Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Terror Cavern

Under the dense rain of arrows from Kleber's longbows, the barbarian coalition forces could not even touch the phalanx of Kleber's spearmen and began to retreat.

The mountain wind is cold and stings the skin.

The air was filled with the smell of blood and the sounds of wailing were endless everywhere.

The killing continues.

One of Kleber's soldiers caught up with a fleeing mountain barbarian. He gripped his sword tightly and, with a thud, stabbed it fiercely into the barbarian's armpit.

The long sword pierced the savage's ribs and went into his heart. When the tribesman pulled out the long sword, warm blood gushed out.

Knight Mason bravely rushed to the front line.

Facing a mountain savage's spear charging towards him, he easily dodged sideways, took the opportunity to clamp the spear shaft with one hand, swung the sword swiftly, and cut off the savage's head with one blow.

Kleber's longbowmen were divided into groups of 20 to 30 people, coordinating the strangulation.

The pursuit of the savages seemed like a one-sided massacre.

............

After the war, heavy rain came suddenly.

Green's tent.

Green, who was rarely relaxed, communicated with the commanders, and the atmosphere in the tent was harmonious.

Knight Pell, who was soaked by the heavy rain, hurried into the tent where Green was. Pell, who was always calm, now had a trace of anxiety on his face.

Per stood in front of Green and bowed: "Good day, my lord!"

Green's eyes moved, and his brows knitted slightly. "Loyal Knight Pell, thank you for your hard work. Is there any urgent military information?"

Green's calm voice soothed Per's anxious mood: "Yes, my lord! Terror Cave Fort has suddenly taken action. Terror Cave Fort has contacted the friendly wild tribe. They have at least 10,000 people. This is a declaration of war!"

Green took the letter of challenge from Per and glanced at it with interest, his tone tinged with sarcasm, "Oh, the Brun family from Terror Cavern? The Crab Claw family broke the peace of Crab Claw Peninsula?"

The Crab Claw Peninsula, which belongs to the king's territory, is indeed a lawless place. When there is a conflict of interest among the nobles, they will fight whenever they want, and no one will remember the existence of the Red Castle.

According to the laws of the kingdom, the nobles of the royal territory cannot attack each other without the order of the Red Castle.

............

Green stood up and walked to the table covered with a large map. Everyone gathered around him and the atmosphere suddenly became tense.

Everyone didn't wait too long. They stared at the map and pointed at a certain place. "Here, Crescent Valley. We'll crush them here!"

Crescent Valley lies approximately twenty miles northeast of Green's current camp. The valley's entrance and exit are approximately 100 meters wide, while the interior is relatively spacious, with steep sides. The valley's crescent-shaped form inspired the culturally advanced people of the Crab Claw Peninsula to give it the name Crescent Valley.

Green pointed to a flat area some distance from the entrance to Crescent Valley and said, "Per, send someone to inform the Brun family that Kleber will take up the fight. We will decide the outcome here."

According to the information provided by Per, the location chosen by Green for the battle was relatively fair in terms of distance from the positions of both parties, so Green was not worried that they would not accept it.

There are other places with similar terrain nearby, such as Crescent Valley, but Green simply chose a place that was easier for Terror Cavern to accept.

If Terrorhole Castle insists on rejecting all the places chosen by Green, Green will simply give up the field battle, strengthen the defense of the camp on the spot, and rely on fortifications to fight a defensive battle.

The other side has 10,000 people, while Kleber has less than a thousand. If it gets out, it will not affect the family honor.

What's more, Kleber took the initiative to arrange a field battle, and the location he chose fully respected the traditions of the Crab Claw Peninsula.

............

As Green expected, after the coalition forces of Terrorfort and the wildlings confirmed the location, they readily agreed.

The location of the decisive battle was very reasonable and in line with the tradition of the Crab Claw Peninsula. No one suspected that there was any conspiracy involved.

Although he laughed at Green's youthful arrogance and arrogance on the surface, he still admired his courage to fight in his heart, which was very Crab Claw Peninsula.

At the appointed time three days later, Green, accompanied by Emparo, led the tribesmen, auxiliary troops and Kleber soldiers disguised as surrendered prisoners to the agreed battle location.

Among the dark formation of barbarians, the flag displaying the emblem of the Brun family of Terror Cavern was particularly conspicuous.

Green observed that under the banner of the Brun family, there were about 200 soldiers forming neat square formations compared to the surrounding wildlings.

The soldiers of the Brun family had about 50 sets of armor and 20 war horses, making them richer than the Kleber family.

On Kleber's side, riding on warhorses were Green and Emparo, plus several of Green's guards.

The poor Lord Green sighed secretly as he looked at the Brun family's phalanx. The armor and war horses needed for the trip to King's Landing were almost enough, so there was no need to spend any extra money, saving a lot of gold dragons.

Indeed, force is better than hard work.

Green suddenly realized that the Iron People probably understood this maxim in a situation similar to his.

Emparo finished his observation and said, "Lord Green, there are about 50 horses in total. It's a pity that Reina doesn't know how to shoot from a horse. If there were one more person, it would be easier to shoot them down."

Green seemed to be in a good mood, a smile on his face. "I will assign two mounted guards to follow you. Remember to keep a safe distance. Our primary target is the charging cavalry."

No one knew what Green was thinking. No one would have thought that Green's mood suddenly improved because of the Brun family's equipment. At most, everyone would think that the warlike lord was excited about the upcoming battle.

Emparuo said solemnly: "I understand, sir, please rest assured!"

Green reached out and patted Emparo's arm: "Well, I have always believed in you. It's time for you to get a set of plate armor."

Emparo, who thinks in a linear way, understood the meaning of Green's words immediately, which was rare. He and Green focused their attention on the Brun family's formation.
