Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Count Rabbit strikes out to protect Amber

"I'm back!" Amber opened the wooden door, bag in hand, and saw Ryan and a plush doll staring at each other.

"Ah—! Baron Bunny!"

"How did you get down from the table in the room?"

Amber put down her things, quickly picked up Baron Bunny, buried her head in it and rubbed it, then patted the plush doll's legs that had touched the ground.

The red doll, with rabbit ears and resembling Amber, made a squeaking sound.

It was monitoring the uninvited guest who had entered the house.

Amber understood Baron Bunny's thoughts and whispered, "Didn't I tell you?"

Baron Bunny's eyes skewed, and its head drooped.

Playing dead!

Amber sighed helplessly. Jean had indeed meant for her to keep Ryan close for monitoring purposes.

However, from their interactions, she didn't feel that Ryan was a bad person.

"These clothes look quite good on you!" Amber praised, seeing Ryan standing there in a green robe like a scholar.

"Let me introduce you!"

"This is my best partner, Baron Bunny!"

"She can dance, attract monsters, and even explode!"

Ryan clapped his hands and chuckled awkwardly, "How amazing and cute a creature." He watched Amber spin around with Baron Bunny, her face beaming as if showing off her treasure.

When he first discovered Baron Bunny, his mind felt a bit hazy and he was drawn in, watching it perform a dance for him.

When he touched it, a scorching heat appeared, and he almost thought it was going to turn into a bomb and give him a big firework show.

It scared him so much his heart nearly stopped!

What bad intentions could a doll have?

Baron Bunny lay on its back, head drooping, as if smiling.

"Let me help!" Seeing Amber preparing to cook, Ryan proactively offered to help.

"If you want to taste dishes from another world, I can make them for you too."

"Really?" Amber's voice was clear as a bell. She was in a good mood after seeing Baron Bunny.

"It's no trouble! I checked the seasonings; they're pretty similar between the two worlds! These past few days, I've tasted dendro slime, small lamp grass, Mint… I have a good idea of their flavors!"

"Amber, are we having rice or noodles for dinner?"

Ryan had seen rice in the kitchen, but not much; most of it was Flour.

So, he asked Amber for her preference.

"Whatever you like!" Amber replied after a moment of thought.

As a half-Liyue and half-Mondstadter, she wasn't too picky.

Ryan washed the vegetables and meat, picked up a cleaver, processed the tomatoes and Steak, cracked eggs…

If he wasn't going to eat his fill, then noodles and Steak would be fine.

"Does Baron Bunny eat?" Ryan joked while kneading dough.

This prompted Baron Bunny to climb onto the kitchen counter.

"Don't cause trouble!" Amber immediately picked her up and brought her down.

An hour later.

"Come on! From another world, tomato and egg noodles with grilled Steak! Please, everyone, enjoy!" Ryan brought the dishes to the table.

The red, white, and yellow noodles, garnished with green onions, looked appetizing.

"Well… I won't be shy then!" Amber took the chopsticks.

These were much more convenient than Mondstadt's knives and forks!

Ryan smiled as he watched her eat.

It was his first time cooking, so it was better to be conservative.

Tomato and egg noodles, suitable for all ages, were less likely to go wrong.

Baron Bunny, who was closely watching Ryan make the noodles to prevent him from doing anything untoward to Amber, sat on the table with her legs crossed like a father-in-law, observing the two elegantly eating their noodles.

"This grilled Steak is good! It tastes different from Good Hunter's!"

"And the combination of tomato and egg is also very delicious!"

"The completely handmade noodles are uniform in thickness, chewy, and full of juice, which is also pleasing."

Amber didn't speak while eating, but after finishing, she happily commented.

"I think you could open an otherworld restaurant in Mondstadt!"

Ryan was stunned after hearing this. "An otherworld restaurant? That's not a bad suggestion!"

"Maybe I can try it if things don't work out someday!"

"Right now, I don't even have initial capital. It would be difficult to open a restaurant in such a competitive market!"

His mind raced with thoughts. He proactively cleared the dishes, helped wash them, and mopped the floor together.

Their relationship seemed to have grown much closer.

