Chapter 10 - THE SPY’S FALL

They 📖 Chapter Ten:

[The Spy's Fall]

Back at the hospital, the air was heavy with tension. Kite remained unconscious, his vitals stable but fragile. Nkemdilim and Ejiro stayed close, watching over him like sentinels. Amaka paced the hallway, her mind racing.

Dimeji sat in a corner, fingers flying across his tablet. He'd cracked into Shadow's encrypted messages. The trail was clear now.

Dimeji:

"He's working for one of Luc's top men. A politician. Lagos-based. Dirty money. Dirty hands."

Amaka:

"Then we go. Just us. The rest stay with Kite."

Nkemdilim:

"Be careful. Lagos isn't kind to truth."

Ejiro (in pidgin):

"Una go Lagos? Abeg no go chop poison jollof o. And if una see my ex, slap am for me!"

They smiled. But the mission was serious.

🕵️‍♂️ The Hunt in Lagos

Dimeji and Amaka arrived in Lagos under cover. They tracked Shadow to a luxury apartment in Ikoyi—owned by Senator Olatunji, a man known for his philanthropy and rumored ties to Luc's network.

Inside, they found evidence: documents, burner phones, and a damning video.

Amaka (watching the footage):

"He diverted funds meant for a community health project. Children died because of this."

Dimeji:

"We leak it. Tonight."

(📹 The Exposure)

The video went viral within hours. News outlets picked it up. Social media exploded. Senator Olatunji's face was everywhere—caught red-handed, laughing as he signed off on fake invoices.

Shadow, real name Chima, panicked. He tried to flee.

But Dimeji was waiting.

🔫 The Confrontation

In a dark alley behind the senator's compound, Shadow ran. Amaka cornered him. Dimeji raised his weapon.

Shadow:

"You don't understand! I was just following orders!"

Dimeji:

"You sold out lives. You sold out Ejiro."

A shot rang out.

Shadow screamed. His leg buckled. Blood pooled.

Amaka:

"Where's Luc?"

Shadow (gasping):

"You'll never reach him…"

He vanished into the shadows. No trace. No trail. Just blood and silence.

(🏥 Back at the Hospital)

Ejiro danced around Kite's bed with a bottle of malt.

Ejiro (in pidgin):

"Dem shoot am for leg? Good! Na that leg e take waka go betray me. Make e limp for life!"

Nkemdilim:

"You're savage."

Ejiro:

"I be heartbreak survivor. Na we dey form club. Entry fee na one bottle of tears and two curses."

They laughed. But the war was far from over.

laughed. But beneath the humor, the pain lingered.
