Chapter 4 - THE PATH THAT REACHES SOMEWHERE

In this world, every person who awakens a fragment must walk on a Dominion, a great path of power that shapes their future. There are thirty-three Dominions in total, each with its own secrets and glory. From these Dominions spring countless Branches, smaller choices that refine one's skills.

Some Dominions are simple but strong, like the Dominion of Strength, which holds the Branches of Warrior, Knight, Berserker, and Hand Combat. Then comes the Dominion of Weapons, where one may choose to walk as a Swordsman, Spearman, Archer, or even a Dual-Blade user.

There is the Dominion of Healing, split into Branches like Self-Healer, Spirit Healer, or Lifebinder who can heal both body and soul. The Dominion of Speed grants Branches like Swiftfoot, Shadow Dancer, and Windrunner.

Others are more mysterious, such as the Dominion of Souls, with Branches like Seer, Necromancer, and Dreamcaller. The Dominion of Magic is vast, holding Mages, Elementalists, and Alchemists.

Some Dominions are defensive, like the Dominion of Guardians, with Wardens, Tanks, and Shieldbearers. Others are strange and rare, like the Dominion of Illusion or the Dominion of Beasts, where one becomes a Beast Tamer or Shapeshifter.

Each Dominion has power, but what makes a person great is not only which Dominion they choose, but how far they can push its limits. The 33 dominions are :

Obviously, one needs to choose a Dominion based on the fragments they awaken. A Healing fragmenter cannot walk the Dominion of Strength, just as someone with a weapon fragment cannot enter the Dominion of Faith. The very first requirement when choosing a Dominion is to align it with your fragments.

My sister Elara, for example, will choose the Dominion of Mind, because her rare silvery-blue fragment boosts her intelligence and brain power. But for me… it's different. I don't even know what my fragment's ability is yet.

I lowered my gaze to my forearm. The fragment etched there was strange—a triangle, its white glow faint but steady, with thin stripes or cuts running across its surface. It didn't resemble any fragment I had seen in my past life.

White fragments… what even were they? In my previous life, my fragment had been grey, plain and dull. But now, this—this was something completely different.

I clenched my fist and whispered to myself, "Let's see what you can do."

That night, after Elara had gone to sleep, I sat cross-legged on my bed. The room was dark and silent, only the sound of the wind brushing against the window. I closed my eyes and began to meditate.

In this world, the Fragment Core was always connected to the mind. If someone wanted to truly understand their fragment, they had to look inward first.

Breathing slowly, I focused on the white triangle etched on my forearm. At first, there was nothing. Just emptiness. But then… faint letters appeared in the darkness of my mind.

Absolute Purity.

The words echoed again and again, as if they were carved into my soul. I didn't know what they meant, but I could feel power behind them.

As I sank deeper into meditation, the triangle of my fragment appeared before me, glowing in white light. The three corners began to shine, each one representing something different. Slowly, I understood. My power was not one, but three variations.

The first corner pulsed with the word Disintegrate—a force that could break down and erase.

The second corner shimmered with Disorient—a power to twist and confuse.

The last corner was Construct condensing particles and creating objects.

My mind trembled as the construct of my power unfolded before me. I could see flashes of how it could be used, visions too quick to grasp.

When I finally opened my eyes, my body felt cold, my heart racing. I stood up, staring at the fragment on my arm.

The next morning, before Elara woke up, I slipped out of the house quietly and went behind the small garden near the fields. Nobody was there. It was the perfect place to test my fragment. The fresh morning air and cold breeze I felt it all on my face.

I stared at the white triangle on my forearm. One corner glowed faintly, a soft white light pulsing like a heartbeat. Suddenly, a word flashed in my mind.

Disorient.

The moment the word appeared, I felt my body turn lighter. My arms, my legs, even my breathing—it was as if a heavy chain had been lifted off me. I took one step forward and almost stumbled, not because I was weak, but because my body moved faster than I expected.

"Whatt.. is ..this its like I put all my stats points in my Agility and speed.. well calm down clam down .....inhale.....exhale..."

Calm ok... let's do this again

I tried again, running this time. My speed doubled in an instant. The world around me blurred as I dashed across the field, the wind tearing past my ears.

Haaaahahaaaaaa ooooohhhh I am flyinggggg hahhaah

My feet barely touched the ground, and for a moment, it felt like I was flying.

"Hah… hahh…" My chest burned as I forced myself to keep going, circling around again and again.

But after only a few minutes, my vision spun. My legs gave out.

"Huff… huff…" I dropped to the grass, gasping for air. My whole body shook.

"So… this is Disorient…" I whispered, before almost fainting.
