Chapter 4 - Infiltrating the Hand Base

Matt nearly choked, utterly speechless. "You really don't treat me like I'm blind!"

"Alright, then." Matt didn't refuse, though. He was already used to Akira's habit of occasionally playing rock-paper-scissors or making bets with others.

Akira played rock, Matt played scissors. Akira won. "Great, I'll pay!"

Akira went to pay with a smile on his face. Matt muttered, "What a strange habit."

[entry]—[Fall Asleep Instantly]: After equipping this Entry, creatures attacked by you have a very high chance of triggering a sleep effect, falling into a coma on the spot.

After understanding the specific ability of the Entry, Akira thought, "The Entry's effect is pretty good."

"This is the place, and it looks like The Hand is still using this as their Base."

---

The two quietly arrived at the rooftop of an abandoned factory building, where many strangely dressed figures were moving around.

Matt distinguished the distribution of personnel inside through sound and said to Akira:

"We can enter directly from the north gate. There are the fewest guards there, and based on my experience fighting them, they rarely use firearms. They all prefer close-quarters combat with cold weapons, which is a great advantage for us."

Daredevil Matt's hearing could already be used like radar.

"Let me state this first: you wouldn't object if I killed a few of these ninjas, would you?" Akira began to declare in advance.

Daredevil Matt was silent for a moment before saying, "They are very dangerous, and I won't hold back either."

"Then let's move!"

Akira put on the glasses equipped with [Superman's Glasses]. He closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, his pupils were tinged with a beautiful, colorful glow: Mystic Eyes of Death Perception.

The ninjas of The Hand were well-trained, making it impossible for Akira to deal with them as easily as he did with the Gang thugs. He could only kill them all indiscriminately.

Daredevil Matt, standing nearby, felt an inexplicable fear, like standing on the edge of a cliff, where a single misstep would send him plummeting.

Taking out his short knife, Akira led the way to the north gate. Whether Daredevil exerted himself or not wasn't important; he just needed him to lead the way.

He quickly and quietly approached the guards. Before the guard ninjas could attack, Akira struck along their most obvious line of death. With two consecutive slashes, the two guard ninjas were cut into four pieces.

The Mystic Eyes of Death Perception are eyes that reverse causality. The two guard ninjas first experienced the effect of death, then the cause of being cut in half. This is contrary to the causal relationship where being cut in half causes death, so all forms of defense are ineffective.

Matt, who had rushed over, 'watched' the four ninja pieces on the ground, his mouth twitching as he followed.

Daredevil Matt could have broken into The Hand's Base alone, but with Akira's help, it was even easier. And he didn't know what these ninjas of The Hand were thinking; they actually preferred close combat, didn't use firearms, and didn't ambush, just liked to clash short weapons with Akira.

Since that was the case, Akira didn't humor them. With one slash per minion, he sent them all to rest.

"I feel somewhat redundant!" Daredevil was a person who liked to joke.

Suddenly, Akira stopped and said to Daredevil Matt:

"Daredevil, it seems we've encountered a mini-boss. His ninja uniform is red, unlike those regular soldiers. He must be Nobu Yoshioka, the one you burned to death!"

Akira stared at the red-clad ninja's head, where there was an [entry]—[Use Flame Fist on Me].

Daredevil Matt was quite speechless; he was blind, so why tell him about clothing colors? But he still recognized who Akira was referring to by scent: it was indeed Nobu Yoshioka, the leader of The Hand, who should have been killed by him.

Daredevil Matt began to question, "How are you still alive?"

Nobu Yoshioka, hiding in the shadows, feigning mystery, spoke disdainfully:

"Members of The Hand are immortal!"

"Not dead means not killed cleanly!" Seeing Daredevil Matt looking somewhat shocked, Akira said, then provoked Nobu Yoshioka:

"Hey, you over there, that little fellow, do you even know the Three Body Technique to be a ninja!"

"An ill-mannered fellow!" Nobu Yoshioka was clearly provoked and charged towards Akira.

"Look how angry he is. Leave this person to me. I can break his immortality!"

Nobu Yoshioka swung the chain with a special dagger attached towards Akira. Akira, as he expected, used his dagger to block.

"Fool!" Nobu Yoshioka shook the chain, intending to entangle Akira's short knife and disarm him. This was his usual move.

"Heh." Akira gently rotated his short knife, and Nobu Yoshioka's iron chain snapped inch by inch. He had killed this weapon.

"What's going on?" Nobu Yoshioka didn't understand why his iron chain had broken, but he didn't have time to think too much. He drew his katana and rushed forward to engage Akira in close combat.

He raised his hand to block the incoming katana with his short knife, then extended his left hand, forcefully slashing across Nobu Yoshioka's right arm.

'Does he want to punch me? How naive, just like a rookie who can't fight. Watch me cut off your head!' Nobu Yoshioka sneered inwardly.

But he quickly stopped smiling, because his right arm detached from his body, simply because the opponent had lightly grazed him.

"Nani!"

Nobu Yoshioka, rich in combat experience, quickly gripped his katana with his left hand, then used slashes to cover his rapid retreat.

Then his katana also shattered.

Nobu Yoshioka was dumbfounded. His katana was forged from carbon nanosteel, far stronger than ordinary alloys. How could it have shattered!

Nobu Yoshioka turned and ran. This person was too bizarre. As long as there's life, there's hope. Although he could resurrect, it would consume a lot of resources, and he didn't want to die unless absolutely necessary.

Swish, swish, swish! Three slashes, and he was left with only his torso and head.

"Don't run! I still have questions for you!"

---

Matt dealt with the remaining Hand ninjas in the Base and returned to Akira, asking:

"Did you interrogate anything out of him?"

Akira shook his head. "He didn't say anything, he committed suicide. His body turned to ash."

'Can someone commit suicide even when they've been turned into a human stick?' Matt wondered. He worried:

"In that case, he'll just resurrect and continue to do evil!"

"Don't worry, his limbs were severed by me. He's completely dead. Even if he resurrects, he'll only be left with a head."

"Strange ability." Matt expressed his incomprehension.

"Don't think so much about it. Our mission is to find the missing children."

Akira finished speaking and walked towards a wall. Matt followed suit, and after fumbling for a while, he made a judgment.

"There's space behind this wall, and I hear heartbeats. There should be a mechanism to open it. Let me look for it."

"No need for such trouble."

Akira used his short knife to stab along the death points on the wall, and the entire wall directly turned into dust.

Matt awkwardly lowered his hand that was searching for the mechanism.

Inside the wall were iron cages, like nutrient tanks, each containing a child with tubes inserted into them, extracting who-knew-what.

Matt's sightless eyes widened, and he angrily cursed, "These damn beasts!"

He stepped forward and carefully opened the iron cages, but he didn't dare to touch the children inside, fearing he might cause them secondary harm.

Akira, meanwhile, came to one of the tanks, took out a photo, and confirmed it was Little David, the child he was looking for.

He checked Little David's condition. Thankfully, though in poor shape, he was still alive.

"Matt, you call an ambulance!"
