Chapter 17 - Raven

The two found seats.

Bob's eyes lit up, about to dig in.

Alex snatched it away.

"Don't eat."

"Huh? Why?"

Bob's hand froze mid-air.

"This stuff's been tampered with."

"No way?"

Bob stared at the lunch box. His stomach growled.

"Wait."

Alex pulled out Lilian's lunch box from his bag.

Opened the lid—

Boom. The aroma hit.

Whole cafeteria filled with the smell.

Half the people turned their heads.

"Holy shit, what smells so good?"

"Over there!"

"Damn, what kind of godly lunch is that?"

Bob's mouth watered. He leaned closer.

"This... this is what Aunt Lilian made?"

"Yep."

Alex split half for him.

"Eat up."

Bob took a bite. Nearly died. "Oh my god..."

The two ate while watching the line.

Waiting for Rex to show up.

Alex started thinking about how to mess with Rex later.

Explosive potion...

What can it even do? Didn't find anything about it online.

His fingers tapped the table.

They ate for a bit.

Students in the cafeteria suddenly gasped.

"Holy crap!"

"Look look!"

"Beauty!"

Bunch of guys went stupid.

Eyes glued, spoons dropping.

"Oh my god..."

"Damn..."

Alex looked over too.

Paused.

That cool girl who stared at him before.

Bob poked Alex, nearly choking.

"Bro bro! That's Raven!"

"Who?"

"Raven!"

Bob lowered his voice.

"She awakened the strongest contract beast in Storm High! First contract beast is S+ Ice Dragon!"

Alex raised an eyebrow.

"Oh."

"Not just that!"

Bob kept going, hyped as hell.

"She's not just talented, family's loaded! And her looks, her body—no words!"

He swallowed.

"Heard she rejected dozens of guys just in first half of sophomore year. Still hundreds who don't dare confess!"

"Storm High's recognized school beauty!"

Alex nodded.

"S+ is pretty good."

Took another bite.

"Dragon-related beasts are strong."

Paused.

"But..."

He shrugged.

"Still can't catch this protagonist's eye."

Everyone around exploded.

"Huh?"

"What's this idiot saying?"

"Protagonist? Who does he think he is?"

Jeers everywhere. Some guy spit out his drink.

Someone recognized him.

"Wait, isn't that the guy who summoned X-rank portal but got a slime?"

"Holy shit, it is!"

"Sleep-talk bro!"

"Hahaha!"

Mocking all around.

"Loser like you could never get a beauty like that!"

"Dreaming much?"

"Slime matching Ice Dragon? Hilarious."

Alex let out a cold laugh.

Didn't care at all.

Protagonist wasting time on trash mobs? Nah.

Kept eating.

Over there.

Raven and her friend got their food.

She scanned the cafeteria.

Black straight hair moved with her.

Those curly bangs framed her face—manga character vibes.

Tall, graceful.

Cold aura kept people back.

But they kept looking anyway.

Several rich kids walked over, trying too hard.

"Raven, wanna sit together?"

"We got good seats—"

"No need, thanks."

Raven declined, ice cold.

Kept walking.

"Raven, my dad just got ice treasure from S-rank portal, want—"

"Don't need it."

Didn't even look.

Rich kids shuffled away.

Raven's friend whispered:

"You're too cold, they're at least—"

"Not interested."

Raven said flatly.

She kept scanning.

Looking for something.

Or someone.

Suddenly—

She spotted him.

That confident guy.

The one who didn't flinch when she stared.

Alex.

Her steps slowed. Eyes narrowed a bit.

Then walked straight toward Alex and Bob.

Students froze.

"What the?"

"Raven... going that way?"

"No way?"

"Isn't that the slime loser?"

Everyone stared at Alex's direction.

Whispers spreading.

Bob noticed.

Turned, saw Raven coming.

Went stiff. Fork clattered down.

"Bro... bro..."

Voice shook.

"Raven... coming over..."

Alex looked up.

Raven and her friend stopped at the table.

Raven looked at Alex.

Blinked once.

Fingers tapped her tray.

