Chapter 409 - Chapter 408: Devoured

"Don't push yourself too hard!"

Camearra caught the small Plasma Spark fragment from Yu Zhou's hand and quickly retreated to a safer distance.

She planted the tiny torch-like device into the ground beside her, letting its warm light envelop her body as it began to restore her fading energy.

High above, Greeza's distorted, echoing laughter filled the air. Its semi-transparent body pulsed with violet light, firing countless erratic energy blasts in all directions.

Yu Zhou and Camearra were both caught within the barrage.

Yu Zhou raised one hand to form a shimmering barrier, shielding them from the worst of it, while his other hand unleashed a spiralling golden beam — a brilliant blast of light that shot straight toward Greeza.

The beam tore through the creature's body harmlessly, vanishing into the void beyond.

A squadron of fighter jets roared overhead, launching a barrage of missiles at the target — but, as expected, every strike passed uselessly through.

In retaliation, Greeza released a crackling thunderstorm of energy that struck several jets from the sky in a single instant.

"Mr. Keichii, please — think of something!"

The global representatives in the command hall were in a panic, watching the live broadcast unfold.

Sending fighter jets had been a desperate gamble, and it had utterly failed.

Now, there was nothing left to try — except to rely once more on the man who had written the "script of salvation."

Keichii felt the pressure closing in on him. He had already written his story — Tiga defeating Greeza — and yet it hadn't changed reality at all.

"I already wrote the ending!" he shouted helplessly. "What else do you expect me to do!?"

"Then think! There must be some weakness!" cried one of the representatives.

The most distraught of all was the delegate from Japan — after all, the battle was happening right on their soil. His city had been levelled into dust, and the sight of the destruction was enough to make his heart ache.

"According to the records," said a Nervous Tsuburaya representative, "Greeza's only known weakness is the Cosmic Needle. But… our world doesn't have one!"

Everyone fell silent at that.

No Cosmic Needle. No hope.

They all knew what that meant.

If Greeza won, everyone on Earth would die — together.

Suddenly, a horrified gasp rose from one of the technicians.

"Wait—look at the feed!"

On the screen, Greeza's twisted form flickered — and in the blink of an eye, it appeared right in front of Camearra.

Before Yu Zhou could react, Greeza's body distorted, its chest forming a black vortex that sucked Camearra inside.

"Camearra!!!"

Yu Zhou shouted, darting forward at the speed of light — but he was a heartbeat too late.

Camearra had vanished completely, swallowed by the void before his eyes.

"Damn it!"

Rage erupted within him. Without hesitation, Yu Zhou leaped straight toward Greeza, diving directly into the glowing vortex in its chest.

If she had been devoured… then he would follow her inside.

At that moment, across the entire world, all of Tiga's projected duplicates began to dissolve into shimmering motes of light — disappearing one by one into the sky.

"What—what just happened!?"

The representatives could only stare in disbelief.

Both Ultramen — Tiga and Camearra — had been swallowed whole.

Even the countless Tiga clones around the world had vanished.

At least, they had destroyed most of the monsters before disappearing. But there were still a few left — not that it mattered.

When the planet itself was about to die, what difference did a few monsters make?

On the screen, Greeza's body transformed. Its humanoid form collapsed inward, folding into a floating spiked sphere that hovered silently in the air.

It pulsed faintly, like something digesting its prey.

"It's over…" one representative whispered, his voice hollow.

Every face in the room turned grim. Their final hope had been devoured.

If both Ultramen were gone, who else could possibly stop this monster?

"Report!" a communications officer suddenly shouted. "We've found something! There's… there's still one Tiga on the ground near the battle site!"

Every head turned toward the monitor.

The feed showed a battered, motionless Tiga lying in the ruins — but alive.

He was still breathing, though unconscious.

And just like that, hope flickered back to life.

Even a single Tiga meant that humanity's light had not been completely extinguished.

Within the void space, there was only endless grey.

Yu Zhou held tightly to Camearra's hand, his body radiating light to protect them both from Greeza's corrosive darkness.

But he knew the light wouldn't last forever. Once his energy was gone, they would both be assimilated — absorbed into Greeza's being.

He remembered something — in Ultraman Z, Geed had once been swallowed by Greeza too, and inside this very void, he had found the Cosmic Needle that turned the tide.

Yu Zhou closed his eyes and began searching, reaching out with his senses for any trace of that strange, cosmic resonance.

But he found nothing.

If this Greeza had come from a universe after the events of Geed Twilight, then it made sense — the Needle was gone.

Without it, there was no way to harm the creature from within.

"Looks like… I'll have to use that move," Yu Zhou murmured.

He glanced down at the unconscious Camearra.

"Light… please protect her for me."

He raised his hand, and countless particles of light drifted out from his Colour Timer, gathering around Camearra and forming a glowing cocoon to shield her from the darkness.

Meanwhile, Daigo Madoka stirred.

He groaned softly, shaking off the dizziness clouding his head.

"What happened…?" he muttered, rising unsteadily to his feet.

The silence around him was unsettling. No voices, no movement — just the still air of a devastated city.

"Where is everyone?"

He spread his arms and took off into the sky to get a better view.

In the Global Council Hall, the moment they saw him on-screen, the room erupted.

"Tiga is awake!"

"He's back!"

"We're saved!"

Hope surged through every heart like a wave of light.

No one cared about appearances anymore — they clapped, cheered, and even cried.

Daigo didn't know he was being broadcast to the entire world.

Scanning the horizon, he soon spotted it — a massive spiked sphere, floating ominously in the distance.

Its surface shimmered with an eerie purple glow — the same as the monster that had struck him down earlier.

"So that's you," he said quietly, eyes narrowing.

He spread his arms, energy gathering between them as he drew it back — summoning the power of the Zeperion Beam.

With a thunderous roar, he fired.

A blazing white ray streaked across the sky, striking Greeza's spherical body dead centre.

For the first time, the beam didn't pass through — it actually hit. Energy exploded outward in blinding waves of light.

But when the smoke cleared… the sphere remained.

Unharmed. Unmoving.

"What?!" Daigo gasped.

He had hit it head-on — but it hadn't even flinched!

"I don't believe this!"

He switched to Power Type, charging up the Delacium Light Stream and firing again.

The result was the same — no effect.

Then he switched to Sky Type, his body glowing silver and violet, launching a rapid volley of Runboldt Shots.

Again — nothing.

The sphere didn't even react.

"Fine then!" he shouted. "If light won't work—then I'll fight you head-on!"

Transforming back into Multi Type, Daigo surged forward, closing the distance.

The air warped around him as space itself seemed to twist — the spiked sphere expanding and shrinking erratically, emitting that same warped, grating laugh.

He threw a punch straight at it—

And in that instant, the sphere distorted again, reshaping itself back into its original humanoid form — Greeza.
