Chapter 116 - Chapter 115: Going to Kryptonian for Supplies

Why did the Green Lantern Corps have the Yellow Impurity?

This was because, in the early days of establishing the Green Lantern Corps, the Guardians had imprisoned Parallax within the Central Power Battery.

Parallax's power of fear infected the Green Lantern's energy, and the fears in the hearts of Green Lanterns charging there were naturally known to him.

This led to the weakening of the green light's effect within its corresponding spectrum, making the yellow color represented by Parallax a weakness for the green lanterns.

The Guardians were well aware of this at the time, but they concealed this secret from the Green Lanterns.

They merely summarized the weakness of the Green Lantern's power with the ambiguous phrase "Yellow Impurity."

In fact, due to some ancient history, the Guardians did not trust the green lanterns as much as they appeared to.

So, to some extent, the Yellow Impurity was also a weakness they intentionally created for the Green Lanterns.

But they never imagined that one day they would be attacked by others exploiting this weakness.

Ganthet couldn't help but reflect; perhaps they had been wrong from the very beginning.

Actually, overcoming the yellow fear was simple: either create a new green lantern main power source.

As long as it hadn't imprisoned Parallax, slowly, the re-charged lantern rings would no longer have this flaw.

Or, like Hal Jordan, face and overcome the fear in one's heart, and the Yellow Impurity would naturally disappear.

This was also a characteristic of the power of the Emotional Spectrum: as long as the emotion was strong enough and aligned with the corresponding Emotional Spectrum, immense power could be unleashed.

However, the second point was much more difficult than the first. Even for Green Lanterns whose willpower was stronger than ordinary people, facing fear that struck at the core of their being was not something that could be overcome simply by deciding to.

If they wanted to prevent a repeat of today's events, then perhaps the first method would be better.

And giving Dane a green lantern main power source with the Yellow Impurity didn't seem like a bad thing; it was like intentionally creating a weakness for him.

"I cannot decide this alone. We... need to discuss it."

But he turned around and discussed it with another female Little Blue People named Sayd.

Sayd? Isn't that Ganthet's old flame?

Good heavens, you pulled in someone from your own faction to discuss this; you're here to assist me, aren't you!

Ganthet couldn't hear Dane's internal grumbling. After telling Sayd his opinion, he quickly gained her support.

He took their shared opinion to talk with the other Guardians. They were clearly not as easy to talk to as Sayd and immediately started arguing with Ganthet.

"You are handing over our most powerful strength to an outsider!"

Ganthet argued reasonably: "He is not an outsider; he is a Green Lantern, regardless of whether he admits it or not!"

"But he has no reverence for us!" a Little Blue People couldn't help but retort.

"As long as he represents a positive force, it doesn't matter whether he is under our control or not!" Ganthet used righteousness to shut down that Guardian's words.

"How do we know this person won't become a new Sinestro? He's not even willing to hand over the yellow lantern ring."

Ganthet found this person's words ridiculous: "He is not our subordinate, so those things belong to him as spoils of war. I thought you would understand that."

They continued to argue.

Fortunately, apart from Ganthet and Sayd, the other Little Blue People had all undergone emotional excision, so even their opposing opinions were just factual arguments, without being overly aggressive.

As Ganthet explained, combined with Oa's current predicament, more and more Guardians began to waver.

Their reasons for disagreeing with Dane's plan were not difficult to understand: they feared that the green light energy would get out of control and threaten their rule.

However, the lantern ring in Dane's hand was still one of the Guardians' earliest creations, which meant it also possessed the Yellow Impurity.

And if Parallax were sealed within it according to Dane's suggestion, that flaw would only become greater.

This could be considered good news for the Guardians.

Furthermore, given Oa's current situation, it lacked the ability to suppress Parallax.

If any problems arose during this period, Oa might have to rely on Dane's power again.

Whether he admitted it or not, the moment he put on the lantern ring, he was already a Green Lantern, even if he followed orders but not commands.

So, after careful consideration, the Guardians decided to vote. The final result was four votes in favor, three against, and two abstentions.

Dane achieved his three goals as desired: first, to acquire the knowledge of Oa; second, to claim Parallax for himself; and third, to possess a fully functional green lantern power source.