"This seat, anyone here?"

Alex looked her over. Took his time.

Mhm. Big chest, long legs, good style. Fair skin, pretty face, big eyes.

If Aunt Lilian was 100 points, this Raven was at least 98.

Different type of top-tier beauty.

Alex smiled.

"Nope."

Paused. Leaned back.

"But sitting next to me has conditions."

Raven's eyes widened slightly.

Bob went stupid. Grabbed Alex's arm, shook him.

"Dude! What the hell! This is the prettiest girl in school!"

Alex pressed him down with one hand.

Gave him a "leave it to me" look.

Bob froze. Jaw hanging.

Jeers came instantly, louder now.

"What? What's this idiot saying?"

"Conditions? Does he qualify?"

"Slime loser doesn't know his place!"

"Raven noticing you is already good!"

Some guys stood up. Faces red.

Raven's twin-tailed friend puffed her cheeks.

"How can you be like this!"

Voice sharp.

"You know who our Raven is? Genius girl! Total beauty!"

As she talked, her hand went on Raven's chest.

Smack!

Raven slapped it away.

"At home is fine. Outside, don't touch me randomly!"

Friend stuck out her tongue.

"Okay okay."

Raven turned back to Alex.

Brows drew together a bit.

Head tilted slightly.

Trying to figure him out.

What kind of person talks to her like this?

Fingers drummed once on the tray.

"What conditions?"

翻译成英文,记住我的要求!

Alex like her?

Wanna go after her?

Of course!

She's top-tier, plus she's loaded.

But everything needs the right approach.

Can't be like everyone else.

If he acted like those other guys—drooling the second they see her, ready to rip out their hearts for her—why would she even like him?

A man needs to be unique. Have standards. Think differently.

That's how you score points with a top-tier beauty.

Alex smiled.

"Our food's not enough. Can you guys share some of yours with us?"

The twin-tail girl Luna's eyes went wide.

She pointed at those two tampered lunch boxes.

"What the hell are you babbling about! Those are right there!"

Her face flushed red.

"You know how many people wanna buy Raven food and can't?! And you—"

Alex just struck a pose, hands spread.

"It's a long story."

He looked at Raven.

"Agree to my condition, you'll definitely get a good show later."

Bob looked completely lost.

Bro, what the hell is he doing?

Luna froze too.

"Good show? What good show?"

Raven stared at Alex.

Watched for a few seconds.

Then nodded.

"Fine."

She pushed half her lunch box over.

"I don't eat much anyway."

She thought about breakfast at home this morning. Plenty filling.

Luna's jaw dropped.

"Raven?! You're really—"

"It's fine."

Raven said flatly.

The place instantly exploded.

"What the?!"

"She agreed?!"

"Raven gave him her food?!"

"Am I seeing this wrong?!"

"What's happening?!"

Students stood up.

Someone slammed the table.

"Why him!"

"He's just a slime loser!"

"Raven actually sat next to him?"

"And gave him food?"

Some rich kid's face turned green.

"I've been trying for half a year, she won't even look at me!"

"This idiot says a few words and—"

Another guy gritted his teeth.

"Not fair! This is so unfair!"

"Something's wrong!"

"Yeah! Gotta be some scheme!"

Girls whispering too.

"How could Raven like him?"

"Did someone drug her?"

"Can't be... Raven's family is so strong..."

"Then what's good about him?"

Luna couldn't understand at all.

She stared at Alex, then looked at Raven.

"Raven, you... you sure?"

Raven didn't answer.

Just sat down quietly.

Right next to Alex.

The whole cafeteria vibe changed.

Jealousy, confusion, anger, shock.

All kinds of emotions mixing together.

Someone already pulled out their phone, sneaking pics.

"Damn, gotta post this on the forum!"

"Storm High's biggest gossip!"

"School beauty sitting with the slime loser?"

Alex completely ignored those stares.

He took Raven's lunch box, smiled.

"Thanks."

Then looked at Bob.

"Eat."

Bob still in a daze.

Nodded mechanically.

My bro... what the hell is he?
