Chapter 117 - Chapter 116: Lying Flat!

After about half a month of busy work on Kryptonian, Dane, feeling there was nothing more to exploit, finally decided to return.

He opened a wormhole and first went to Oa to check the situation, finding that the original lantern power source had been repaired.

However, Ganthet mentioned that they still needed to redesign the power source that imprisoned Parallax.

"In the past, we were too careless, which allowed Parallax to escape, so this time we will design it to be more robust."

Dane said nothing, just greeted Hal, who was busy, then opened a wormhole and returned to Earth.

Back on Earth, he first went to the Hall of Justice and saw Diana training there.

Seeing Dane return, Diana's initial joy turned to anger, and the godfire sword slashed towards him.

Dane sidestepped, the godfire sword grazing past him, but he knew this move lacked both speed and power.

Diana was merely venting her dissatisfaction at his prolonged silence.

Dane only dodged and didn't retaliate.

Once Diana had vented her anger, she threw down her weapon and rushed towards Dane, who embraced her.

"I'm sorry, I'm late."

"You're not allowed to disappear without a word again!"

Dane could only nod, and then the two walked home together.

He stayed at Diana's house for a full week before she let him go.

A week later, she was radiant, looking even more beautiful than before.

As for Dane, he had entered a state of sagehood, feeling indifferent to everything.

He used the excuse of needing to handle company matters, and Diana allowed him to leave.

Dane felt as if she knew something, because he noticed Diana wasn't particularly happy before he left.

But he didn't understand why she would tacitly approve if she really knew?

Perhaps it was just his imagination?

He learned from Cortana that Zatanna had a magic show recently, so he set off to attend.

As soon as he sat down in his seat, Zatanna spotted him.

She cried out in surprise on stage and flew down, directly embracing Dane like a swallow returning to its nest.

In that instant, Dane felt countless gazes of resentment and jealousy—the grievances of all the men present.

But he merely offered them a smile, which almost made everyone lose their composure.

"I'm going to kill this guy!" someone muttered, unable to hold back their hatred.

But he was stopped by someone next to him: "Don't go, that guy clearly has money, and besides, Miss Zatanna was the one who initiated it."

The man spoke, feeling his heart break.

Zatanna was the goddess of the Justice League, second only to Wonder Woman!

She was admired by countless people.

Moreover, Wonder Woman only appeared during disasters, while Zatanna was more approachable, often appearing on various stages.

Like a celebrity effect, her fame grew, and seeing their goddess in someone else's arms, how could they not be consumed by jealousy!

Countless people present were her fans, and this embrace was no less than a public NTR for them, making them feel like killing.

"When did you get back?"

Zatanna mumbled in his arms.

Dane lied: "Today, I came to find you as soon as I got back."

Zatanna's arms tightened around him.

They ignored the commotion in the venue, and with a flash of magic light, the two disappeared.

Leaving behind only the wails of the defeated.

He stayed with Zatanna for another week, and some things naturally happened.

Once their relationship changed, Zatanna inevitably became a bit more anxious about gains and losses, which was why he stayed there for so long.

A week later, he returned to the Hall of Justice and began to retrieve data to check the latest news on Justice League members.

Clark recently moved to Metropolis, and he heard he met a female Reporter-Woman, and the two got along very well.

He seemed to have intentions of pursuing that Reporter-Woman.

Dane retrieved the Reporter-Woman's identity, and sure enough, it was Lois Lane.

The two of them really had a strong connection to meet like this.

Fortunately, Clark had previously asked Dane to cast a Confusion Charm, so his identity had not been exposed yet.

Lois Lane, known as "Reporter-Woman," had unusually keen insight.

According to Cortana's data, she seemed to be investigating Superman's true identity recently.

At this time, Clark still dared to approach her; this was truly… Dane shook his head.

After all, this was Clark's first serious attempt at pursuing a girl, so others couldn't say much.

However, he remembered that Lois, this "Reporter-Woman," was not exactly well-behaved, even daring to enter a terrorist Base alone for an interview; she was unusually bold.

Next, he looked at Gotham; this wretched place was still the same as ever.

However, after a major cleanup, the crises that could lead to city-wide destruction had indeed significantly decreased.

But perhaps because of this, Gotham's small gangs had actually increased compared to before.

According to the data analysis provided by Cortana, these small gangs all had Penguin's Shadow behind them.

Tsk, people who rely on their brains are indeed different.

Batman still wanted to root out people in Gotham, but he didn't know that Penguin had already set up his main Base in Blüdhaven.

Nightwing was still too green; he couldn't outplay this old schemer at all.

But while reviewing these files, he discovered something interesting.

He had heard before that Barbara wanted to form her own team, and now he saw that it was already taking shape.

In addition to the already designated Poison Ivy, Harley, the Joker's female accomplice, had also been absorbed into her new team.

Harley's abilities were not weak now, though she couldn't match female heroes like Barbara, who had been meticulously trained by Batman, in terms of technique.

However, she compensated for her lack of technique with "brute force creates miracles."

She was now one of the top super-powered girls in the team.

If three to five ordinary strong men encountered her, they would only end up with broken legs and arms.

He checked Harley's recent status and found that she was doing well.

With her origin changed, she hadn't become a villain, but instead was transforming into a superhero.

However, when Harley truly takes the stage in the future, she will likely become an anti-hero; she doesn't have so many qualms about killing.

In addition to these three members Dane already knew about, Barbara had also introduced two new members, both newcomers who emerged after the Justice League came into being.

Huntress and Black Canary.

Dane had learned a long time ago that Batman had no daughters, nor adopted daughters.

So this Huntress should be the Helena Bertinelli version.

She had no superpowers but was very strong in combat, seemingly encouraged by Barbara to become a superhero.

According to Cortana's assessment, her combat ability might have reached Barbara's level.

This was already a very high evaluation!

It should be known that Barbara's physical abilities improved after surgery to implant nanoparticles, making her not much different from Captain America.

Before receiving Dane's surgery, she was already capable of fending off eight or nine strong men with ease.

Now, she could beat the gangs in Crime Alley senseless, and even Nightwing probably wouldn't dare claim a sure victory against her.

He hoped they would live in harmony.

Dane looked at Huntress's costume on the big screen; thankfully, it wasn't the version with very little fabric, otherwise, how could that be fighting crime? It would be more like giving out welfare!

Next was Black Canary, whose real name was Dinah Laurel Lance, a metahuman.

Dane didn't know much about Black Canary, so he observed her more carefully.

She possessed a sonic superpower that could hypnotize, interfere with enemies, and even mimic others' voices.

Dane wondered, if this were the previous Shazam, would she be able to mimic his voice and strike him back into a mortal?

Should he try it on Black Adam next time?

However, Black Canary's most common use was to directly attack enemies with the energy of her sonic scream.

It seems superheroes all prefer the "might makes right" approach?

As for the other members of the Justice League, Martian Manhunter was still diligently working at The Pentagon, nothing much to say.

However, Dane only now realized that he had a wife!

And they had been married for many years, only they never had children.

Constantine… this guy had disappeared to who knows where; even Cortana couldn't find him.

Never mind, the contract was in his hands anyway; even if he died, his soul wouldn't escape his grasp.

And the ability he just got from Death might even be tested on him.

Playing around with resurrection and such.

After roughly understanding what had happened during this period, Dane got up and left the Hall of Justice, heading to Harley and Poison Ivy's residence.

He planned to stay there for a week.

No more pretending! He just wanted to lie flat!

Solving two world-ending disasters back-to-back, he gets tired too!.
