Chapter 148 - Aftermath

"Annihilape, use Rage Fist!"

Gu Yuan's voice rang out, and Annihilape once again used Phantom Force to enter the alternate dimension. When Annihilape reappeared, it was behind the last Senior Rank Gyarados. This Gyarados was currently entangled in a fight with a Seaking and did not notice Annihilape suddenly appearing behind it.

As Rage Fist was used, an intense pain instantly spread throughout the Gyarados's body. Simultaneously, the Gyarados was sent flying, revealing Annihilape hidden behind it. Watching this scene, the Seaking silently swallowed, firmly committing Annihilape's appearance to memory, warning itself never to provoke it!

With the last Senior Rank Gyarados defeated, the rest of the Gyarados swarm was almost completely wiped out. Even the two Ace Rank Gyarados couldn't hold out any longer and were submerged under countless attacks.

The battle was over, but Gu Yuan did not immediately return to the ship. Instead, he had Alakazam help rescue the injured Pokémon, bringing them aboard for treatment.

Nori was also busy, directing everyone to clean up the battlefield while also taking some of the Gyarados with them. This was the League's consistent approach: appropriately weakening some powerful swarms to ensure they could continue to develop without affecting the normal lives of humans.

"Gu Yuan, thanks to you, this battle was concluded so easily and without too many casualties."

"Before we discuss anything else, take a look at these Gyarados and see if there's one you like. You can take one with you directly."

"Don't worry, this won't count toward your final reward."

Returning to the deck, Nori smiled and gave Gu Yuan a hug, speaking with considerable generosity. Others might not have noticed, but Nori had. From assisting others in defeating five Gyarados at the beginning, to having his Alakazam and Annihilape subsequently defeat a large number of Intermediate Rank Gyarados, and then defeating five more Gyarados, and finally, assisting Dewgong to ensure Sheer Cold was successful, which accelerated the end of the battle, it was all thanks to Gu Yuan.

It could be said that the value Gu Yuan provided in this battle was second only to Nori's. Nori even wondered if the battle would have been easier if Gu Yuan also had an Ace Rank Pokémon.

"You're too kind. It's simply what I should do."

"In that case, just give me a random Gyarados. I'll release it after I return from Cinnabar Island."

Gu Yuan did not refuse Nori's kind offer and immediately accepted. It looked as though Gu Yuan was preparing for a recurrence of such an event, since he lacked a Water-type Pokémon he could use. In reality, Gu Yuan wanted to understand why these Gyarados had gathered to attack humans.

Gyarados are known for their extremely volatile temper and rarely gather in groups. However, this time, nearly a hundred Gyarados had gathered at once to attack humans. Gu Yuan did not believe that there wasn't a hidden reason behind such a massive number.

"No problem. I will personally select a good Gyarados for you. How you catch it is up to you, but I believe it won't be an issue with your strength."

"Now, you must be tired after the big battle. Go rest with your Pokémon. I'll handle the rest."

"Yes, please go about your work. I will head back now."

Knowing he couldn't help with the remaining matters, Gu Yuan didn't stay long, immediately having Alakazam use Teleport to disappear from the spot.

Nori then turned back to his busy duties. The war was over, but the post-war treatment of the injured people and Pokémon, the disposal of the Gyarados, and contacting the League to report were all far from easy tasks.

After this battle, the atmosphere on the ship became somewhat subdued. But by the next day, Nori provided rewards to the Trainers who had helped. Upon receiving the considerable contribution points, the low spirits instantly vanished. Naturally, Gu Yuan received the highest reward, which included an extra TM containing the Move Sunny Day. Although Charizard no longer needed it, it was a good option for either Charcadet or Crocalor to use.

After this, the ship encountered no further attacks during its voyage. However, Gu Yuan found it inconvenient to interrogate the Gyarados on the ship, so he could only wait patiently until they reached Cinnabar Island.

"We've arrived at Cinnabar Island, Gu Yuan. Have you reserved a room? If you don't have a place to stay, you can squeeze in with me."

Upon reaching Cinnabar Island, Nori asked Gu Yuan with a smile. Since the last battle, Nori had come to value this genius, intending to establish a good relationship with him.

Unfortunately for him, Gu Yuan did not feel the same way.

"I have already reserved a room, so I won't trouble you."

"I also need to quickly register at the Cinnabar Gym, so I'll be going ahead."

"Alright, I wish you success in obtaining the Volcano Badge from the Cinnabar Gym. I believe it won't be an issue with your strength."

Hearing this, Nori couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.

After saying goodbye to Nori, Gu Yuan immediately had Alakazam use Teleport to go to the Cinnabar Gym.

Compared to other Trainers, Gu Yuan's speed was undoubtedly faster, which greatly reduced his waiting time. He would be able to start his Gym battle by tomorrow afternoon.

"Let's go, Alakazam. Let's head to the seaside first. I have something I need to ask this Gyarados."

After registering, Gu Yuan found a secluded corner and once again had Alakazam use Teleport to travel. Psychic power was released, and Gu Yuan and Alakazam vanished from the spot. Avoiding other pedestrians, after several instantaneous moves, Alakazam brought Gu Yuan to the seaside.

"Come out, Gyarados."

The Poké Ball opened, and the Gyarados rushed out.

"Roar!"

A roar sounded, but after two or three days of hunger, the Gyarados's weakness was obvious.

"Alakazam, make it quiet!"

As soon as Gu Yuan spoke, Alakazam disappeared from its spot. When Alakazam reappeared, it was right in front of the Gyarados, launching Psychic.

The Gyarados also refused to be outdone and immediately counterattacked. Unfortunately, hunger prevented the Gyarados from unleashing its full strength, and its power was already inferior to Alakazam's. After a short while, the Gyarados collapsed under Alakazam's continuous bombardment. Following Gu Yuan's instructions, Alakazam acted with restraint, ensuring the Gyarados did not faint.

"The reason I attacked you was simply to allow us to have a calm conversation."

"Now, can you tell me exactly what happened that caused you Gyarados to gather and attack humans?" Gu Yuan looked at the Gyarados's hate-filled eyes and asked directly using Telepathy.
