"No… Frieza's power is far too terrifying. Even if Son Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan now, he might still not be a match. What do we do? Charging in would be no different from throwing our lives away." Hidden in the shadows and watching Goku and Frieza's fight without blinking, Musashi was, for once, sweating buckets.
Frieza's battle power was this monstrous. Even Goku, who had multiplied his strength several times over and was using the Fiftyfold Kaio-ken, was being beaten one-sidedly.
Or rather, from start to finish Frieza seemed to be playing—relaxed, at ease, holding back. And from the way he talked, he was only using thirty percent of his power. If thirty percent was already over two hundred million, wouldn't Frieza's full power be over eight hundred million?
At such a frightening level, he wasn't far off from Android 16.
"Fuse with me. Stall him as long as we can." Musashi said with difficulty. It was the only plan he could think of.
The one Musashi intended to fuse with was Raditz.
Only Raditz's battle power was close to his. Even if the other Chimera Ants fused with him, they'd still be throwing their lives away against Frieza.
In Frieza's eyes, there's no difference between an ant and a slightly bigger ant. Either way, just one finger to crush them.
Even fusing with Raditz, their odds of victory weren't even one percent.
"Musashi, how's it going over there?" Just as Musashi was torn between fusing for a do-or-die fight with Frieza or abandoning Namek, a familiar voice—like music to his ears—sounded beside him. "The main body—you bastard, you finally came back."
"Sorry, Musashi. Ran into a small problem. But I made it back from the Demon Realm, and the trip paid off big time." After a quick exchange to grasp the situation on Namek, Meruem spoke with a hint of apology.
Fortunately, events hadn't veered too far off course, even if Frieza's battle power had somehow climbed to such a terrifying level.
Still, things weren't that bad. The Demon Realm trip wasn't for nothing. That Demon Marshal Pudada was the strongest opponent he'd faced so far.
Even he had almost been killed.
But the gains were huge as well. Frieza, whose strength was nearly on a par with Android 16? If he hadn't gone to the Demon Realm, he might not have had much confidence.
Now, though, he put his odds against Frieza at over seventy percent.
And the other thirty? He feared he was just being humble.
"Main body—how long until you get here?" Musashi asked the only question that mattered most to him. Just now, Goku's assault had been crushed by Frieza yet again.
Goku was still wearing a smile, but his body was already covered in wounds.
If Frieza defeated Goku, the remaining Chimera Ants would truly be nothing more than ants before him.
"I'm already here." This time, Meruem's words weren't telepathy—he appeared directly in front of Musashi.
"Yo. I'm late."
"Heh-heh, Saiyan named Son Goku—let me ask you once more. Interested in working for me? I can treat you better than Captain Ginyu—even better than that Pui Pui. You're the strongest opponent I've encountered so far, though you're still a cut below me. You've got solid strength. Come, work for me—I won't shortchange you." Frieza extended an olive branch to Goku again. In truth, Frieza very much wanted him as a subordinate.
A subordinate this powerful—there weren't many in the entire universe (including those in the sealed domains).
"Sorry. Not interested." Goku refused again without hesitation.
"Is that so?" Frieza wasn't surprised. Goku had already turned him down once earlier in the fight.
"In that case, I'll have to ask you to die." Frieza flashed Goku a sinister smile.
"What are you doing?" Goku shouted, but he barely had any strength left. Even standing was hard, yet Frieza's next move made him tense.
Frieza didn't attack him as expected. Instead he turned his attention to Krillin and the others lying on the ground, their fates unknown.
"Don't worry, Son Goku—I'll kill you sooner or later. But first, I have to kill these pests who dared oppose Lord Frieza. They must die." Krillin and Tien Shinhan's bodies rose into the air under Frieza's telekinesis.
Frieza sent Goku another evil grin. "I spared them before. Now I'll finish them in front of you."
"Die!" With a cruel twist, there was a pop, and Krillin and Tien's bodies exploded.
"AAAAHHH! Bastard! You bastard!" In that moment, Goku felt his world collapse. Krillin might not have been strong, but he was Goku's closest friend—and now, killed before his eyes.
Krillin had already been resurrected once. Not even the dragon could bring him back again.
Rage. Goku had never been so angry. Threads of golden aura began to flicker in his hair and the energy streaming off his body.
"O-ho-ho. That's what happens when you oppose Lord Frieza. Who should I execute next? That traitor Vegeta? Or the nauseating green-skinned Namekian?" Frieza muttered to himself, oblivious to the change overtaking Goku.
"I'm going to kill you! Aaaaah!" Golden aura, emerald eyes, and a titanic surge of power.
In that instant, Goku finally transformed into a Super Saiyan.
"Son—" Feeling the immense power pouring off him, Piccolo clutched his chest and looked up at Goku in the sky.
"Super… Saiyan?" Piccolo wasn't the only one to sense it. Even Vegeta, whose consciousness had nearly been knocked out by Frieza's punch, noticed Goku's change.
"Oh? What kind of trick is this? When did you dye your hair? Such a childish stunt." Frieza was the last to notice the change in Goku. Unable to sense ki, he didn't realize that Goku had transformed into the once-in-a-millennium legend of the Saiyan race—
The legendary Super Saiyan!
"Damn you, Kakarot… so you beat me to it after all. So this is what a true Super Saiyan looks like." Vegeta stared up at Goku in a daze, like a man dreaming.
He quickly snapped out of it, only for deep, gnawing unwillingness to take hold.
I'm the Saiyan prince. How did a mere low-class warrior surpass me again?
"If I could knock you down once, I can knock you down a second time!" A thought flashed through Frieza's mind—was this fellow really a Super Saiyan? He quickly hurled the thought aside.
Super Saiyan or not, I'm going to kill you!
Frieza drove a straight punch at Goku's face. If Goku hadn't transformed, he would surely have been nailed by it.
But now Goku was a Super Saiyan, first stage. He simply raised his right hand and caught Frieza's fist, clamping down hard.
His grip was so strong that Frieza couldn't yank his arm free for a moment.
"Oh? You seem different. Your power's gone up quite a bit. Is this so-called Super Saiyan?" Frieza didn't panic at having his arm seized. He was almost curious.
In truth, Frieza had never seen a real Super Saiyan. He was only wary because of the Frost Demons' ancestral warnings.
To be honest, at his current power, he had little fear of a first-stage Super Saiyan. Of course, the legendary Super Saiyan Broly—the inhuman monster—was an exception.
Even Super Saiyan 2 might not fare well against that thing.
"I don't know if this is a Super Saiyan, and I don't care. Right now, I just want to beat you senseless, Frieza." A furious light flashed in Goku's green eyes—boundless rage over his friend Krillin's murder.
"Hm-hm-hm… hahahaha… o-ho-ho-ho! Funniest joke I've heard. Saiyan, do you think a little bump in strength lets you match me? You Saiyans are so stupid—you'll never grasp the true gulf between us. Tell me your name. You're as foolish as the rest, but at least you've earned the right for me to remember it," Frieza bragged—and he had the power to back it up.
"Son Goku. Remember it—the owner of this name is going to take you down." Goku shot back without flinching.
"Son Goku, huh? Noted. You don't think this is all my power, do you?" Frieza said, amused.
"Is that so? Good. I'm holding back a bit myself."