Who doesn't like a diligent and self-aware guest?

Of course, it's me—Baron Bunny.

There's an old Liyue saying that goes, 'No good deed goes unpunished, unless it's a trick or a robbery!'

The lamp was lit.

Amber, dressed in casual everyday clothes, taught Ryan the Teyvat common language in the room.

Learning the common language would allow him to travel to most places in the Seven Nations of Teyvat.

It was Ryan's primary task to complete.

In between, she also interspersed some Liyue language to facilitate Ryan's understanding.

Finally, it was Mondstadtian.

With a beautiful Damselette as his teacher, Ryan studied with exceptional diligence.

He felt that his brain, which used to have a poor memory, had become much more flexible.

They studied late into the night.

Because Amber still had an Outrider mission tomorrow, Ryan, seeing her look a bit tired, proactively ended their study session even though he was still enthusiastic.

It was his first time lying in a bed in Teyvat without having to worry about external dangers, like Hilichurl and wild boar sneak attacks in the middle of the night.

Ryan fell into a deep sleep.

In the dark night, Baron Bunny, in Amber's room, moved her limbs.

She landed on the ground, carefully pushed open the door, and entered Ryan's room.

First, she looked through the exquisite treasure chest that smelled of Hilichurl.

Mm-hmm! No dangerous items.

Look at the Mora! He's a poor boy who can't afford Amber.

Look at the wu feng sword; Killing Intent is fully revealed, indicating potential for fighting.

After Baron Bunny finished checking Ryan's belongings, she jumped up and looked at the sleeping Ryan.

He sleeps well! No improper behavior.

She carefully closed the door and returned to Amber's room.

She hummed, "Amber's safety is guarded by me!"

"Anyone who dares to enter this room in the middle of the night, you're dead!"

...

A peaceful and comfortable night passed. Ryan got up and stretched.

"That was a great sleep!"

He put on his green robe, walked out of the room, and found that Amber had already bought breakfast.

Mondstadt Potato Pancakes!

"You're awake!" Amber, with her hair down, tied her rabbit-ear knot while looking in the mirror.

"Hilichurl are constantly approaching Mondstadt outside the city! As an Outrider, my mission is very important. I probably won't have time during the day to teach you the Teyvat common language!"

"I've already had breakfast, and I'm leaving now!"

"After you eat, you can either study in your room or go explore Mondstadt City!"

"I've left the key by the door!"

Amber put on her battle-ready thigh-high socks, picked up the curious Baron Bunny, gave Ryan a quick instruction, and left the house.

She showed unexpected trust!

Ryan didn't even have time to say a few words.

He looked at the bright sky; it seemed he had woken up too late!

He went to the washroom, carefully avoiding Amber's changed intimate clothes.

He washed his face, rinsed his mouth, and then took the Mondstadt Potato Pancakes outside.

"Today's training begins!"

He ate breakfast while jogging through Mondstadt City in the morning.

At the same time, he familiarized himself with the terrain and various shops.

He listened with keen ears to others speaking the common language and Mondstadtian, memorizing words.

He used the recently learned "Hello!"

"What's your name?"

"Where are you from?"

He boldly engaged people in conversation!

In the shadows, a man with an eye patch easily followed behind, watching Ryan.

"Instead of staying in the beautiful Damselette's house, he went out; his behavior is suspicious!"

"Is he a spy, familiarizing himself with Mondstadt City's terrain and gathering intelligence?"

"Let's see if you'll slip up!"

At a mansion filled with aristocratic aura.

The woman, who had only returned home for one night, listened indifferently to the reports from her Family's servants.

She swung her greatsword, cutting down ten training dummies with one strike!

"What?"

"A man has moved into Amber's house?"

Finally, a piece of news stirred her inner emotions.

Disregarding the Knight's etiquette she usually observed at home, the woman was greatly alarmed and agitated.

"Ten minutes! I want all his information!"

"Damn it!"

"I'll remember this grudge!"

The woman gritted her teeth and called for two carriages to leave!

A man appeared shortly after, and seeing this, he sternly rebuked, "What's with all this rushing around, how undignified!"

"The Lawrence Family's reputation has been completely ruined by you all!"
