Chapter 4 - Long Ago

Long ago, a legend was passed and told

Kept in the stars, the mirror to our futures

Where hope was strong, and love was bold

Where wounds needed no tend or sutures

We placed our wish on a shooting star

Glowing amidst the sky with an unmatched bright

Safe though it traveled wide and far

Undeterred by the darkness of a twisted night

I am asking sincerely of you

Do not shed tears on my behalf or for my sake

I know your vows remain true

So do not gift the memories to the cruel time to take

I am asking sincerely of you

Do not pray restlessly for my safe return

I know your vows remain true

Of my persistence you will hear and learn

***

Long ago, our story was admired and sung

Guarded by the stars we traveled under

Where love remained honest and young

When cruelty stole the shine and wonder

We proclaimed our love to every place

Shielding us from the twists of a sorrowful fate

Every forest and every cave bears our embrace

Echoing the melodies of love standing up to hate

I am asking sincerely of you

Do not shed tears on my behalf or for my sake

I know your vows remain true

So do not gift the memories to a cruel time to take

I am asking sincerely of you

Do not pray restlessly for my safe return

I know your vows remain true

Of my persistence you will hear and learn

***

I am asking sincerely of you

Do not give up to the sorrow of loss for my sake

I know your vows remain true

Becoming your companions as you sleep and wake

I am asking sincerely of you

To listen to the resonance across the distance

My blades will remain true

Carving a path to you across this bitter existence
