Chapter 24 - A test

I wanted to strangle him.

Right here. Right now.

But instead of wrapping my hands around his perfectly smug neck, I remembered the plan—be gentle, be obedient, be virtuous, and never argue.

So, I smiled sweetly and lowered my head, pretending to blush like some shy, docile bride. My cheeks burned from the effort.

Grandpa Su's sharp gaze flicked toward me, as if measuring every breath I took. Then his lips twitched—not into a smile, but into something that looked suspiciously like disdain.

He leaned back, tapping his cane on the floor, his sharp eyes sweeping over me like he was inspecting a diamond and finding cracks.

"Hmph. Apart from her looks, I don't see anything remarkable," he said flatly. "Su Ye, have you lost your sense of judgment?"

I sighed in my heart. I never knew that if Grandpa wanted, he was capable of saying such cruel words. At this moment, Su Ye leaned forward, resting his chin lazily on his palms.
