Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: What Was All the Suffering Before For?

It is a well-known fact that every player is a mobile arsenal.

When it came to pure firepower, Du Mu truly feared no one.

Looking at the stunned terrorists in front of him, Du Mu cracked a grin and decisively pulled the trigger.

The six thick barrels began to spin at high speed, letting out a deep, frightening pre-fire whine!

Seeing this, the bald, burly man's pupils constricted. He roared hysterically, "Retreat! Quick, get out—!"

Da-da-da-da-da—!!!

Before his roar could even finish, the brutal metal storm had already ripped through the air!

The Gatling gun spewed forth a torrent of firepower at a terrifying rate of 6,000 rounds per minute. The terrorists engulfed by the barrage had no time to react and were instantly shredded into countless pieces by the rain of bullets.

A few terrorists attempted to raise their guns to counter-attack, only to be met by an immediate blanket of fire. After they were cremated, there was easily half a pound of bullet casings left behind.

Du Mu, holding the Gatling, didn't hold back at all. He immediately activated his Eye of Death, sweeping away every target within range!

Even the terrorists hiding behind cover and refusing to show their heads were instantly blasted into slag, along with their cover, under the Gatling's devastating assault.

Before the Gatling, all lives were equal!

However, the gunfire suddenly stopped a moment later.

The surviving terrorists, thinking Du Mu had run out of ammo, were overjoyed and popped their heads out, ready to fight back.

Instead, they saw Du Mu putting on a pair of sunglasses. He said apologetically, "I knew I forgot something. Never mind, let's continue."

"You motherf—"

Da-da-da-da-da—!!!

A few minutes later, not a single terrorist could be seen on the ground.

Even the somewhat significant bald, burly man was mercilessly gunned down by Du Mu, contributing 100 Experience Points to him.

"I thought he was a small BOSS. Is that all there was?"

Du Mu was a little disappointed. After checking the mini-map for any red dots, he finally lowered the Gatling.

He walked over to Tony and knocked on the metal helmet. "Hello, are you dead?"

"No, I'm not."

Tony flipped open his faceplate, the shock in his eyes impossible to hide. "Who the hell are you?"

"Didn't I tell you? I'm a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. You can call me Du Mu."

"An agent..."

Tony's mouth twitched.

If you didn't tell me, I would've thought you were the Terminator. One man taking out dozens of terrorists—is this an agent?

"Tony, are you alright?" Yinsen ran over.

"I'm fine, but the armor's power is drained. I can't move now. Hurry and help me take this thing off."

With Yinsen's assistance, Tony laboriously took off the metal armor, revealing the dazzling Arc Reactor on his chest.

"Holy cow, Cyberpunk!"

Du Mu's eyes lit up. He looked at Tony and asked, "Are you selling that thing? Can you install one on me, too?"

"Sorry, it's not for sale."

Tony felt Du Mu was a bit abnormal. After all, what normal person would willingly install a reactor in their chest?

If he had the choice, he would rather not have this thing.

Tony suddenly remembered something and spoke to Du Mu. "Say, Du Mu, could you do me a favor?"

"What favor."

"Help me destroy the weapons here. Leave none behind."

Tony's expression was serious. He didn't want the weapons he manufactured to become tools of slaughter for others again.

[NPC Tony Stark has issued a new quest to you]

[Quest: Destroy Weapons]

[Goal: Destroy all Stark Industries weapons in the camp]

[Reward: 500 Experience Points, Tony Stark Favorability +10]

The reward wasn't huge, but the task was easy enough.

"No problem." Du Mu readily agreed. He pulled a sticky bomb from his game inventory and casually attached it to a crate full of missiles.

Tony recognized the missiles in the crate. They were the latest model from Stark Industries, with a power comparable to the Jericho Missile. A single one was powerful enough to level a mountain.

And there were six missiles in this crate alone!

"Motherf*cker!"

Looking at the bomb ticking and flashing red, Tony's face went green. He immediately shouted at Yinsen, who hadn't quite grasped the situation, and ran like a madman, turning and bolting away.

"Boom—!"

Accompanied by a deafening explosion, a thousand-foot blaze erupted in the valley!

Even though Tony and Yinsen were already quite far away, they could still feel the scorching heat wave hitting them head-on.

Tony and Yinsen were gasping for breath, their hearts pounding, their legs almost giving out from running.

In contrast, Du Mu looked perfectly fine, not a drop of sweat on him, completely unlike someone who had run over a thousand meters.

"You lunatic!"

Tony gritted his teeth as he looked at Du Mu. "You almost got us killed!"

Du Mu looked confused. "Why?"

Seeing Du Mu's look, Tony got even angrier.

"Why?! You should be thankful the timer on that bomb was set long enough! Otherwise, if we had run any slower, we would have been blown to bits!"

"Who said it was a time bomb? This is a remote-controlled bomb. It only detonates when I press the button," Du Mu said, shaking the controller in his hand.

Tony and Yinsen: "..."

Why the hell didn't you say that sooner?!

Before long, a Quinjet appeared overhead and landed in front of the three of them.

Agent Coulson stepped out of the cabin, his expression complicated as he looked at Du Mu. "Didn't we agree to keep a low profile?"

Du Mu replied innocently, "I was being very low-profile."

That explosion could be seen for dozens of kilometers around! You call that low-profile?

Coulson sighed helplessly, choosing not to dwell on the issue. He walked straight up to Tony and extended a hand warmly. "Mr. Stark, hello. I'm Agent Coulson of S.H.I.E.L.D., here to escort you back."

Seeing the gentle smile on Coulson's face, Tony let out a sigh of relief. It seemed that S.H.I.E.L.D. agents had normal people after all.

If they were all lunatics like Du Mu, S.H.I.E.L.D. should change its name to the Insanity Bureau.

Du Mu ignored the two men chatting, his attention focused on the system prompt that had just chimed.

[Main Quest "The Birth of Iron Man" settlement complete!]

[Reward Received: 10,000 Experience Points, Equipment: 'Frying Pan,' Equipment: 'Golden Desert Eagle,' Skill: 'Breathing Health Regen,' Item: 'Bowtie Voice Changer']

[Equipment: Frying Pan (Indestructible, can block all firearm attacks, and can also protect your—ahem—backside)]

[Equipment: Golden Desert Eagle (A Desert Eagle made of gold. Using it will make you the flashiest guy in the room)]

[Skill: Breathing Health Regen (As long as you breathe, you recover health. Automatically restores 5% of HP per second 10 seconds after exiting combat)]

[Item: Bowtie Voice Changer (You can freely switch between a Loli voice or a mature Goddess voice)]

Holy crap!?

Du Mu couldn't believe his eyes.

It was the first time he had seen such a generous quest reward.

Not to mention the full 10,000 Experience Points, there were several pieces of equipment, a skill, and an item just from the rewards alone.

One had to know that the rewards for his previous daily quests were mostly just experience points or trash items like C4 bombs. Only high-difficulty quests had a chance to yield equipment, a skill, or a slightly better item.

Yet, finishing this one main story quest yielded rewards far more generous than what he would get from grinding daily quests for several months!

What was all the suffering he'd endured before for!?

Du Mu was heartbroken. "Coulson, tell Nick Fury... I can't go back now."

Coulson: "???"
