Chapter 178 - Green Goblin Mech

"Demon Mecha?"

Looking at the familiar purple and green color scheme, Eller believed this mecha corresponded to the villain 'Green Goblin,' and was even related to Norman Osborn.

"Before the spider-mech was put into actual combat, we developed several mechas, and this Demon Mecha was the first one that could be put into actual combat." Mechanic Mei handed a tablet to Eller.

The tablet contained parameters of the Demon Mecha. Unlike the spider-mech, which was developed using the discovered remains of spider monsters, this Demon Mecha utilized a lot of black technology that humans had not yet mastered during its development.

When Eller saw the Demon Mecha's energy source, his eyes widened involuntarily, "The energy source for this mecha is a Shrinkage Reactor? You even dare to use this?"

The Demon Mecha's energy source was a Shrinkage Reactor, which could create an ultra-micro stable pseudo-black hole and extract dark matter from it to provide clean energy for the mecha.

The Demon Mecha's weapons were five spherical floating weapons controlled by the brainwaves of a qualified pilot. Ordinary humans would likely not be able to use these weapons effectively.

"At that time, everyone lacked knowledge about mechas, so we used technology that humans couldn't master to develop this prototype." Mechanic Mei began to tell the story behind the Demon Mecha.

"We lacked test pilots, so Norman volunteered to personally participate in the testing. Initially, we did collect useful data, but it wasn't until Norman died in an accident that we realized how dangerous the Demon Mecha was."

"An accident? What kind of accident?" Eller asked curiously, returning the tablet.

"Piloting the Demon Mecha required a lot of physical and mental exertion. Ordinary humans simply couldn't meet the piloting requirements of the Demon Mecha." Mechanic Mei said with a pained heart:

"Norman concealed this from us to accumulate data for the team. It wasn't until the last test, when his body could no longer hold on, that we learned about this."

It seems Norman Osborn in this Universe is a pure good guy... Eller thought to himself, then said to Mechanic Mei:

"Let's test my synchronization rate with this mecha. After all, this is just a 'transaction'."

The Green Goblin Mecha was a power that humans could not master. Richard Parker didn't care about it, and even detested it because of his best friend's death, which is why he used this mecha as compensation.

"Okay."

Mechanic Mei nodded, then took out a helmet with many electrodes and put it on Eller. "It's just like a normal ECG, it'll be done in a few minutes."

Just as Mechanic Mei said, Eller did feel a faint current flowing through his body, just like an ECG machine used during a hospital check-up.

[Synchronization Rate 76%]

"This number is even higher than Penny's mother's first time piloting the spider-mech."

Mechanic Mei looked at Eller's body readings with some disbelief. She watched this mysterious man remove the testing equipment, then said:

"Are you really human?"

"I'm just a little stronger than ordinary humans," Eller said firmly.

Although the Inferno Booster, Star Mark Magnum, and Desire Driver had merged into his body and become a part of him, Eller hadn't forgotten that he was still a human.

Mechanic Mei put down the tablet, then said to Eller, "Perhaps only someone with your extraordinary physique can pilot the Green Goblin Mecha. Out of my goodwill towards Penny, I can personally grant you a small request."

"Then help me change its appearance. I want it to be more distinctive," Eller said, looking at the Green Goblin Mecha's not-so-friendly-looking head.

Since it was also purple and green, and the first mecha that could be used in combat, why not make it more of a tribute?

Mechanic Mei switched the tablet's interface and handed it back to Eller. "You can supervise the modification. After all, it's just the appearance, I can get it done for you overnight."

This interface was like a character creation interface in a game. Eller slightly altered the Green Goblin Mecha's appearance based on his memory, making the face more 'heroic,' and adding a purple antenna on top of its head.

The first person to pilot the Green Goblin Mecha was Norman Osborn, and the design also considered an adult physique, so Eller could also fit himself inside.

After quickly modifying the appearance, Eller returned the tablet to Mechanic Mei, "I'm done, Ms. Mei."

Who knows how long this mecha can last in the Inheritors Family's hands... Eller thought casually.

Mechanic Mei took the tablet, glanced at the appearance Eller had modified, and didn't say much, just pushed up her glasses, then said:

"It can be transformed into your preferred style by tomorrow. When dealing with the Twin Demons the day after tomorrow, I hope you can help Penny a little more."

"Protecting Penny is my mission," Eller smiled slightly, then walked towards the door.

"Sir, where are you going?" Mechanic Mei asked.

"Of course, to check on that child's mental health. A fourteen-year-old child who has to bear the responsibility of protecting the City must be feeling down."

A period of time later

The Sun slowly set, and the golden sunset fell into the park, illuminating the leaves in a golden hue. A gentle breeze blew, creating a rustling sound.

The slowly swaying swing made a 'creak, creak' sound. A somewhat depressed Penny sat on it, swinging faster and faster, as if trying to shake off all her troubles.

Unconsciously, the swing was already very high, but Penny didn't care. And at this moment, a pair of hands forcefully controlled the swing.

"You're doing that too dangerously, Penny."

Penny looked back and saw a man with beautiful eyes looking at her. She recognized him as Mr. Eller, who had saved her earlier when dealing with the Fifth Demon.

"Mr. Eller, why are you here?" Penny asked.

"I came to see the little hero who protects Third New York City from evil." Eller smiled and sat on another swing, having a heart-to-heart with Penny.

"Your Mei told me where you might be. I searched everywhere and finally found you here."

"Little hero?" Penny's eyes lit up, then she poured out her heart to Eller, whom she hadn't known for long:

"You're the first person to call me that. Everyone else takes my fighting for granted... My Dad, the prevention agency people, the citizens, my classmates, they all treat me like I should be fighting, but I don't want to fight at all. I want my Mom."

As she spoke, Penny also started crying. She knew the prophecy mentioned she might die in the battle with the Twin Demons, and she was truly scared, so she burst into tears.
