His presence was too much. Too intense. My breath caught in my throat as my instincts screamed at me to fight, to resist, but my body... my body wanted to submit. I could feel it now—his wolf, hungry, primal—and my wolf, damn her, was stirring in response. She wanted this. She wanted him. I could feel the pull in my chest, like a magnetic force trying to drag me closer.
Lucius's grip tightened around me, his wolf's dominance radiating off him in waves. My heart raced, my breath quickened, and I could feel the heat rising in my body, but not for the reasons I wanted. It was like my entire existence was being pulled into the orbit of this dangerous, unpredictable alpha.
"Mate," the voice inside me whispered again, softer now, as if the word was trying to make sense of the chaos around me.
I shook my head, trying to push it out, but the voice only grew louder, more insistent.
