Chapter 62 - KRYPT-Ch.62: Leaving the Mansion

Matthew Atkinson & Natalie Russell

Second Layer of the Supernatural Realm

"These monsters can actually run away?" Upon seeing the fleeing monsters, Matthew frowned.

Actually, with Matthew's speed, catching up with these monsters would be no problem at all.

Only… The monsters scattered and fled!

Even if Matthew chased, he could only follow one line at a time and couldn't kill many of them.

So, he threw down his hammers and punched a group of monsters that were running away!

[Fist Impact!]

-Bang!

The air exploded.

The powerful force of the punch, like countless blades, gathered together to form a suffocating wind torrent that charged towards the monsters.

-Puff, puff, puff...

Five or six monsters in front of them were instantly shredded into pieces!

This made Natalie's heart pound with fear.

Matthew frowned and sighed, "My strength is still too weak."

He was just expressing his feelings.

If he were as strong as Monkey D. Garp, he could jump into the air and unleash a "Galaxy Impact" to wipe out all the fleeing monsters and even destroy the ancient city.

However, his words left Natalie speechless.

He had already attained such terrifying, extraordinary strength two months after becoming a supernatural, and was he still not satisfied?

If Matthew used this move on her, she would probably die instantly, right?

After all, she was not yet able to transform into elemental form.

With her constitution, she definitely couldn't endure that attack.

Meanwhile, the rest of the monsters have vanished without a trace.

Matthew stopped the pursuit and asked, "Natalie, approximately how many monsters did I just kill?"

"1372." The girl directly stated an exact number.

Matthew was taken aback.

He greatly admired Natalie's memory and meticulousness.

Then he frowned and said, "Only a little over 1,300? Is that enough for a perfect mission rating?"

"Our combined quest progress should be 1401 monsters, and I just killed 29..."

Towards the end of her sentence, the girl blushed slightly, a little embarrassed.

After all, the number of monsters she killed was a fraction of Matthew's. She only managed to finish them off by picking off the stragglers.

She initially thought that, upon entering the supernatural realm, she would be the one to save Matthew's life.

Unexpectedly, Matthew ended up taking her to the skies!

"Oh?" Matthew immediately encouraged, "That's very good!"

"If we calculate it this way, our mission progress must have a big gap from others, so we should be able to get a perfect mission rating, right?"

Natalie did not respond to this.

Because she didn't know if this number of monsters killed would be enough to get a perfect mission rating.

"If only all these monsters were fearless! If I could kill them all, we'd definitely get a perfect mission rating," Matthew sighed.

Natalie thought for a moment and said, "These monsters have a certain level of intelligence. It's normal that they were scared out of their wits and chose to run away."

...

At the same time, outside the mansion, the supernatural individuals hiding in the shadows were all taken aback when they saw the monsters retreat like a tide, all fleeing.

"What's going on? Those monsters seem a little scared?"

"You're seeing things. How could these terrifying monsters possibly feel fear?"

"Then why did these monsters flee from the mansion?"

"Perhaps it's because they couldn't break through after a long siege and didn't want to make pointless sacrifices, so they chose to leave!"

"So, what do we do now?"

"Avoid these monsters first..."

Similar conversations echoed in every dark corner.

Then everyone noticed that many figures emerged from the surrounding dark areas and hid inside the houses.

"That man just now… looked like Tom Hades!" Ogino Kin said.

Another teammate next to him chimed in, "At least three teams are hiding on the left side!"

Tanaka Akihiro frowned upon hearing this but showed no surprise.

He had anticipated that his peers would all join in the fun.

"Captain, what do we do?" a teammate asked.

Tanaka Akihiro made the same choice as everyone else, which was also the right one. "Let's go inside the building to hide. We should avoid those monsters first."

Everyone came down from the roof and hid inside the house.

-Rump, rump, rump

Not long after they hid, they heard countless vibrations from afar, rapidly approaching.

Tanaka Akihiro and the others all knew that these were the sounds of a large army of monsters.

The group was immediately terrified, and they didn't even dare to breathe loudly. They were afraid of being discovered by passing monsters.

In fact, their worries were completely unnecessary.

At this moment, the monsters had no interest in observing whether there was any prey around them. They only wanted to escape from here as soon as possible, to escape from that Monster!

They could endure hunger, but staying here would be fatal.

In just a few breaths, the monster army quickly left the area and disappeared into the darkness further away.

Only after realizing that the main force of monsters had gone far away did these freshmen dare to peek out and check the situation.

...

Inside the mansion.

"Those monsters are gone, Matthew. What do we do next?" As Natalie said this, her delicate eyebrows furrowed slightly.

There were too many monster corpses around. The stench was overwhelming and extremely pungent.

It was very sickening.

"Let's go too!" Matthew said. "It stinks here. Let's find a cleaner place!"

Natalie nodded. She strongly agreed with Matthew's suggestion.

Because she was someone who cared about her cleanliness, this kind of environment made her feel a little uncomfortable.

"Natalie, wait a moment. I need to tidy up this place a bit and then look around to see if there are any clothes in the surrounding rooms."

As Matthew spoke, he began to make arrangements for the surroundings.

His main objective was to move most of the monster corpses to the area next to the training ground, and then have Natalie set them on fire.

Only then did he go to find clean clothes.

He was covered in blood, and his upper clothes were torn beyond recognition by the monsters. He desperately needed some cleanup.

Matthew searched through all the rooms and actually found some clothes.

However, they were all clothes from ancient times.

Of course, for now, he could only make do with wearing this… toga for the time being.

He took off his blood-stained and torn top and put on a clean set of toga. He didn't take off his pants because he didn't think he'd be comfortable just wearing the skirt-like style of the toga.

When Matthew reappeared before Natalie, he looked like a Roman noble rather than a warrior.

"Natalie, how do you like my new style?" Matthew asked with a smile.

Natalie reminded him, "Matthew, you can't bring anything into the supernatural realm this time, and similarly, you can't take anything out of the supernatural realm. The clothes you're wearing might automatically take off when you're teleported back after the mission ends."

Matthew was taken aback, then patted his forehead. "I almost forgot that."

But he wasn't worried. Because he only took off his shirt, but didn't change his pants or underwear.

Even if the clothes he found here disappeared when they returned, only his upper body would be left naked. For a man, this wasn't a big deal.

"There's no point in worrying about that right now, Natalie. Let's go."

The two left together.

The moment the two stepped out of the mansion, they immediately sensed that many eyes were watching them from the darkness.

"Matthew, there are quite a few people around," Natalie whispered as a reminder.

Matthew gave a slight sneer and said. "Don't mind them, let's go our own way."

These new students probably didn't have any mission progress yet, so Matthew had no interest in them whatsoever.
