The capital was divided into two parts, the outside wall, inhabited by the commoners and the merchants, and the inside part, a small circle made for nobles visiting in bi occasions such as this one
Torden woke up to the sound of a horn followed by drums of celebration, the first morning of the festival erupted, that was the announcement, walking around the house he and his family were given, he found none of them
He washed his teeth, hair, wearing some clean clothes he went towards the window seeking some fresh air
From underneath the wooden planks he over heard a conversation between two guards of the capital who were eating breakfast
"The 50th birthday of the current crown is it not?" said the first
"And the 8th to wear it as well, no wonder all the big games are attending this year, by the end of the month the prince shall be announced to inherit the crown" said the second
"I heard the Varish's king won't be doing so" said the first
"You mean the rumours about him being sick? There is no way that bear like creature is bedridden" said the second
"But who will be attending in his stead?" asked the first
"Most likely it is going to be the Great reader of theirs, I believe his name is Brone" said the second
"A Great reader?" said the first
"Yeh, don't you know about that role?" said the second
"If I did, I wouldn't be asking such questions" said the first
"We don't have such role here in the capital so I don't blame you" said the second, he took a bite of his food before he continued
"You know how the Varish's people who live inside the capital cannot interact with us; a master reader is the one in charge of wish info reaches them"
"that's crazy" said the first
"Yeh, imagine having what info reach you by other people, and needing an official imprint from the crown to be able to leave the walls, id hate to live in such a world" said second
"They need an official agreement from the crown to leave it?" said the first
"Pretty hard for merchants and traveling traders in their" said the second
"I bet they are filling their skulls with lies, deceiving acts and all kinds of propaganda that serves them right" said the first
"Congrats on discovering the obvious" replied the second
They went their way as Torden walked downstairs. Nobles from all places in the capital walked the streets, the market was full of high-priced jewellery, perfumes from across the land, high quality leathers as well as animals from all kinds
Checking the market, he heard a horn blowing once more, it was placed upon a carriage decorated in golden lines, it went from one street to the other spreading this info
"What was that" a noble man asked the merchant before him
"This is used to announce that you should be walking to the king's hall," said the merchant
Torden did notice so, he saw people march forward after hearing it as well
He saw the castle huge reaching towards the clouds, the large glass windows had a mix of blue and red covering them, but was more exciting and magnificent to look at, was the kraken carved into it
His limbs reached downwards, his head was no where to be seen, they were like needles going in and out of the walls, keeping it all together as if pulling fabric
Reaching stairs, he walked up to the doors, the headless monster's armes went through the ground,
"Where do they end?" asked Torden
"This is a question that was asked for decades" said a women's voice from behind him
Looking back, he found it to be an old one, wearing expensive clothes and jewellery, black haired with blue eyes, a sharp look coloured them
"I am sorry but, wish noble house are you from?" asked Torden
"I don't think that many wrinkles are covering me, or maybe I haven't visited my son in a long time, bet his offspring don't know of my existence," said the old woman
"Grandma Rose?" said Torden looking closer
"Good grief, took you long enough, Wont you give me a hug?" said Grand lady Rose of house Waster
"In this crowded space? I would rather save it for another day" said Torden
"Good at finding excuses huh" said Grand lady Rose "Did you father never talk about my existence to you both? Did he fake my death or something"
"Well, mother did" said Torden as they walked inside
"I know that at least she would do so" said Grand lady Rose
"So why haven't you visited in the last… I don't know 15 years?" said Torden
"Well, before your birth things happened and… I am no grand lady no more" said Grand lady Rose
"You can still visit it; you're just trying to make up excuses" said Torden
"I am learning from the best" said grand lady Rose as if paying him back for earlier
They went through the Round big Ornated door, it wasn't crowded anymore, the hall was huge, walls had the tentacles come in and out of them, beside them the story of the Kazars crossing the sea was engraved
"So… where do we go now?" said Torden
"Up their" said Grand Lady Rose pointing at some stairs in front of them, they were there to separate the low from the high-status people
Walking across Torden saw his family greeting the king, although his brother Fraymon was nowhere to be seen, beside his highness stood his heir and the eldest, his son, Rafam, behind him was his daughter and the second of his offspring, Rembya
"Your highness" said both of Torden and grand lady Rose as greeting him
"Lady Rose! Haven't seen you in a while" said king Gerdon, he had a brown coloured hair
"It is my pleasure your highness" said Grand lady Rose
"You must be Torden, the eldest of lord Kailer," said King Gerdon turning to Torden
"I greet the king of Kazar" said Torden before the king Stopped him raising his hand and spoke saying
"Stop it with the official stuff, I heard it enough today" said King Gerdon "This, is my son, heir to my thrown and my eldest" said King Gerdon pulling Rafam closer with both hands on his shoulders
The prince had light brown haired, short, taking some facial feature from his father, while the rest are from his dead mother
"My greetings, prince Rafam" said Torden
"Lord Kailer, we haven't seen each other in quite a while," said Prince Rafam
"Oh yeh, we were about 6? Maybe 8-year-olds when we last met each other" said lord Torden
"Oh, don't worry, I do remember it clearly—" said Prince Rafam, King Gerdon cut him saying
"You can remanence about the past another time, Lord Torden went through a harsh week, he needs to have some fun" said King Gerdon as he looked back and let someone through
"This is my daughter Rembya, I believe she knows the castle best, and I bet you two would have a wonderful experience," said King Gerdon
"My lady" said Torden as both of them bowed in respect, her hair was of a light bland colour
"Now go have some fun, after all" said King Gerdon as his gaze shifted slowly towards lord Kailer "We need to strengthen our ties in times like these
"Now go children, a chance like this comes once in a lifetime" he said Staring into the eyes of his daughter before he shifted view towards who he stood by
Through the empty door a presence turned the hall silent, it was Brone, the master reader of the Varish Kingdom, Nobles stared right into his soul, glares came like spears sharpened with hate and envy
He was escorted by two Sigel knights from the Varish Capital, one with a halberd, and another who was a dual sword user, each had their Sigel stitched to their chest plat
The eyes followed him as he walked with confidence, such things wouldn't affect someone with his status after all
Reaching the king he bowed respectfully and said "You majesty"
Nobles awaited a harsh response, but King Gerdon gave him a smile while saying
"I guess that monster is busier then usual, how is King Arthur doing? I heard his health is not so good"
"You are indeed on point, although he managed to break through most of it" said great reader Brone
"As long as he sent someone, he trusts I am satisfied," said King Gerdon
"I thank the compliment" replied Brone, the room was still silent, the king turned coldly towards the musicians and spoke
"Did I order you to stop?"
The sounds continued as people went on not daring to put down a stiff foot to rest
The party continued on, Torden was being escorted by Rembya around, his brother Fraymon was dragged around by the third daughter of the king a dark bland-haired girl whose name was Honaya
