A golden light screen appeared before Qin Yun.
[Congratulations, you have gained experience.
Level LV5 -> LV6
Skill Learned: Throwing (Novice)
Skill Learned: Battle Cry (Can boost ally morale, intimidate and suppress enemies)
Skill: Close Quarters Combat (Proficient) upgraded to Close Quarters Combat (Skilled)]
This single battle resulted in the elimination of over four hundred mutants.
Apart from bringing level and skill upgrades, it also yielded a generous amount of Faith Points.
Qin Yun's personal kill count was one hundred and thirty, earning him a total of 3200 Faith Points.
Killing one mutant earned 20 Faith Points.
But killing a Chaos Ogryn earned significantly more Faith Points than a regular mutant.
"Looks like the reward for killing enemies isn't fixed. The stronger the enemy, the more the Emperor gives."
Qin Yun decided to save these Faith Points.
He would spend them to enhance and upgrade once he learned powerful psychic or anthema skills.
Who hasn't dreamed of being a wizard?
After Cadia fell and the Eye of Terror expanded, psychic powers began to run rampant.
If he mastered psychic abilities, he would be more confident in dealing with daemons and supernatural entities.
The downside of psykers being easily corrupted by the Warp was a problem for others, but meant nothing to Qin Yun.
Because Qin Yun was a Living Saint of the Emperor. To corrupt him, one would first have to corrupt the Emperor.
Anathema, on the other hand, was the skill granted by the Emperor.
It possessed the terrifying power to manipulate reality and destroy Warp entities.
Although using anathema also required paying a price, Qin Yun was a Living Saint.
As long as the Emperor wasn't taken down, he could resurrect infinitely.
The cost and such, didn't matter.
Later, he could max out skills related to psychic powers and anathema.
Holding a bolter in one hand and a psychic staff in the other, the perfect Warhammer 40k version of Gandalf.
Just thinking about it felt cool.
After checking his gains, Qin Yun waved his hand to close the light screen.
"I need to ask the Emperor when he'll release new pre-registration slots. The little leeks are getting impatient."
The tactical projection hall also had a shrine dedicated to the Emperor.
Qin Yun walked over, lit the brazier, performed the sign of the aquila in prayer to the Emperor's statue, and inquired about when new slots would be released.
A new light screen appeared.
[Time remaining until new slot release: 18:53:45.]
The numbers at the end kept ticking down, 44, 43, 42.
"Still nearly nineteen hours until the next batch of slots?"
Qin Yun sent this information to the chat group.
Corporate Drone Enslaved by the Emperor: "I asked the boss. New pre-registration slots are ready. It's 11 PM now, they'll be released tomorrow at 7 PM."
"I'll post the new pre-registration URL then. Friends who want to play can click to register."
After sending the message, Qin Yun ignored the excited group members and focused on examining the tactical projection of the Imperial Glory before him.
The projection clearly displayed the structure and layout of the Imperial Glory.
The bridge, upper decks, cargo holds, hangar bays, chambers, gun batteries, power reactors, engine rooms, etc.
Qin Yun and the others were currently located on the bridge.
The bridge of a Luna-class battleship was large, including areas like the strategic planning room, tactical projection hall, data processing hub, main communication control room, command hall, prayer chapel, and more.
Qin Yun made an adjustment, changing the overall color of the tactical projection to red.
Then he modified the two areas, the strategic planning room and the tactical projection hall, to green, representing that they had been reclaimed.
"Need to break down the task of reclaiming the Imperial Glory and assign it to the players."
"The problem is, if I want players to do tasks, there need to be rewards."
Qin Yun looked troubled.
The amount of Faith Points the Emperor gave as rewards wasn't even enough for his own use.
Moreover, the Emperor's Faith Point rewards were only obtainable during combat or for making certain major contributions.
Doing routine work didn't yield Faith Point rewards.
Without rewards, player motivation would definitely be low.
Qin Yun knew the nature of players all too well.
They'd follow anyone who gives rewards.
The more rewards, the better that 'anyone' is.
"Still need to think of a way to incentivize the players, to make them diligent beasts of burden."
Qin Yun frowned, thinking for a long time. Combining his years of gaming experience, he came up with a method.
"How about establishing a Contribution Point system?"
"Contribution Points would be issued by me. Whoever completes tasks more excellently gets more Contribution Points."
"Contribution Points can be exchanged for weapons, equipment. Later, when we control a forge world, players can also exchange for mechs, tanks, etc."
"After a player dies, their weapons and equipment drop, unless those weapons have received the Emperor's blessing."
"But that only prevents loss. Each resurrection still wastes a sum of Faith Points to have the equipment come back with them."
"Given player nature, unless it's epic, relic-grade equipment, or they're in a major battle with no time to get new gear."
"Otherwise, they definitely won't waste Faith Points to bless weapons, let alone waste Faith Points to have weapons resurrect with them."
"So, every time they resurrect, they need new weapons and equipment. That way, the Contribution Point system should work."
"It's just that calculating rewards is a bit troublesome. Would be great to have a Tech-Priest skilled in assessment and calculation."
Qin Yun's idea was rough, even full of holes, but he decided to implement it anyway.
"Screw it, as long as it works. It's not like building a nuke; if problems arise, we'll fix them later."
Footsteps sounded.
Led by Warmaster, the five players walked up behind Qin Yun.
"Guide, we've rested. What should we do next?"
"Rested well?" Qin Yun shifted his gaze from the tactical projection to the players.
After some rest and treatment from medkits, the players' condition had improved a lot.
But their numbers were too small; continuing to fight was out of the question.
"For the sake of fairness, I plan to implement a Contribution Point system."
"Resources are limited and must be used where they are most effective. Those who contribute more to the Emperor should receive more resources."
"I will assign tasks to you. After completing them, you will earn Contribution Points. These points can be exchanged for resources I control."
"The previous battle will also be converted into Contribution Points for all players involved."
Qin Yun's words made the five players widen their eyes.
They once again felt the weight behind the term "100% freedom".
"A Contribution Point system? This should be a reward/punishment system separate from Faith Points, right?"
"Is this game so realistic that everything has to start from scratch??"
"Good grief, the game rules are being added as we play!!"
"Aren't the weapons and equipment exchanged for Contribution Points just stuff we fought for ourselves!!"
Qin Yun ignored the players' complaints and continued.
"I've broken down the current tasks into two."
"First Task: Clear the tactical projection hall. 3000 Contribution Points, requires three players. Second Task: Transport firearms to the tactical hall. 1500 Contribution Points, requires two players."
"I choose the first one!" Warmaster was the first to shout.
Complaining was one thing, but tasks still needed to be done.
"I also choose the first one."
"First one."
The other two players also reacted quickly, choosing the first task.
The first task meant 1000 Contribution Points per person.
The second task only meant 750 Contribution Points per person.
The usefulness of Contribution Points might not be as high as Faith Points, but hoarding them couldn't hurt.
Who knows what good stuff the Guide might offer later.
The two slower players looked regretful.
Regret at losing out on 250 Contribution Points.
This game was too realistic; even grabbing tasks was competitive.
