Selene's POV

The air inside my consultation room still shimmered faintly with the last traces of moonwater magic, and for a moment I allowed myself to breathe deeply and close my eyes, attempting to steady the uneasy rhythm inside my chest. Lucian stood near the door, waiting for me to finish arranging my tools so we could return to our bedroom and finally rest. My heart had not settled since the moment Azerath revealed himself earlier, and despite my calm expression I felt the constant hum of danger vibrating beneath my skin.

I turned to blow out the last candle when the floor trembled beneath us so violently that the flame snapped sideways and vanished in a puff of smoke. The room shuddered as if an unseen force had struck the very foundation of the pack house, rattling every shelf and sending a sharp crack through the ceiling. The moonwater bowl rippled violently on its pedestal and splashed silver drops across the carved wood.