After gaining the ability Gift of Life, Dane pondered a question.

Does Parallax have a soul?

It should have one; even though it is an energy life form, as long as it is alive, it should have a soul.

So, could Dane's ability also work on Parallax?

Isn't it worth researching?

If he could reshape Parallax's soul as he reshaped other souls, he could make this lantern beast his own.

In this battle, he had already realized that facing more powerful opponents, running out of mana would be a rather awkward problem.

He hadn't felt it when he was on Earth, because no one could beat him.

But in this Universe battle, facing Sinestro, who had infinite mana, it was indeed a bit more troublesome to fight.

This guy, relying on Parallax's infinite energy, was simply a super tank, an enhanced Wolverine.

Just as Superman's abilities required accumulating yellow sun energy, Shazam's divine body also required the maintenance of divine power, but he actually lacked effective means to replenish mana.

Divine power is a relatively high-level energy, and it must be exchanged with equivalent energy.

So, if those magic mana-recovery techniques were actually used, the conversion rate would probably be very low, and waiting for divine power to recover automatically would take too long.

Therefore, the best way was to find an energy of the same level for mutual conversion, minimizing energy loss during the conversion.

And wouldn't you know it, Emotional Spectrum energy just happened to be at this level.

As mentioned earlier, Emotional Spectrum energy is likely related to Creator God power, so using it to replenish lost divine power is appropriate.

Since manufacturing a new lantern battery would take some time, Dane decided to use this period to do some archaeological research on Kryptonian.

He found Hal Jordan: "I'm planning to visit the Andromeda Galaxy. Do you want to come along?"

Hal shook his head at the news: "Oa suffered severe destruction this time, and I need to stay and help."

"Do you need help from other Justice League members?" Dane hadn't notified the Justice League members in advance this time.

Firstly, among the few members capable of fighting in Universe battles, Martian Manhunter's weakness was too obvious, and he was reluctant to get involved in Oa's affairs.

He probably had some past grievances with the Little Blue People and was still holding a grudge.

Secondly, Superman Clark was overly benevolent. If Clark came here, he would never allow Dane to slaughter the Yellow Lantern Corps.

And Dane didn't have time to argue with this boy scout, so he simply didn't include him.

Wonder Woman was willing to come, but they had just confirmed their relationship.

It was already bad enough that they hadn't had many dates, but bringing a girl to kill people would be a bit uncouth.

Hmm? That might not be true... Dane stroked his chin and thought for a moment, suddenly feeling like he had miscalculated and that bringing her along would have been the best choice.

However, in that case, Zatanna would probably be seething with jealousy.

Shaking off these thoughts, he brought his attention back to reality.

He heard Hal reply, "No need. Everyone has their own things to do; there's no reason for them to sacrifice anything for Oa."

"You're right to think that way!

Earth is your home; Oa is just a place to punch in and out.

Once Parallax is dealt with, maybe you won't even need to clock in anymore.

Green Lanterns already work in their respective sectors daily, and Earth happens to be in Hal's assigned sector.

Making this place his Base isn't slacking off; it's making his post his home!"

He patted Hal's shoulder with satisfaction, leaving Hal bewildered.

"In that case, I'll be going now."

Hal nodded, watching Dane fly into the sky and disappear into a green wormhole.

He scratched his head, wondering, "Can Dane use a lantern ring to open wormholes now?"

Only then did he realize, belatedly, that Dane might have become a new Green Lantern.

But… which sector would he be responsible for?

According to the data recorded by the lantern ring, Kryptonian is located in Sector 2813, and the lantern ring database contains detailed coordinate information.

As soon as he exited the wormhole, Dane arrived in an asteroid field, all fragments from the destruction of Kryptonian.

He weaved through the asteroids and found many glowing green stones that looked like jade.

Dane unhesitatingly began to stock up, putting all the Kryptonite he could find into his personal space.

However, he noticed that there was only green Kryptonite here, no other colors.

It seemed that other varieties of Kryptonite would have to be developed by him.

After collecting enough Kryptonite, Dane set up a portal here so he could return for more supplies later.

Then he continued searching the surroundings, looking for any Kryptonian technology left behind…
