Last year, she was diagnosed of a heart disease and was to do surgery. The family broke down at the news. She had to quit her job as an accountant because she didn't need to do tiresome stuffs. This didn't discourage her two loved ones, they were determined to work hard to raise money for the expensive surgery, which the doctor said there was high chance of survival after the surgery and it was to be done by next month else she will be in danger after. Whether she was going to survive or not, she had to be happy during her days on earth. She smiled at her husband and daughter, feeling grateful for their love and support.
As River's dad started cooking with River, the kitchen filled with the aroma of sizzling vegetables and the sound of laughter. River's dad regaled them with stories of his farm, making them laugh with his witty remarks.
When the food was ready, they set the table, adorned with a simple but vibrant tablecloth. The spread was humble but delicious, with steaming plates of vegetables, rice, and grilled chicken.
As they sat down to eat, River's dad helped her mom into her seat, his eyes filled with love and care. Despite their financial struggles, they were happy, and River felt grateful for the love that filled their home.
"Mom, Dad, I was thinking of going shopping with Lettie tomorrow to celebrate," River said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Her parents exchanged a warm glance, and her mom smiled. "That sounds like fun, sweetie. You deserve to celebrate."
As they enjoyed their meal, River's determination grew. She would work hard to provide for her family's needs, including her mom's surgery. She smiled at her parents, feeling a sense of purpose and love.
Her dad teased her mom, making her laugh, and River's heart swelled with happiness. "You still make me smile like no one else can," he said, his eyes locked on his wife's.
Her mom's cheeks flushed, and she playfully rolled her eyes. "You're still the charmer I fell in love with."
The three of them laughed, enjoying their time together.
