Chapter 3 - the devs snitched

As Sasha brings Chase to her in-game apartment, someone online messages one of the Devs about the Frost Tree Key and asks if it's real.

[Online Forum/Chat]

Unknown User 1: Any Devs of MMO: Is the Key to the Frost Tree real, or is it just a scam so people play the game longer?

Dev: Yes, it is real. We usually don't tell people about this, but I got permission to, because somebody got the item recently.

Unknown User 2: Wait, somebody got it? Are you serious?

Dev: Yep, recently three players defeated a custom Snow Giant within the Dark Woods.

Unknown User 1: Wait, holy sh*t!

Unknown User 2: OMG, I'm going to kill those BITCHES!

Unknown User 3: Same here!

As people online scramble to figure out who got the item, Lizzy and Riri try to call Sasha multiple different times, but she doesn't pick up.

Meanwhile

Sasha: "So, what do you think? It's not the best place, but it's something."

Chase: "No, no, this is pretty cool. I'm already surprised how good the graphics are."

Sasha: "Yeah, I know, right."

As Chase lies down on the bed, Sasha says, "Okay, you can lie here and take a nap. I can even play music for you if you want." Sasha says this as she giggles a bit.

Chase: "Really? Sure. Thanks, by the way."

Sasha: "Of course. I've got to go run some errands. Whenever you use the apartment, it forces you to pay your rent every once in a while, but when you don't use it, it puts the rent on pause."

"Oh, I'm sorry," Chase says as he looks down.

Sasha: "No, it's fine. Making money is pretty easy."

Sasha: "I'll see you later. Bye."

Chase: "Bye."

Sasha closes the door and leaves. Chase lies down and closes his eyes, listening to the music Sasha played for him.

Chase: "I don't know, I don't feel like anything's happening..."

As Chase mumbles, the system slowly kicks in and pauses the game, putting him to sleep.

Sasha goes to the local player-owned store.

Sasha: "Hey, Matt."

Matt: "Hey, girly, what you need?"

Sasha: "Can you just fix up my gear for me?"

Matt: "Sure."

Sasha un-equips her armor and sends it to Matt so he can repair it.

Sasha: "Thanks, Matt."

Matt: "Of course. See you later."

Sasha: "You too."

When Sasha is walking out of the store, she opens her menu and realizes that she's on Do Not Disturb. When she turns it off, she sees the message:

System Notification: You have 22 messages.

Sasha: "What the hell? Who's texting me, or at least trying to text me?"

Sasha is trying to figure out what's going on when all of a sudden someone calls her.

Lizzy: "Sasha, Sasha, are you okay?"

Sasha: "Yeah, why?"

Lizzy: "You need to log off now!"

Sasha: "Why?"

Lizzy: "We need to talk about the key."

Sasha: "Okay, okay, but why so suddenly?"

Lizzy: "Did you not hear?"

Sasha: "No, what was I supposed to hear?"

Some contacts.

(Calls in the game are not private audio they are public. Anyone that is close enough can hear a call.)

Unknown User: "This is interesting."

Lizzy: "They know about the key!"

Sasha: "Wait, who? What do you mean?"

Lizzy: "The Devs! They snitched! They told people that someone got the key. They didn't say who, but now everybody knows!"
