Chapter 7 - lying To Be Spared

Though part of the reason Clara was so rude and wicked toward Lucas was because of her mother's influence on her. Though Clara hadn't told Jessica that she had divorced Lucas.

"Mum, about the divorce, I already did that some weeks ago, and the useless man has no ties to me anymore," Cara sneered.

"Wow, that's excellent news. Why didn't you tell me sooner? I would have hosted a banquet. That's what useless men like him deserve. I can't believe he was so careless that he let my granddaughter die. She was sick, and he decided to use the money given to him for gambling, failing to take his daughter to the hospital or buy her drugs. I swear you are evil, and the only thing left for you is to rot in hell."

Lucas was shocked after hearing this. Clara didn't tell them the truth about what had happened; she had lied to her mother that Amanda had died from a sickness while she was busy with work. She even claimed that she gave Lucas a lot of money to take her to the hospital, but he chose to gamble with it.

Lucas stared dumbfoundedly at Jessica as she spoke; he then shifted his gaze to Clara. "Is that the lie you came up with to cover your evil act, you bitch?"

"What lies? What proof do you have that I had lied? The death of my daughter is because of you, and guess what, I will make sure you pay for it."

Lucas' anger fled. "You are now blaming me. If you had given that money on time, without wasting my time, Amanda would still be alive."

"What is he saying?" Morgan, Clara's uncle asked. Though all this while he had remained silent.

"Uncle forgets about his lies; he's trying to put the blame on me." Clara shoved her hair to the side, showing no atom of care.

Lucas could see it clearly in Clara's face that the death of Amanda didn't even matter to her.

"You demon," Lucas said inwardly, his fist clenched in anger, and his teeth gritted.

Morgan then stood from the chair he was seated on. He gently adjusted his coat. "Clara, did you tell Lucas about your new wedding, that you would be married to Orion, the son of Thomas, the billionaire who had direct access to the Golden Hue organization?"

"Oooh, yeah! About that, hehe," Clara laughed.

"Umm… Lucas, I will be married to Orion soon. Did you know what it means?" She then raised her hands and adjusted the buttons on Lucas' shirt. "It means that my wealth will skyrocket to the next level. Orion has direct access to the Golden Hue organization, and with that, I will be able to seal numerous deals and contracts with the influence. So I hope you like the news."

Thomas was a very close friend of Derick; they had been working together for years. Though the direct access Clara failed to understand was that it was Thomas who had it, not his son Orion.

Though the information had reached Thomas that Derick was dead, he had already expected it. And he knows that Derick had an heir and had passed all his possessions to him. But Thomas never once knew who the heir was.

Lucas was so shocked after Clara announced the news of her getting married. She didn't even wait to mourn her daughter for up to a month before moving on. This not only made Lucas see that all Clara was doing was intentional but also increased his rage to make sure she pays.

"You are getting married," Lucas asked.

"Yes, of course I am, or do you have any objection to it?" Clara asked, her brow raising.

Lucas's lips stuck; words failed to form. As he stared at Clara.

"Now it's time for you to leave. I don't want to ever see you close to this mansion again. If you do, I swear I will make you sleep in jail," Clara threatened, her lips tugging to a sneer.

"All I asked for was the hard copy picture of Amanda. Once I have taken it, you will never see my legs in this mansion," Lucas said to Clara's face, then pushed her out of his way.

Clara fell to the ground, then twisted her ankle; she let out a loud shout. And in that same moment, Clara Butler rushed towards Lucas and punched him hard in the face.

He pinned him to the ground and began punching him even more. And just then, James bashed the door open, ran towards Lucas, and then kicked the butler in the face.

The butler rolled on the ground. Then he stood to fight back, but as his eyes set on James, he saw how huge he was, with intimidating muscles. The butler lowers his fist slowly, stepping backwards like a snail retrieving into it's shell.

James gave Lucas a hand, and so he raised him from the ground, then walked out of the mansion. They got into the car and rode away.

"Young master, that's why I had requested to follow you earlier; I knew you going there alone wouldn't end well," James bitterly said, his voice slightly raised.

Lucas sighed deeply. Then he looked to the other side of the car's glass window while the car sped down the highway. The thought of Clara getting married kept bothering him; he still couldn't figure out why, but he knew one thing for sure, which was revenge.

"Who is Orion?" Lucas asked.

James shifted his gaze. "Orion? Though I don't know who Orion is."

"My ex-wife is getting married to Orion; I think he should be the son of Thomas," Lucas hinted.

It was then James recalled who Orion was. "Yes, young master, I know who Orion was. His father, Thomas, is a friend of your father. Though Thomas is a very sneaky man."

Orion is a very popular person; not only that, but he was also a playboy. Always having multiple girls around him.

"And also, young master, if you want me to cancel the contract sealed with Blue Raven Companies, then I will be delighted to execute it," James requested.

"Which is the blue raven?" Lucas asked.

"The Blue Raven is the company having a sealed contract with the Golden hue, and the Contract is a VIP contract having a larger share from us that has made the company what it is today, and it's been owned by Thomas, Orion's father. If you give me the go-ahead to cancel the contract, then everything of theirs will crumble, and Clara will be disappointed. This will make her regret ever marrying Orion because it will serve no value to her."
