Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Levy… why does that sound so familiar?

Sharing a single umbrella with the girl he'd just met, walking along a broad stone-paved avenue, Roland wore a thoughtful look.

"So, Roland, you only arrived in this town today?"

Levy tilted her head, shoulder-length blue hair slanting as she snuck glances at him.

Her free hand quietly pressed over her flat chest; even now she could feel her heart pounding hard.

She couldn't even bear to look away.

Not right. Something's really not right!

This feeling—could this be what books call love at first sight?

Thinking that, Levy's breathing grew heavier, a rosy flush deepening across her cheeks as if she were tipsy.

"Yeah. I just didn't expect to get scammed the moment I showed up…" Noticing the girl's odd state, Roland decided not to ask.

Better to leave her some dignity.

From the town park to where Levy lived wasn't far. Chatting as they walked, they soon reached a large residential building on a hillside.

"FAIRY HILLS"

Staring at the wooden sign hanging above the gate, Roland instinctively looked back at the girl, uncertain.

"This is your home?"

"Nope—it's the girls' dorm I'm renting in!" Levy shook her head quickly.

Girls' dorm?

Roland forced a smile and pressed on, "Aren't men banned from entering girls' dorms here?"

"Of course they are, but—" Levy first checked the entrance carefully, then whispered, "as long as Granny Hilda doesn't catch us, it's fine… plus, we can go in from the second floor."

Why does this feel like we're sneaking around…

Before Roland could speak, Levy handed him the umbrella. Her slender forefinger traced elegant strokes in the air, as if writing letters.

"Rittai Moji: Float (Solid Script: Float)"

With her soft incantation, five translucent letters appeared in the curtain of rain, bobbing lightly like balloons drifting in the air.

Holding the umbrella, Roland blinked at the unbelievable sight—and suddenly remembered.

His eyes flicked to the fair skin at the back of the girl's left shoulder, where a special white emblem was stamped.

And that emblem meant—"Fairy Tail," a wizard guild.

Fairy Tail, huh…

No wonder her name sounded so familiar.

Roland's eyes widened. He truly hadn't expected to land in this world.

After calming down, he exhaled and quickly sifted through what he remembered about this place.

In terms of danger, Fairy Tail was no less intense than any of the big shōnen worlds.

Just then, the girl's cheerful voice chimed beside him.

"Okay!"

Clapping after casting, Levy's pretty face bloomed with a cute smile. "Now just touch the letters and you'll start floating~"

"I see."

Reining in his thoughts, Roland—encountering this world's magic for the first time—reached out curiously and tapped the glowing white letters.

In the next moment, his body drifted upward, as if freed from gravity.

The girl's room was tucked in a corner of the second floor.

The instant Roland climbed in through the window, he saw rows of deep-blue bookcases and books scattered across the floor, leaving almost nowhere to step.

Rather than a bedroom, it looked more like a tiny library.

"Ah, um, I left in a hurry this morning…" Levy, having just shut the window, noticed the chaos too. A bit embarrassed, she scratched her cheek with a fingertip, trying to salvage her image. "So I didn't have time to tidy up!"

Not that tidying would help much…

"It's fine. A room like this actually has a nice vibe." Roland casually picked up a book from the floor, smiling gently.

"Deciphering and Interpreting Ancient Scripts"

He flipped a few pages. Thanks to the Translation Jelly, a single glance was enough to grasp the gist.

More curiously, he could understand the pictured samples of ancient characters as well.

"That book—are you into ancient scripts too?!"

Seeing the book in his hand, Levy immediately scooted closer, eyes sparkling.

She looked exactly like someone who had found a kindred spirit.

"Traveling around, you pick up a bit of ancient script," Roland explained, noticing her excitement.

"Amazing!" Levy sat backward on a chair, propping her chin in both hands, voice full of awe. "And—at such a young age, you're already traveling the world. That's incredible!"

"Not really… I've only been to three or four countries."

Roland rocked his chair slightly and glanced at the rainy night outside.

With the sun fully set, the vast magic within him had ebbed away, putting him back on par with ordinary people.

"Three or four is still a lot. I've never even left the country." Something occurred to Levy, and she hurriedly asked, "Since you've been to so many places, you must have read tons of books, right?"

"I guess…"

"Then could you tell me about them!?"

Seeing Levy's eyes shine brighter and brighter, Roland knew there'd be no early bedtime tonight. He smiled and agreed.

After all, telling stories to a cute girl who'd kindly taken him in—wasn't a bad way to spend the night.

The next morning, soft sunlight slipped through the window and fell gently across the stacks of books.

Levy rubbed her eyes, covered a yawn, and tears glimmered at the corners.

As her blurry vision cleared, the first thing she saw was Roland asleep across from her, both of them dozing face-to-face with heads on the table.

Warm black hair, features refined to perfection, and that black tear-mole at his left eye—together they lent him a unique, irresistible allure.

Studying the boy's face up close, Levy's cheeks slowly turned rosy without her noticing.

So this is what it feels like to like someone?

Feeling her heartbeat thrum harder and harder, she accepted the unbelievable truth.

That she had—fallen for a boy she'd only just met.

"…Morning, Levy."

Sensing the warm gaze on him, Roland cracked an eye open and greeted her amiably.

Before Levy could respond, the system's quest panel snapped into view before him.
