Chapter 76 - CHAPTER 76 — The Gathering of Shadows

Selene's POV

The journey back to the pack house felt longer than the trip to the cathedral ruins, even though none of us spoke a word on the way. The night air pressed against my skin heavily, as if the shadows themselves were whispering warnings we were not ready to hear.

When we finally crossed the protective border of Moonfang territory, the pack house lights glowed warmly through the forest. But that warmth did not reach my chest. Not after everything Howard had revealed. Not after seeing how the glow beneath Lyra's skin had pulsed, stronger, hungrier, just moments ago.

Adrian carried her to the house, his eyes dark and clouded with thoughts too heavy for him to speak out loud.

Lucian walked beside me in silence, but his hand found mine and held it tightly. That touch alone reminded me that:

I was not alone.

But I was deeply, deeply afraid.
