Chapter 1056 - The Final Dream

The night of intense tenderness, companionship, and loving devotion shared in the mansion's private chambers gave way to a deeply restorative sleep, lulled by the gentle warmth of the fireplace and the tranquil sound of the night breeze swaying the silk curtains of the balconies. While resting embraced with my companions, whose harmonious breathing filled the environment with an invaluable sense of peace, my consciousness gently detached itself from the physical plane through a state of dream lucidity that often preceded transcendental encounters. Instead of the usual darkness of ordinary dreams, I suddenly found myself projected into an immense, gray, and barren vault, whose titanic pillars seemed to be made of obsidian and ancient bones. In the exact center of that desolate hall, wrapped in cloaks of shadows that hissed like invisible serpents, stood the imposing and threatening figure of the Demon King, watching me with red eyes that burned like embers amid the gloom.

Reflecting on the nature of that dreamlike confrontation and on the meaning of being intercepted by the sovereign of the forces of evil immediately after conquering the forty-fifth floor, I understood that our rapid ascent through the dangers of the tower had been deeply disrupting the plans of the forces of darkness. Each conquered floor, from the arboreal labyrinths and rocky mountain ranges to the mechanical foundries and nightmare sanctuaries, functioned as a direct blow against the power structure that the enemy was attempting to consolidate across the continent. I kept my spirit perfectly calm and unshaken in the presence of the terrifying sovereign monster, knowing that the strength accumulated by my squad through love, mutual trust, and tireless training had made our determination completely immune to any attempt at psychological intimidation or veiled threat.

"I see that you managed to pave your way to the forty-fifth floor through insolent and astonishing luck, young adventurer," the Demon King's deep and hissing voice echoed through the walls of the dreamlike vault, as the monarch of darkness slowly raised a hand clad in black iron toward the void. "You and your pathetic group of women have been collecting easy victories on secondary floors, foolishly believing that the tower bends to your will. But know that the true horrors, the primordial entities that truly sustain the power of the dungeon, have not even awakened from their millennia-long slumbers. When you reach the upper floors, your arrogance will be shattered into a thousand pieces."

"If you consider facing magma colossi, mechanical labyrinths, permafrost storms, and nightmare entities to have been merely a matter of insolent luck, then your perception of reality has been completely corrupted by tyranny and fear," I replied with a firm, serene, and fearless smile on my lips, crossing my arms with an unshakable posture before the gigantic figure. "Every obstacle we overcame served only to prove that unity, affection, and true courage surpass any trace of evil that you attempt to project. We are not the slightest bit afraid of your empty threats, because we know exactly what we are fighting for and whom we are protecting."

"Foolish and arrogant!" the Demon King thundered, causing the obsidian walls of the vault to tremble violently beneath the shockwave of his restrained fury. "Do you truly think that the love and friendship of your companions will be sufficient shields against the cataclysm that will descend upon the world when the final gates are breached? Enjoy your days of false tranquility on the surface, for the day of the final reckoning is much closer than your tiny human brain dares to imagine!"

"Keep your dark prophecies for those who are frightened by imaginary monsters," I retorted in a sharp and absolutely self-assured tone, fixing my eyes on those of the sovereign without retreating a single centimeter. "Our squad will not only break through every remaining barrier of the tower, but will also annihilate every trace of your empire of darkness if you have the audacity to cross our path in the waking world. You may continue plotting in the shadows; we will be waiting for you!"

With one final shrill and dissonant laugh that caused the entire vault to shatter into millions of gray fragments, the Demon King's dreamlike projection dissolved into the air, giving way to a soft and golden radiance that suddenly flooded my consciousness. I calmly awakened at the beginning of the following morning, feeling the radiant sunlight of the capital filter through the curtains and warm the bed where I rested beside my beloved companions.

The morning breeze carried the fresh fragrance of the mansion's gardens, and the absolute tranquility of that moment of awakening crowned the triumphant conclusion of yet another unforgettable arc of our journey. Looking at the serene faces of Liriel, Scarlet, Rai'kanna, Elara, Vespera, Lyannis, and the assistant, who slept embraced in profound peace, I felt an infinite wave of love and gratitude fill my chest. They were the inexhaustible foundation of strength, joy, and motivation that enabled me to face any future threat with absolute certainty of victory. Revitalized, renewed, and with my spirit prepared for the challenges that still awaited us on the deeper floors of the tower, I rose silently to begin a new day, knowing that our legacy of unity and glory had only just begun to be written.
