Chapter 2 - Curse The Admins

Hours passed and the once dark patient room began to brighten considerably.

[Ding! The update has been installed successfully!]

[The system will now evolve according to the player Neoh's standards.]

The once blue system panel released a beam of golden light and entered into the glabella of Neoh.

[Ding!]

[Evolution complete! Please press next to reveal the newest state of your system!]

[Next] [Previous]

By the time Neoh woke up again, he was hit with the first rays of the rising Sun.

"What happened last night? It said system update then I was knocked unconscious." Neoh lifted his arm to rub his eyes, feeling that something was amidst.

"Oh, my joint pain is gone?" Amazed by the magical feeling, Neoh started twisting and turning on the bed, fully enjoying the sensation of a painless body.

After about an hour of doing stretches he never knew the human body could do, Neoh turned his attention to the floating system panel in front of him.

"Evolution complete? What is this anyway?" He stuck his hand underneath the system panel, hoping to grasp something that could help him understand the current situation.

"Is there a projector somewhere? Where is this light panel popping up from?"

As if the system was alive and listening in, a new system message popped up.

[Enough with the bullshit! Press next to reveal the new state of your system!]

[Next] [Previous]

Neoh looked at the message for a moment before he raised an eyebrow and scoffed. "This system has an attitude, I see. Very well, let me see what evolution a system like you can have!"

With that, Neoh tapped the [Next] button in front of him.

[Ding!]

[Welcome! Welcome! To your brand new evolved system!]

[Welcoming player Neoh to the Wandering Hero System!]

"Wandering Hero System? What a shitty name."

[For your first login, the system has granted you a starter gift pack!]

[The gift pack includes a , a , a <10x Normal Draw Ticket>, 3 & one !]

[Accept] [Decline]

"What happens if I press decline?" Neoh stared at the list of messages for a bit and muttered under his breath. Most people would usually accept the gift pack immediately, because who wouldn't want free stuff?

But for Neoh, despite having a dull head with missing memories, he still held on to his most important trait.

Neoh was a bastard gamer who only looked for hidden rewards!

Hovering his finger over the decline option, Neoh closed his eyes and took a deep breath. His finger then descended onto the system panel and selected the [Decline] option.

[Ding! Player Neoh has declined to accept the starter gift pack!]

[???]

[Ding! Ding! Ding!]

[Congratulations to player Neoh for discovering a hidden quest! Will you accept this quest?]

[Accept] [Decline]

"As I thought, there was a hidden feature to this thing..." Upon seeing the message, Neoh nodded his head in satisfaction.

Without hesitation, Neoh swiped his finger and accepted the hidden quest.

[Now loading the hidden quest...]

[Ding!]

[Load complete!]

[Welcome player Neoh to the Future!]

"Hmm? The future? As in, 30 years into the future?" Taken aback by the system's message, Neoh scratched his chin while he wore a confused expression.

[Incorrect! Player Neoh has arrived in the distant future, 2000 years to be exact!]

"Holy hell, was I asleep for that long?!"

[Shut up and let me finish!]

"..."

[Thank you.]

[Due to unforeseen circumstances, the world called Blue Star has fallen to monsters from other dimensions. It started around the time of 2012, when a Golden Gate descended from the Heavens. Humanity called it a gift from God, hoping to understand and harness the Golden Gate's energy for their own uses.]

[1 year later, while the research on the Golden Gate was going strong, a monster the size of a mountain emerged from the Golden Gate. With a swoop of its arms, thousands of human researchers and soldiers perished.]

[Since then, humanity was thrown into disarray as their main weapons, bullets, were ineffective at harming the towering monster. Humanity soon called the first monster, the Golden Behemoth.]

[It took humanity a hundred years and a billion lives to kill the Golden Behemoth using atomic weapons. That was when the world fell due to .]

"Wait what? How did humanity fall if they successfully killed the Golden Behemoth?" Upon reading the quest introductory, Neoh was stunned. He who knew how powerful atomic weapons were became confused at the last sentence of the story.

[As expected, Player Neoh thought exactly like the humans of the past. You failed to realize that the Golden Behemoth was merely a scout sent out of the Golden Gate to gather information about Blue Star!]

"Gat...Gather information??" Eyes widening, Neoh felt his three world views were being overturned.

If he read it correctly, it took humanity a century to kill a scout, not a vanguard nor a mini boss, a goddamn scout.

So by following that logic, if a scout dies, the main force would have sent more units to check out the situation.

And if the situation had become favorable, the main force would've arrived to claim it as one of their own...

[That's where player Neoh is wrong!]

"Hmmm?"

[Player Neoh is underestimating humanity and humanity's indomitable spirit!]

"So we won against the invaders?"

[No, the humans did lose the war.]

"..."

[Although the humans lost the war and the invaders succeeded in conquering the barren wastelands of Blue Star, humans have not gone extinct yet! And it was all thanks to the dragons!]

"Dragons helped humanity? I thought they were...Argh!" Without any warnings, Neoh clutched his head and screamed loudly as he felt his head splitting into two.

Following that, a warning message with a different system design materialized right in front of the patient with big bold golden letters.

{Warning! Warning! The player Neoh has triggered a locked memory! Due to lack of sufficient strength, the system has issued the player a penalty.}

Neoh ignored the red warning message as he was focused on resisting this sudden head splitting pain.

"Fuck...your...penalty!" Confused and enraged by the system's actions, Neoh's eyes turned red and his body was releasing steam.

[Ding! The player Neoh has completed a hidden quest!]

[Congratulations to player Neoh for completing the Xuan grade quest - Curse The Admins.]

Staring at the message sign, Neoh became speechless. So speechless and taken aback that his headache began to fade away...
