~Abigail's POV~
When they finally pull away, they start filling me in on Paris. Of school, friends, the food, the city. The way they speak about it, the light in their eyes…I don't think they ever want to leave. And honestly, it makes me happy knowing they're somewhere safe and actually living.
"You know, Darius is actually really great," Esther says suddenly around a mouthful of burger.
I blink at her. "You think?"
Debbie sighs like she's been waiting for me to say that. "Abby, you've been in a coma for a week. A whole week. And he practically lived here. The only nights he wasn't sleeping on that chair were the two nights we stayed over. He came right back at dawn."
Esther snorts. "Even when I kicked him and told him it was his fault, he didn't argue. He just… took it."
I can't stop the small smile tugging at my lips. Of course he did.
"What about Taro?" I ask quietly. "Any sign of him?"
