Chapter 195 - Chapter 194: Ominous Future Vision, Kahndaq Anomaly

"You seem to have known I would come?"

"Strictly speaking, I could only know that you might come."

Harcourt probed, "Foreseeing the future?"

Kent thought for a moment and said, "Although the essence is different, you can think of it that way."

Harcourt's spirits lifted.

"Then you must also know the purpose of my visit."

Kent nodded: "Yes."

"Then…"

Kent raised his hand to stop her words: "Actually, this matter doesn't require my intervention. The Justice League has already planned everything."

"Plan?" Harcourt caught the keyword.

Kent nodded: "Shazam of the Justice League has arranged everything. In all the futures I have foreseen, none of the things you worry about will happen."

But Harcourt frowned instead: "So, the Justice League actually knew about those alien species before us, and they didn't tell us!"

Kent glanced at him, saying nothing.

He had recently often seen his friend Hawkman running to the Tower of Fate, rambling about various unrelated things.

To put it plainly, he wanted him to come out of retirement and re-establish the Justice Society.

But with the Justice League in existence, was there any point in re-establishing the Justice Society?

Of course there was!

Harcourt began to use every trick in the book, trying to persuade Kent to come out of retirement, but if Hawkman couldn't do it, how could Harcourt possibly succeed?

So Harcourt's mind turned, and she came up with an idea of "saving the country by a roundabout way."

"Doctor Fate, since you are unwilling to act, I will not force you, but I have a request that I hope you can grant me."

Although Kent could glimpse the future through the helmet of fate, he couldn't predict every single detail, and he had spent his entire life trying to break free from his reliance on "fate."

So Harcourt's request was not within his scope of prediction, and he asked, "What is it?"

"Could you please use the helmet one more time to predict how many people will be killed or injured as a result of the Justice League's plan this time?"

Harcourt's question was very cunning, and Kent could see it, but he said nothing.

He was just a bit hesitant, not wanting to frequently use the helmet of fate.

But Harcourt just pleaded: "Please, just… for the sake of the people."

Coercing a hero with righteousness, though despicable, was very effective.

Kent thought about it; it wasn't easy for the other party to travel so far to get here, and he couldn't really let her make the trip for nothing.

He cupped his hands, forming a circle with his palms. A golden light flashed, and a golden helmet appeared in his palm—it was the legendary helmet of fate.

Harcourt had researched information about Doctor Fate; a true god, Nabu, resided within his helmet.

Kent touched the helmet in his hand with a dazed expression, clearing his mind, and instantly entered a spiritual vision.

From a first-person perspective, he saw some of the future he wanted to see.

War Fire raged, and dead bodies were everywhere—human, alien, and some armored Sea Soldiers. More importantly, demons were involved in this war.

Kent hurriedly flew to the center of the battlefield. There, a giant demon, towering over everything, was fighting against many heroes.

It had deep red skin, a pair of winding backward horns, and its reverse-jointed hooves heavily stomped the Earth, sending tremors through the ground. Its eyes seemed to burn with an eternal Fire and killing intent.

Suddenly, its head snapped around, and it met Kent's gaze.

Kent felt his heart clench in that instant, unable to control himself. At the same time, a name surfaced in his mind.

"Shabak!"

In the Real World, Kent suddenly woke up, cold sweat soaking his back.

"How is this possible!"

Shabak, it was actually Shabak!

Hadn't King Acton's descendant already died?

Then who was that Shabak in the future?

It was as if a force obscured Kent's vision, preventing him from seeing the truth.

But he quickly realized a crucial issue: in that future, he hadn't seen Shazam!

Was Shabak's appearance related to him? Or had something happened to him?

Kent's heart sank, his usual detached state of mind shattered.

Harcourt had, to some extent, achieved her goal, though she herself wasn't aware of it.

"It seems this time, I can no longer stay out of it. I must act!"

Harcourt was overjoyed. She quickly said, "Then can you first help me identify the fakes within Checkmate?"

Kent stared at her for a moment before saying, "Yes, but before that, I need to see an old friend."

As soon as he finished speaking, Hawkman flew in directly through the window.

"Carter, I believe I told you, please use the front door next time."

"Sorry, old friend, I don't have much time. There's some news you need to hear." Carter glanced at Harcourt; he had some impression of this woman.

She seemed to be someone who often stood beside Amanda, but he ignored her and continued to Kent, "The Justice League, they've announced their withdrawal from the United States!"

"What?" Harcourt's voice rose an octave. After realizing, she quickly pulled out her satellite phone.

This place was deserted, with no signal towers or anything, so there was no hope of using a smartphone, let alone browsing Kuaishou or reading the news.

A few minutes later, Harcourt put down the phone, her face grim.

The Justice League is withdrawing from the United States? Then what about those alien guys?

Harcourt immediately composed herself and turned to face Kent and Hawkman.

Since the Justice League had fled, it was even more imperative to bring the Justice Society into Checkmate's camp!

Kent was also surprised by the current situation. He wondered if the Justice League's withdrawal was related to Shabak...

After all, no matter how you looked at it, Shabak was much more serious than the so-called alien invasion.

So he looked at his friend: "Carter, this time, I'm afraid I have no choice but to get involved."

Hawkman smiled and patted his shoulder: "You've finally come around."

"How many of those old friends can you still gather?"

Carter shook his head and said regretfully, "They are already very old, and some have been retired for too long. Their combat ability... is no longer what it once was."

There was nothing that could be done; mortals could not resist the natural laws of birth, aging, sickness, and death.

And Kent himself, if not for the helmet of fate, would probably just be a doddering old man by now.

"Then we must find more people, Carter. I just saw a part of the future, and it's very bad. We need more help!"

Hawkman's expression became serious, and he nodded heavily.

"Um, I'll interrupt for a moment." Harcourt seized the opportunity to raise her hand, drawing their attention.

"If you need help, Checkmate can provide assistance."

Hawkman seemed a bit hesitant. He currently had very little faith in Checkmate and Amanda, fearing another trap.

Reading expressions was Harcourt's forte, and she quickly made assurances:

"This time, Checkmate will fully support you. If you're looking for teammates, you're probably looking for some metahumans, right?"

"We at Checkmate have a lot of information on metahumans; you'll need it."

Carter and Kent exchanged glances. Seeing Kent nod slightly, he said, "In that case, I will trust you one more time. I hope this time, you won't disappoint me again!"

...Kahndaq.

On this day, Dane received a message from the Spirit of Kandake and came here from the United States.

In the newly built Hall of Justice, he saw the Spirit of Kandake.

To blend into modern society, she had changed into a modern-style dress, but it still had a strong Egyptian flair.

"You called me here so urgently; is it something very important?"

The Spirit of Kandake nodded and said, "Do you know the Shabak Crown?"

Dane raised an eyebrow: "Of course, it should still be in the cave where Adam is sealed."

He hadn't taken that crown because this item could only be used by a descendant of King Acton, which was Ismail, but he had already killed that guy.

The remaining crown was just an ordinary eternal metal artifact, useless to him, so it was fine to leave it there.

But since the Spirit of Kandake said so, it meant there was a problem with the crown.

Sure enough, the Spirit of Kandake immediately followed up: "That's the problem; that crown, it's gone now."

"And I also found that Ismail's body is missing." .
