Standing up, Benjamin said to Ava, "Mrs. Williams, can you grab me some bed sheets? I'm beat."
"Sure!" Ava was caught off guard by Benjamin's intense look, her heart racing. She wasn't sure if she was shy or just plain nervous, but she nodded without thinking.
As she turned to get the sheets, she suddenly remembered there was only one bed in her and Daniel's room, and the guest room was empty.
"Sorry, we don't have any spare beds in the house." Ava looked at Benjamin apologetically, feeling a bit lost.
Since it was just Daniel and Ava in the villa, there were no extra beds or bedding. With Daniel's situation still up in the air, Benjamin couldn't exactly crash in his dad's room. So, he had two choices: sleep on the couch or share a room with Ava.
Benjamin had slept in way worse places during his missions abroad. Eyeing the couch, he said, "It's cool, I'll crash on the couch."
Since Benjamin offered to sleep on the couch, Ava couldn't really suggest he share her room.
"Alright, let me get you a blanket. It's kinda chilly with the AC on at night, don't want you catching a cold." Ava went to her room and brought back a thin blanket for Benjamin,
which still had her scent on it.
After Ava went back to her room, Benjamin took a shower in the living room's bathroom. He came out wearing just a towel, showing off his muscular, scarred body.
He couldn't sleep yet, so he checked the fridge and found a few cans of beer. He sat at the coffee table and started drinking. Over an hour later, after finishing the beer and sorting out his thoughts, he was about to hit the couch when Ava came out.
She was wearing a semi- transparent nightgown, and to his surprise, it was backless with pink buds peeking through the fabric.
Benjamin stared at Ava, not sure what she was up to. Ava suddenly remembered she wasn't alone in the house. Her room wasn't the master bedroom, so it didn't have a private bathroom.
She was heading to the bathroom when their eyes met, and an indescribable feeling spread through their bodies.
The heartbeats of both sped up like crazy, an indescribable feeling bubbling up inside them. Benjamin, in his twenties, had never had a girlfriend.
Ava wasn't much better off; thanks to her strict upbringing, she stayed a virgin even after she graduated college and started working.
Facing Daniel, who was twenty years older than her, Ava never even thought about him that way. Even though they were married, Ava had never been close to Daniel, not even holding hands.
But now things were different. Benjamin was strong and had even saved her earlier that day. Deep down, she could accept him more easily.
Plus, Benjamin's handsome face was hard for most women to resist, just like how men can't stop staring at a beautiful woman. Of course, women are better at hiding it.
Benjamin's muscular chest and eight-pack abs were on full display, but not overly bulky, giving off a masculine and sexy vibe. Ava blushed as she looked, forgetting that she was also in a revealing outfit, with half of her ample chest exposed.
The initial heart-pounding eye contact gradually turned into awkwardness. Benjamin suppressed his desire and asked, "What are you doing?"
Ava quickly looked away from Benjamin's muscular body and stammered, "I'm going to the bathroom!"
After speaking, she hurriedly left Benjamin's sight, darting into the bathroom like she was escaping. Her heart was pounding, not knowing why she was so nervous seeing Benjamin's bare upper body.
After using the bathroom and washing her face, she looked at herself in the mirror, her face still slightly flushed, with Benjamin's image lingering in her mind.
She stayed in the bathroom for a couple of minutes before coming out, but Benjamin was no longer in the living room. She looked around and suddenly saw a sturdy figure drinking beer on the balcony. Whenever Ava saw Benjamin's back, she felt a pang of tenderness, wanting to care for this younger man.
Ava was ready to talk to Benjamin about his apparent worries, but ultimately gave up the idea. They weren't close, and even if she asked, he might not tell her. There would be plenty of opportunities in the future anyway.
At night, one in the bedroom and one in the living room, but both couldn't sleep.
In the pitch-black night, unable to fall asleep, Benjamin missed his father and sister, while Ava imagined how difficult it must be for Benjamin to wander alone outside and how they would get along in the future.
It wasn't until one or two in the morning that they gradually fell asleep. The next day, waking up, Benjamin found a note on the coffee table signed by Ava, with elegant and flowing handwriting.
Ava's handwriting was beautiful, and it said that breakfast was ready in the kitchen for Benjamin to eat when he woke up, and his clothes were washed, to return home by five in the evening.
After reading it, a long-lost smile appeared on Benjamin's face. Although he found it amusing, he felt warm inside. After eating breakfast, Benjamin prepared to go to the police station.
However, as soon as he stepped out, his phone rang, "Benjamin, are you up?" Sophia's charming voice came through the phone.
"I've been up for a while!".Benjamin asked, "Sophia, do you need something?"
Knowing that Benjamin had something to deal with, Sophia didn't insist on him staying for dinner last night. Today, she specially bought many dishes that Benjamin liked when he was young, planning to invite him for lunch.
"What! Can't I call you without a reason, Benjamin? You must come to my house for lunch at noon, I won't say more, my son is crying!"
Before Benjamin could refuse, Sophia hung up. Knowing that Sophia was worried and intentionally hung up early to avoid rejection, he naturally couldn't refuse her kindness. He arrived on time for lunch.
As he left the neighborhood, Benjamin hailed a taxi straight to the police station. He had to see his father's autopsy report to find out the cause of death and see if he could find any clues.
