Having reached an agreement, the subsequent meeting proceeded very efficiently.
Xu Jingyi was appointed Chairwoman, and Lin Ruoyan became the General Manager, overseeing all of the group's affairs
. Xu Jingyi would only attend board meetings and wouldn't be present at the company otherwise.
The meeting adjourned in the mid-afternoon, and Xu Jingyi left, leaving the remaining wrap-up work to Lin Ruoyan.
Xu Jingyi wasn't worried about Lin Ruoyan's ability to handle things.
After leaving, she went straight to a wellness spa.
She had been working hard recently and looked quite worn out today; she needed some pampering.
The spa had a Chinese Style design. Upon entering, there was a courtyard with pavilions and waterside structures, creating a beautiful environment. Inside was a five-story villa.
As she entered, someone greeted her, gesturing for her to follow, and said, "Madam Lin, please come this way."
This title made her frown slightly, but she quickly recovered her expression, almost unnoticeably.
She nodded at the receptionist and followed.
She was led to a private room, and as usual, a technician came to serve her
. After completing the preliminary procedures, the technician left, and she closed her eyes to rest. At that moment, the door was gently opened, and the spa's owner entered.
"Madam, you're here," the person who entered was also a woman, slightly older than Xu Jingyi.
She wore a well-fitting Cheongsam and had her hair up, perfectly matching the spa's style.
"Mm," Xu Jingyi hummed softly. "Chu Yao, is there anything recently?"
The woman called Chu Yao stood respectfully to the side.
Hearing Xu Jingyi's question, she replied, "Madam, there were a few minor issues, but I've handled them all.
Everything is fine for now."
Xu Jingyi didn't react much upon hearing this.
She parted her lips slightly and said, "Mm, the timing is sensitive recently. Keep a close eye on things, and don't let anything go wrong."
Chu Yao nodded and said respectfully, "I remember everything Madam instructed me to do. Rest assured, Madam, nothing will go wrong."
Xu Jingyi hummed again. "If there's nothing else, you can leave now and call A Qing back." A Qing was a technician.
Chu Yao thought for a moment, then bit her lip and said, "Please accept our condolences regarding General Manager Lin."
"Understood."
Xu Jingyi probably guessed she'd say this. The people she managed had avoided the funeral to avoid suspicion.
"Chu Yao, don't overthink it. Continue the business as you did before."
This was exactly what Chu Yao had been about to ask.
Xu Jingyi understood and gave a clear answer, so she didn't say more. "Then, Madam, please continue. I will call A Qing in."
Xu Jingyi hummed, and Chu Yao left. This was her channel; by releasing this information, the others would know what to do.
Afterward, there wasn't much going on. Xu Jingyi finished her facial and skincare routine, then went out for a meal.
In the past, Lin Ruofeng would always be with her. Eating alone always felt a bit bland, and her overall mood wasn't high. She ate something simple and then went home.
Lin Ruofeng's unexpected departure was sudden, and she had been busy beforehand, so she wasn't used to living alone.
Although she had assistants with her, she always felt a hollowness in her heart, an unease she couldn't quite pinpoint.
When she got home, Lin Ruoyan was already back, sitting at the dining table.
The food was already laid out, but she hadn't started eating. She was still typing away on her computer, seemingly… waiting for her.
Before Xu Jingyi even finished changing her shoes, Lin Ruoyan closed her computer.
"Sister-in-law is back? I just finished and haven't eaten yet.
Have you eaten, sister-in-law? Want to eat together?"
There were two sets of chopsticks and bowls on the table, clearly waiting for her, but the words didn't quite match.
It was a clumsy excuse, but it worked.
Xu Jingyi walked over and sat down at the other place setting, picking up her chopsticks. "I haven't eaten either. Let's eat together."
"Alright, please, sister-in-law." The tone was gentle and polite, but also distant.
After the morning's events, and considering Lin Ruoyan wasn't much of a talker to begin with, Xu Jingyi was also a little tired.
So the atmosphere wasn't exactly lively.
They ate in silence, the only sounds in the living room the occasional clink of chopsticks and plates.
Xu Jingyi had already eaten, so she only ate a little now, finishing quickly.
When she was about to go back to her room, Lin Ruoyan stopped her. "Sister-in-law, I want to discuss something with you."
"What is it?" Xu Jingyi had guessed Lin Ruoyan had something to say when she called her for dinner, but she hadn't expected her to wait so long to bring it up.
Lin Ruoyan cleared her throat.
"Since you asked me to stay at home, I only have a bedroom, no study. Which room do you think would be convenient for me to use as a study for a year?"
Xu Jingyi was taken aback; she hadn't expected it to be this.
It was actually a small matter.
This wasn't only her and Lin Ruofeng's home; it was also Lin Ruoyan's.
But since the other person was rarely home, only staying occasionally, she only had a bedroom, which happened to be next to her room.
If she wanted, she could have the housekeeper prepare a room for her. But she was asking her instead.
That showed how Lin Ruoyan felt about her.
She thought for a moment and then said, "Just use whichever room is convenient for you, Ruoyan. This is your home too, no need to be so formal."
"Then thank you, sister-in-law." Lin Ruoyan didn't comment on the last part of her sentence, simply offering her thanks. "Good night, sister-in-law."
After that, the two of them returned to their own rooms, and nothing of note happened that night.
