After his first encounter with the Uchiha family, Bakugo spent many afternoons at the Uchiha house. He only wanted to be with Mikoto, and being a housewife, he knew that whenever he passed by the house, she'd be there. Whether the old man, the dwarf, or the dark-circled boy were there didn't matter a damn to the ash-blond.
Over time, he stopped seeing Mikoto as an attractive woman and started seeing her as a substitute for his mother. He didn't like to admit it, but he missed his parents, especially his mother. Mikoto's presence in his life made his life less miserable than it was. He missed his classmates, even the useless Deku. And to top it all off, without villains, he couldn't be a hero; they had taken away his reason for being. Mikoto had become the pillar that sustained his life. Without her and her kindness... He didn't even want to think about that one.
One of the many afternoons Bakugo spent at the Uchiha mansion, Sasuke returned from training completely dejected.
"This guy..." Mikoto said, shaking her head. "You should take advantage of the afternoons when you don't have classes to rest. You don't have to push yourself so hard, Sasuke."
"But Itachi completed all of his school years in a single year. I feel like I'm further away from him every day," Sasuke said bitterly to his mother.
"Don't overthink it, shorty. I'm sure Haggard cheated, which is why he got it so fast. He looks like a fool, but the bastard is smarter than he looks. Maybe he blackmailed his teachers," Bakugo mused. Mikoto, accustomed to the foul-mouthed nature of her almost adopted son, didn't reprimand him.
"Itachi didn't cheat! You don't know him!" Sasuke exclaimed, raising his voice.
"Don't be mad at Bakugo, Sasuke. You know how Bakugo is," Mikoto said, shaking the blond affectionately.
"I was even trying to cheer you up, shorty," Bakugo retorted.
"Sasuke, you have to know that those were different times. We had just emerged from the war, and the village was in desperate need of more ninja capable of defending Konoha in case of attack," Mikoto explained. "Besides, Itachi has always been special."
Bakugo tensed at this last point. He didn't like hearing Mikoto say that Itachi was special. He felt jealous.
"I'm special too, Mikoto," the blond said haughtily. It was the only name worth remembering in Konoha.
"Of course you are, Katsuki," Mikoto said, smiling at him and ruffling his hair. Every time Mikoto ruffled his hair, Bakugo felt an immense happiness.
—Yeah, of course you are. —Sasuke said sarcastically, rolling his eyes.
"I don't like the tone you used, shorty," Bakugo said, frowning. "Don't you think I'm special?"
"I don't think so, I know," Sasuke replied.
"You're lucky your mom's here, shorty," Bakugo said intimidatingly.
—You always have an excuse not to prove what you say. You're just words.
"Grrrrr," Bakugo growled. "I can't use my power against kids like you, or you'd be regretting it right now."
—Fine. Why don't you show us your power, Bakugo? You don't have to fight me. You can show it off against a tree, Sasuke challenged.
"I'd love to see you in action, Katsuki," Mikoto said enthusiastically, clapping her hands.
"Hmm," Bakugo mused, stroking his chin. "That's a good idea. You're not as dumb as I thought, shorty. Come on, join me. You're going to witness my amazing power firsthand."
The three of them went to the training camp where Sasuke used to train alone.
—Mikoto, take a step back. I don't want to hurt you. —said Bakugo, ignoring Sasuke's well-being.
Mikoto grabbed Sasuke's shoulder and they took a few steps back. She looked at the blond expectantly. The more curious of the two was Sasuke. What if Bakugo really was as strong as his brother? She swallowed, feeling nervous.
Bakugo extended both arms forward. He began performing his sequence to create a massive explosion like the one he performed against Round Face at the festival. First, concentrate the sweat from his body in the palm of his hands, done. Second, secrete nitroglycerin from his sweat. Third, activate the explosion at will... Wait a minute, Bakugo was having trouble with the second step. He couldn't create nitroglycerin!
"What the hell...?" Bakugo thought, terrified. "Am I quirkless like Deku before All Might?"
Truth be told, since arriving in this strange world, Bakugo had yet to attempt to use his power. It was a part of his being, so it never occurred to him that he couldn't continue using it. Besides, he still felt it in his cells. Why could he concentrate sweat, but not create nitroglycerin? He remembered that in his final moments in his world, with his body already shrunken, he had used his power against the red-haired villain. It didn't result in a huge explosion, but it did scorch the villain.
So the problem wasn't his new body. The problem was his new world.

"We don't have all day, Bakugo," Sasuke said impatiently.
"Shorty, I need to talk to the dark-eyed guy urgently," Bakugo said, turning around and heading toward Sasuke. "I'll show you how special I am another day."
"I already knew Bakugo was a barking dog, not a biter," Sasuke thought, pleased to be more powerful than the blond.
"Yeah, sure, another day," Sasuke said ironically. "So why do you want to see Itachi?" Sasuke asked, raising an eyebrow.
"It's hard to explain," Bakugo answered, sidestepping the issue. "Do you know where the bags under his eyes are or not?"
—She's talking to my husband at the police station, but I don't think my husband will care... —Bakugo stopped listening to Mikoto and ran to the Konoha police headquarters.
On the way to the police station, Bakugo was pondering the question of his power. Whatever gave the ninjas in this world such amazing techniques as room teleportation must be what he was missing to activate his power. He had to figure out what he was missing, and he knew no better person to solve that mystery than the boy who, at age 11, became a ninja in the Hidden Leaf Village's special forces.
Seeing the police station door, his heart began to beat faster. He entered without asking permission, receiving sneers from the officers inside. He climbed the stairs with a couple of officers chasing him, ordering him to stop. He opened the office door and there he found the one who could be his savior, just as he had been when he took him to the hospital on the first day of his new world. Inside the office were Fugaku, Itachi, and a young man about 18 years old, about five feet seven inches tall with short, dark hair. Moments later, the two officers chasing Bakugo also entered.
"Chief, we're sorry for the interruption. But that kid runs faster than he looks," the police officer said, panting as he went after Bakugo.
"Don't even think about touching me, asshole!" Bakugo said, preparing to fight if necessary.
"You're dismissed. I'll take care of this. What are you doing here, Bakugo?" Fugaku asked angrily. He wasn't particularly fond of the blond, but he knew his wife adored the little boy, so he couldn't be too harsh on him.
"I came to talk to the dark-circled guy about something very important," Bakugo replied, looking at Itachi.
"Something very important with me? You've got me intrigued, Bakugo," Itachi said.
"Do you know this kid, Itachi?" asked the young man Bakugo had never seen before.
"He's a family friend, Shisui. His name is Katsuki Bakugo." Bakugo didn't correct him, not wanting to waste time arguing. He needed to resolve this problem as soon as possible.
"Let's go somewhere quieter," Bakugo ordered, taking Itachi by the arm, not expecting a no for an answer.
—Bakugo, I'm very busy right now, we'll talk about it later.
—Mine is more important. It's a matter of life or death! Let the old man and the other one take care of it. —
"Go," Fugaku said. "I don't want your mother to scold me for ignoring the child. Tomorrow we'll pick up where we left off."
They both left the police station and passed near the Nakano River. Bakugo, seeing that they were already far enough away and isolated, stopped.
"What was so urgent about life or death, Bakugo?" Itachi asked.
