The party was big, heavily guarded and the main guest very hard to see, Susan served drinks for about an hour before the scene felt familiar and she remembered Chris.
"Oh God" she whispered, she finds herself pouting, she really Was looking forward to their date, she find herself comfortable with him, like they've known each other for years. The party went on and she kept thinking of Chris, she knows even she had gone too far with not showing up and she can't seem to get herself to buy a phone.
"I waited for 2 hours "the words made her jump and she was staring at Chris, his looks still stun her, she felt genuinely happy seeing him.
"Are you going to say anything?" He asked and she composed herself.
"I'm sorry, I had to work" she said looking him all over, he looked hot and good looking.
"I wanted to skip this event but what are the odds" he mumbled stepping closer to her she stepped back and he raised his brow.
"I am working, why did you not skip then?" She asked and he took another step closer making her take another backwards.
"Because I needed a distraction, thinking you rejected me again" he mumbled and she shook her head quickly, gaining a smirk from him.
"For how long will you make me wait?" He asked and she opened her mouth to talk but someone came for a drink, with a smile she gave it to him and he began talking to Chris, she slipped away, for a second she was scared of what Chris was going to do and she was more scared of her reaction.
Chris watched her try to avoid him, but she can't hide from him, his eyes are automatically drawn to her.
He approached her after his patient ran out, he took the tray from her, dropping it on a nearby table before dragging her to an empty room locking the door.
"I am working "she pointed out.
"I know" he had her against the door, her eyes searching his before dropping to his lips and back to his eyes.
"Then what are you doing?" She asked, her heart hammering against her chest, he smiled, lifted her chin up and brushed his lips with hers she shut her eyes at the good feeling that ran through her.
"The longer you make me wait, the bigger my appetite for you" his voice dropped.
"I am not…."
"I love this song" he cut her off as "all of me" by John legend began playing, he pulled her away from the door and pulled her closer to him, his hand firmly on her waist and he began moving them to the song, every word was a message from Chris to Susan and he hoped she heard and understood his feelings.
"I am just scared" she whispered after the music stopped, he pulled her at arm's length.
"Scared of what?" He asked and she pulled away from him, hugging herself, feeling Vulnerable, Chris frowned and felt he understood her but it was more than fear of relationship he saw, it was more of genuine fear.
That night left a tension between them, Susan was completely sure she can't resist Chris for long and Chris was worried she would really not be his, but that didn't break his circle of going to the Beast.
"Hey Susan "a deep voice rumbled from next to him and he looked up, his glare sharp at how fondly the voice had called Susan.
"Oh, hi" she smiled and Chris turned his gaze to her, his face didn't hide his anger towards the conversation going on.
"You look more stunning every…
"She knows" Chris snapped taking everyone involved off guard, he turned to Susan who was staring at him with a raised brow. He looked away from her.
"Get your drink and go" he ordered the guy who just chuckled and whimpered a quick "Sorry man" before taking his drink.
"I am not your damn girlfriend, so back off" she snapped and saw the genuine hurt in his eyes, she felt bad instantly.
"It's just a stupid compliment, I am not that cheap" she mumbled wiping the table out of guilt, Chris smiled, seeing right through her.
"I know, which scares me because I might really not have you and I still can't get you to talk nicely to me" he added to lighten the mood because he could see the guilt all over her which worked because she laughed.
"Do big words from me hurt your feelings?" she teased in a baby voice and he chuckled.
"You'll be surprised at things I let slide with you" he told her matter of fact and she bowed before rolling her eyes at him. They both felt like best friends at that moment.
