Chapter 40 - 40

After a simple conversation, Ethan decided to let Elsa take a few women to clean up the zombie group in the hospital. This place would serve as a future gathering point, so its safety had to be ensured. On the other hand, these women, whose loyalty was high enough, could also earn him points by killing zombies.

If someone had more than 80 loyalty, they would receive half of the points for killing zombies, and if their loyalty exceeded 90, they could receive all the points.

Ethan found that as his basic physical attributes improved, more points were needed. His current basic stats were:Physical Fitness: 52 | Speed: 48 | Attack: 55.

This was after clearing out most of the zombies in the hospital over the past few days. Previously, it might have taken 10 or 20 points to enhance one attribute, but now it required 50 points — meaning 50 zombies needed to be killed for each upgrade.

Relying on himself alone, it would likely take a month to reach 100 in all three attributes and evolve his abilities. With his subordinates killing zombies alongside him, that process could be greatly shortened.

Ethan's physical fitness was now nearly five times that of an ordinary person, and such strength brought immense combat power — even beyond that. He was like a miniature Superman.

The explosive force of his punch now exceeded a thousand pounds. Even without weapons, no zombie could be his opponent. Ordinary zombies were taken down with a single punch, and breaking through a group of dozens felt like child's play.

Of course, such great physical fitness also brought an endless well of stamina. Every time Rachel, the little girl, was pushed to her limits, it took a lot of effort before Ethan would finally be satisfied. Sometimes, he even had to persuade the extremely reluctant Elsa to join him in action.

It was precisely because they had fought together — and because of Elsa's guidance in recent days — that Rachel no longer hated her as much.

"You go clean up the zombies. Someone needs to stay at the gathering point," Emily volunteered to stay behind.

There were a total of eight of them, led by Elsa and Rachel. After Ethan broke off from the group, several other women stayed in the middle, all holding various guns and weapons, wearing body armor.

"Bang... bang, bang, bang!" The submachine gun in Elsa's hand roared as her shots rang out, knocking down the surrounding zombies. Her aim was extremely precise — every shot hit the zombies' heads accurately, almost all headshots.

The remaining women, although they had undergone short-term intensive training, were not very skilled yet. Their courage had improved — they no longer trembled or vomited when killing zombies — but their marksmanship was still lacking.

Fortunately, they were equipped with submachine guns. Even with poor accuracy, the dense firepower tore through the undead like wheat being harvested.

"Bang! Bang bang bang!"

The feeling of killing zombies with hot weapons was completely different from cold weapons. There was no rush of close combat — only the roaring of startled zombies and the dull thud of their corpses hitting the ground, pooling blood beneath them.

"What a waste..." Elsa frowned, watching the clumsy shooting of the others. Even though she knew Ethan had emptied almost all the weapons from the police station, wasting bullets like this was unacceptable.

Outside the emergency building, piles of zombie corpses had already formed. At least hundreds. Inside the building, the numbers were much lower. Elsa led the group, clearing floor by floor to ensure that not a single zombie remained.

"Master, are you tired?" Rachel asked cheerfully, sticking close to Ethan. She pulled out a towel from somewhere and wiped sweat that wasn't even there.

Elsa rolled her eyes. These two didn't look like they were cleaning up zombies — it felt more like they were on vacation. They didn't seem to take the threat seriously at all.

However, Elsa had seen Ethan's strength firsthand. When they were clearing zombies in another building yesterday, she had watched him swing a long-handled blade and decapitate three zombies in one motion — as easily as slicing through green onions.

Perhaps because of that, Elsa found herself admiring this powerful man — cold, brutal, and unlike anyone she had ever met. The thought made her heart race slightly.

Elsa had always been strong-willed since childhood. She'd never had much respect for weak men — even her former teammates couldn't hold her interest. Over time, she came to look down on ordinary men.

But since being subdued by Ethan's strength and domineering nature, she found herself... strangely drawn to it. Even his cold, detached manner — something she once disliked — now felt exciting. The man she wanted had always been someone like this: strong, dominant, capable of conquering her. And Ethan was exactly that.

As they stepped out of the emergency building, a scream echoed from the corner.

From behind the decorative bushes, they saw a half-naked woman covered in blood, hair disheveled, not young but still beautiful — her face filled with uncontrollable terror.

Her pale skin was smeared with purple-black blood, forming a grotesque contrast. Despite her good looks, her physical strength was weak. After only a few steps, she tripped and fell face-first.

Two zombies pounced on her before she could get up. Amid her shrieks, her flesh was torn apart, and her internal organs were devoured before their eyes.

There were still survivors in the hospital, but most of the capable ones had already fled. After all, there was no food left inside unless brought in from outside. The few remaining survivors hid in dark corners, too terrified to move or search for supplies, hoping to avoid being discovered by zombies.

The bloody scene didn't stir Ethan's heart in the slightest, but the women around him stepped back in disgust, raising their guns to shoot — only for Ethan to stop them.

He scanned the surroundings calmly, then moved.

In a flash, he closed the distance behind the two feeding zombies. His blade gleamed — one head rolled, and a fountain of black blood sprayed from the severed neck.

The other zombie noticed and lunged at him, claws slashing. Ethan sidestepped smoothly and thrust his machete into its temple. With a wet pop, the creature dropped lifelessly to the ground.

Elsa watched the man fight — his sharp, fearless stance, his swift, decisive strikes — and her eyes brightened. For the first time, she saw how truly commanding he was. Pride and a strange warmth bloomed in her chest. She thought of that same man's intensity fucked her for the whole night, and her face flushed as she quickly turned away. Fortunately, no one noticed.

"Ah, the master is so handsome! I love it!" Rachel shouted, practically jumping in excitement.

[Ding... Elsa's loyalty has reached 80. Congratulations to the host for achieving the milestone of five women with loyalty over 80. The ability-sharing function has now been unlocked.]

At that moment, the system notification echoed in Ethan's mind.

He glanced at Elsa curiously — not sure what she was thinking, but her sudden rise in loyalty was a pleasant surprise. His efforts hadn't been in vain.

Once loyalty surpassed 80, it rarely dropped unless something drastic happened — like Ethan throwing Elsa into a zombie horde. Even if he made questionable decisions now, Elsa's loyalty would hold firm, and she would likely stand by him no matter what.
