Chapter 5 - Chapter 5, The Greenskin Beast

Just how troublesome are the Greenskin Beasts, known as the Cancer of the Universe?

Gu Hang saw it with his own eyes today.

As the battle drew to a close, he personally led the remaining troops into the battlefield, intending to finally end the fight and also get a close-up whiff of the gunsmoke. Just then, he heard a massive, bear-like roar.

Following that, a mutated giant at least two meters tall, muscular, and robust, with dark green skin, appeared before his eyes.

The creature was nearly naked, with only a few scraps of cloth hanging on it. Clearly, its sudden increase in size had ripped apart its original clothing.

Its skin was entirely dark green and appeared very rough. The firearm in its hands was wildly styled, with most parts looking haphazardly thrown together. In a normal person's hands, it would look like a hand cannon or a rocket launcher, but in the hands of this creature, it was just like a normal shotgun, capable of being wielded one-handed.

Upon its appearance, it immediately drew the attention of the surrounding soldiers. The Servitors aimed their G7 'Assaulter' rifles at it, pulled the trigger, and a fierce barrage of automatic rifle fire covered the mutant.

However, an astonishing sight occurred: this dark green mutated giant took so many shots, yet was completely unharmed!

In that instant, at least a dozen rifles were aimed at it. It didn't fall. The soldiers, holding down the trigger, naturally didn't let go, all emptying a full magazine into it. The Greenskin monster was huge and wasn't moving erratically, so most of the bullets hit the target.

Logically speaking, unless it was truly a man of steel, any creature of flesh and blood should have been shredded.

But it wasn't.

The creature stood there perfectly fine.

Some bullets ricocheted, some lost all their kinetic energy and fell, and some embedded themselves in the skin and muscle but couldn't penetrate further...

Some blood flowed, but it was far from a critical injury.

Kaga, having just completed his transformation, snapped back to his senses after the initial confusion. He still had a shred of self-awareness and knew that even though he had transformed and become stronger, his primary goal was to escape as quickly as possible.

So, he bolted out of the camp.

His larger body and more powerful muscles didn't make him sluggish; instead, they made him faster and more agile. Once he started moving, the Servitor Soldiers'accuracy plummeted.

If he had run without looking back, just charging forward, he might have actually had a chance to escape.

However, during the process, his attention was constantly drawn to the nearby Servitor Soldiers, making him want to attack them.

On the one hand, being hit annoyed him; the bullets fired by the Assaulter rifles weren't fatal but still caused pain. On the other hand, the effects of the elixir were rapidly entering his brain, and a bloodthirsty urge constantly drove him to slaughter.

Finally, he couldn't resist.

He was still running but slightly slowed down. He turned his head, aimed the ugly, crude shotgun in his hand at a Servitor, and pulled the trigger.

Thick black smoke spewed from the muzzle. The cluster of shotgun pellets that erupted instantly blew off the Servitor Soldier's entire upper body. The fragments of flesh and blood splattered everywhere, with quite a bit splashing onto Kaga's body.

The Greenskin Beast, bathed in blood, became even more ferocious.

He racked the bolt, fired again, and another Servitor Soldier died gruesomely.

He tried a third time, but the bullet didn't fire. His shotgun only held two rounds.

Kaga instinctively reached into his chest, seemingly wanting to reload, but grabbed nothing. His clothes had been blown off, let alone any spare ammunition.

He simply discarded the crude shotgun and lunged directly at the third victim.

The targeted Servitor Soldier raised his gun, firing while retreating, but before he could get off more than a few shots, the incredibly fast Greenskin Beast was upon him. With a large grab, the Servitor was lifted up and then physically torn in half.

Holding the corpse above his head, with blood pouring down from above, Kaga was filled with ecstasy and even felt that his already unparalleled physique had reached a higher level. The last sliver of reason he possessed told him that this was the elixir further stimulating his body's potential and might not be a good thing. But that brief concern and struggle were immediately overwhelmed by a tide of fighting desire.

He only wanted to continue killing.

A grenade was thrown at his feet and then exploded, but Kaga had already rolled out of the way before that.

A machine gunner had set up a firing point a hundred meters away, and a stream of bullets whizzed towards him. But at this distance, the combat instinct imprinted in the elixir and diffused into Kaga's blood allowed him to avoid most of the shots with erratic movement while still maintaining his charge.

At this moment, his eyes were blood red. He only wanted to tear the machine gunner to shreds.

But just then, he suddenly stumbled, and his entire body slammed heavily onto the ground due to inertia.

He couldn't feel his left leg, as if it had been severed by something.

Looking down, his left leg was still attached to his body and hadn't sustained much damage. Yet, he couldn't command it to move at all, as if the leg growing on his body wasn't his own.

He used his hands and his remaining foot to prop himself up. Raising his head, he saw a man in fine clothes, protected by several Marines, walking out from behind the machine gunner.

He opened his large mouth, attempting to roar, but a barrage of machine gun bullets struck his body, stifling his roar.

Even the sustained fire of the squad machine gun, which was much more powerful than the Assaulter rifle, couldn't quickly eliminate him. However, the HS3 'Eagle' electromagnetic rifles in the hands of the Marines were on another level entirely.

The electromagnetically accelerated metal spikes were able to pierce his skin and muscle defenses. After four Marines emptied their magazines, Kaga was riddled with holes.

But he still wasn't dead. He still had a breath, and the holes in his body were slowly self-repairing.

Gu Hang walked leisurely forward: "Is this Kaga? The leader of the Doomed Captives? Being able to transform a human... those Greenskins' technology is a bit outrageous."

He didn't really care about Kaga the person, but the condition displayed after this creature's mutation was worrying.

Kaga could no longer speak, only producing meaningless hisses from his throat.

Gu Hang didn't bother to say anything more. He waved his hand, and the soldiers behind him took over the cleanup.

A stream of metal spikes fired from the electromagnetic rifles turned the green beast's head into minced meat.

Dealing with a Greenskin is a complicated matter. Killing it is only the beginning. The places where its blood flowed and where its corpse lay must all be thoroughly scorched with high-temperature flame. Otherwise, before too long, a pile of mushrooms will grow here, then turn into Greenskin runts, then Gretchin, and then Ork Boyz...

Although this Greenskin Beast was likely a sudden mutation of the Doomed Captives' leader for unknown reasons, who knows if a similar situation could arise?

In any case, the battle was over. There was plenty of time to clear the battlefield.

Gu Hang also needed to tally his gains.

[Decisive Victory, Gained 19 Grace Points]
