sure no more dogs are hiding up there.

Crystal runs after Eliza and chases her outside while Horace searches upstairs for the other dogs.

The dogs hide quietly in bedrooms to avoid being found.

Horace searches every room with his flashlight but finds no dogs.

Crystal loses track of Eliza and wonders what happened.

Eliza kicks a flower pot off the ledge, hitting Crystal on the head.

Eliza growls at Daisy and shows her teeth.

Eliza tackles Crystal and jumps on her.

Crystal falls into the pond after Eliza lures her there and kicks a ball at her.

Eliza runs back to the abandoned house to stop Horace.

Eliza ties Horace's legs together with a lamp wire and kicks him down the stairs.

Crystal unties Horace, and they follow Eliza upstairs.

Crystal and Horace catch up with Randy, Eliza, and Ace upstairs.

Crystal and Horace carry Randy, Eliza, and Ace downstairs and throw them into their truck, slamming the door.

Randy, Eliza, and Ace panic and yell for help.

The other dogs see Randy, Eliza, and Ace inside the truck and run after it.

The animal control officers drive away quickly, and the dogs stop chasing.
