Cassian's POV
The moment Mrs Damien was dragged out and the door slammed behind her, the house exhaled a silence so heavy it crawled into my bones. For a few seconds, I just stood there, breathing hard, nearly undone by fury.
I was this close to snapping Mrs Damien in two, but I loved Alexandro; he was the only person I had admitted I loved, apart from Ms Madison, my mother.
The thought of Celine lying unconscious in a hospital bed, Luciana rotting in my dungeon, still breathing, her father still silent, all made me feel so uneasy.
Too many threads pulling at me, none of them snapping, at least not yet.
I wiped my hands slowly over my face, exhaling controlled rage.
Then I walked to my room slowly, trying to control myself from slipping off and the pace of my heart from beating too fast.
I dialed Madison first.
She answered at the first ring, finished, voice shaking like she had been holding her breath for hours.
"Mr Cassian?"
