The terminal descent of the Apex Soulless tore through the freezing mountain sky like a silver lightning bolt. Kiana's entire body was focused on a single point, both void needles aimed directly at Sagiri's heart. Her silver hair streamed behind her as she cut through the air, moving so fast that even the falling snow seemed to slow around her. There was no hesitation in her movements. No fear. No doubt. She had been trained to kill, and everything within her had been shaped to carry out that purpose.
High on Zaira's crest, N'varu screamed a desperate warning. He leaned forward, reaching toward Sagiri as if his hand could somehow pull him out of the path of the incoming attack. But the force of Kiana's speed swallowed his voice. The air twisted around her, creating a silent space that stretched across the mountain peak. By the time N'varu realized his warning could not reach Sagiri, the girl was already upon him.
