Chapter 28 - Episode 28

INT. FREIGHT NIGHT FAIRGROUNDS - NIGHT. OCTOBER 31, 2025, 10:45 P.M.

The humanoid figure floated over Blake and Nadia, who lay knocked out on the ground. A golden protective barrier still surrounded the duo, with its hands pushed outwards. Not even showing a sign of a crack after rebounding Evan's entire attack. Gabriel ignored the threat of Evan, instead rushing toward the downed duo, quickly forming two balls of light, not hesitating to heal them of recent injuries. With his creation defending them in case Evan launches another attack, he was worried about spending the time healing them.

While healing them, Gabriel felt a twinge of envy towards the pair, watching them fight the monster. Gabriel sighed to himself, being upset with being forced into more of a support role with the stakes at hand. Ignoring his runaway thoughts, he focused his mind back on healing. Of the two, Gabriel thought Blake was the worst. With his leather jacket shredded, Blake was down to just his white tank top, his body covered in bloodstains with very little bruising rapidly starting to heal. Nadia only had some swelling to her head. The rest of her clothes, while covered in blood, remained mostly intact.

After a couple of seconds , Blake came to, groaning he pushed Nadia off of him. "Geez, for someone so small, you're heavy ass shit." He complained, glaring at Nadia as he climbed to his feet.

"Yeah, yeah, fuck you too, old man", Nadia replied back, doing a kip-up to get to her feet. The small movement made Gabriel cover his face as the bloody water wouldn't get onto his face.

Blake gave her the middle as he stared at Gabriel's. "Aye, want to tell me what the fuck that is Rook?"

Nadia got in Blake's face, ignoring the scowl, as Gabriel rubbed the back of his head awkwardly. "Yeah know it could pay to be a little nicer, especially since he just saved our asses from being killed.", She answered with Gabriel hands on her hips as she glared at Blake.

"Yeah, well made you should but the fuck out.", Blake growled before looking up at Gabriel, the scowl on his face deepening "Don't you find it weird, Rook, she comes in trying to push her way onto the case and suddenly knows so much about the supernatural shit. When before she couldn't even look you in the face without stuttering."

Nadia pushed Blake, making him stumble back a couple of feet. "So what are you trying to say, you old piece of shit? Between the two of us, I'm the only one who wasn't implicated in taking bribes."

Blake summoned the shield on his hand, getting into a fighting stance. "I might've taken bribes, but I've also never worked with people trying to kill and torture humans. Hell just look at the mess around us and I'm supposed to just trust you?"

Gabriel finally stepped in between both of them, white hands big enough to keep them separated appearing out of his palms. "Enough we don't have time to fight amongst ourselves when we have to deal with this giant creature trying to kill us." He chastised both of them. When Nadia and Blake seemed to have calmed down, Gabriel released them from his grasp, taking a step back.

"Tch, I don't like it, or you, but if it's to not die, I'll work together with you.", Nadia offered, putting her hand out for a handshake.

Blake snorted, shaking her hand. "If I find out you lied ‌or tried to set Rook up you'll answer me", he threatened by releasing her hand.

Nadia just nodded ‌. "Can we hurry up and beat this thing! I'm sick and have all of this blood all over my clothes!", she whined. Ignoring the throat since she wasn't worried about Blake at all

Gabriel didn't reply, his gaze turning serious, looking at the direction his creation was standing. "Incoming!", he called out. Nadia didn't reply trusting Gabriel she started glowing purple once again.

"I'm getting too old for this shit", Blake muttered, turning his shield into his two gauntlets. Ramming his fit together as he waited.

Gabriel snorted at hearing that, but couldn't reply as the ground shook. The pool of blood kicked up in the air as Evan landed in front of them. One of his wings bent, his body scorched from the rebound of the light shield. Evan roared into the air, his eyes blood red, his face stern as he clenched his hands. "I'm done playing games with you, I was‌ only going to kill Blake, but fuck this shit! EVERYONE! DIE!", he roared.

Evan's aura unleashed, causing a shake wave to go across the battlefield. Gabriel slid back a couple feet, his knees getting wet from the blood. The wind blowing did not affect Nadia. Blake stopped himself from being pushed back by stabbing the tip of his gauntlets into the ground. Gabriel was blown a few feet back, not having anything to keep him steady like everyone else. Evan rushed forward, Gabriel's creation tried forming a golden barrier shining in front of everyone. Evan roared, his fist surrounded by a dark black aura that quickly shattered the barrier sending the creation flying. It rolled on the ground a few feet before stopping in front of Gabriel.

Nadia charged, meeting Evan head-on. Evan tried to throw a punch, but Nadia jumped over it, running up his arm. Nadia got close to Evan's face and tried to knee him using the momentum from sprinting.

Evan blocked the attack with his tail pushing Nadia's knee back. Nadia quickly grabbed his tail using it to swing around to his back. Evan tried to grab Nadia off his back when Blake ran up and punched Evan in the stomach. Evan felt the blow, but it wasn't enough for him to react. If anything it made him more angry. He tried slapping Blake with his tail, but Blake saw it coming and quickly got his guard up, crossing his arms in an X formation. The hit only slid him back a couple of inches. Nadia finished her climb up his back, running up his head before pushing off, launching herself in the air. With a loud roar, Nadia did a front spin, her right leg extended as she came crashing back to the ground.

Evan looked up, about to attack Nadia, when he felt more blows to his stomach. Blake was repeatedly throwing as many punches as he could. Evan let out a growl and quickly grabbed Blake by his face with his left hand, lifting Blake up into the air. At the moment, Nadia's attack landed. BOOM! Nadia's attack forced Evan to drop Blake as he crashed to the ground, stunned on his knees. Nadia felt a sharp pain up her leg, but she ignored it as she stood up from where she rolled. Moving as fast as she could, her purple area flaring as she threw an uppercut into Evan's face.

Blake, refusing to be left out, turned his gauntlets back into the shield. After Nadia threw another kick into Evan's face, ‌he fell to the side. Blake did a spin back hit and knocked Evan's head back toward Nadia, who threw another punch. Back and forth like a tennis ball, Evan's head bounced around. Nadia and Blake shared a look before both throwing an uppercut into Evan's face, black blood flying in the air as Evan fell backgrounds. His eyes were closed as he didn't move from again, his chest raising slower up and down off the ground.

Nadia fell to the ground, sweat dripping from her face as she panted. Nadia saw a hand in front of her face, she looked up and saw Blake glancing down. "You okay?", he asked, his breathing easy as he helped pull her to her feet.

"Yeah, yeah I'm good just a little out of breath.", Nadia replied, a small smile on her face.

Blake did a stiff nod in reply, but didn't say anything. He walked toward Evan to see if he was still unconscious. Gabriel watched as Nadia followed Blake towards the body, his creation floating behind him okay. As he walked to approach the duo, he saw Evan's body quickly sit up, throwing his arms forward as a gust of wind blew Nadia and Blake away. Gabriel quickly summoned a giant hand, catching both of them before lowering them to the ground.

Nadia stomped foot kicking up more blood, her lips turned downward, her fist clenched at her side. "You got to be fucking kidding! He still isn't knocked out from all of that shit!", she roared.

"I'm just as shocked as you", Blake sighed, his posture showing signs of being tired.

Gabriel decided not to say anything, focusing on Evan's body being shrouded in black smoke. The smoke flowed into the sky as the surrounding air spun. The oppressive aura made Gabriel shiver, his body shaking unknowingly. Gabriel couldn't help but be frightened, though he tried not to show it. Soon the aura died down as Evan appeared, the giant monster form gone. In its place was a man around the same height as Gabriel, he had on the red cloak with black cargoes and boots. The left side of Evan's face had turned black, reaching his blue hair where two horns stuck out. Evan had black armor on his hands that radiated black energy, his tail whipping in the air. While not as menacing the atmosphere with his new transformation was still just as frightening.

Evan had his legs crossed, arms spread apart as he looked up to the air. "Huh, sorry for keeping you waiting, it's been centuries since I've dealt with people this strong." His lips turned upwards, his sharp teeth glistening under the lights in the dark. "Be honest with me, don't I look cuter this way?

Nadia ignored the question, ran forward, purple energy radiating from her fist, "Just go on and die already!", she screamed. She jumped in the air, doing a rotating punch aimed at his face.

Evan just smirked and held up his index finger, the air blowing back behind him as he blocked the attack. "So weak you're going to have to do better than that." He grabbed her hand and threw her on the ground. "You at least could've been kind of enough to answer my question."

Nadia coughed up blood, the slamming leaving a small hole in the ground where her body was. "NADIA!"Gabriel shouted, rushing forward, his creation trailing behind.

"Dammit Rook", Blake muttered under his breath, following to offer back up.

Evan went to stomp on Nadia's chest when a golden shield blocked him from pressing downwards. Nadia quickly used that to push herself up off the ground, using her arms to launch both feet into the air trying to kick Evan in the face. Evan took a step back, dodging Nadia's attack. Nadia rotated in the air, landing on her feet. She sucked her teeth angry that her attack failed.

Gabriel tried to make a creation but failed, his aura turning a bright red. Getting even angrier at failing, he started moving faster. Running past Nadia he threw a right hook that Evan blocked with his left forearm. Evan was shocked because his forearm was numb, and he felt a slight burning sensation. Nadia, using this distraction, threw a roundhouse kick that Evan blocked with his tail. He quickly grabbed Gabriel by his extended arm, throwing him into Nadia, forcing both to fall onto the ground.

Blake charged in, his shield shining brightly in the light, he cocked his arm back before launching the shield forward. Evan slapped it out of the air right before it hit his face. Gabriel's creation summoned a barrier that blocked the fireball that Evan threw. The barrier quickly disappeared as Blake kept moving, re-summoning the shield to his arm.

Gabriel jumped back to his feet, the red aura becoming darker as he came at Evan from the left. Seeing both Blake and Gabriel attacking, Nadia back flipped to her feet, waiting for her opportunity to launch an attack. Gabriel threw multiple jabs that forced Evan to step back to dodge. Blake used this opportunity to turn the shield back into gauntlets, throwing hooks to the body. Evan stumbled backwards, almost being clipped by Blake's hook. Gabriel quickly threw an uppercut that made Evan's head step back. Nadia took this opportunity to jump over the duo and drop-kicked Evan in the chest. The repeated hits sent Evan to the ground, his black blood dripping down his nose.

"Want to threaten to kill me fucker then try harder!". Gabriel mocked his tone dark as the anger and hatred radiated off of him.

Nadia looked at Gabríel and decided not to voice anything as she watched him run forward to follow up on the attack.
