Chapter 84 - Kelsey, I like it when you listen.

Before they left the restaurant, the manager's attitude toward Rhett was completely different—overly attentive and fawning. Kelsey felt incredibly uncomfortable watching all the bowing and scraping, so she couldn't help but glance his way a few times.

Rhett's large hand came down on top of her head, physically turning her face away from the manager and toward him. "What are you looking at?" he asked, his voice a low rumble.

Kelsey didn't answer at first.

After a moment, she said in a flat, emotionless tone, "Nothing. I just think you... have a good relationship with a lot of people."

It was unclear which part of her words struck a chord with him, but Rhett suddenly let out a soft laugh. The sound seemed to vibrate from deep within his chest, a genuine, almost amused sound. He looked down at her, his eyes teasing her like she was a child. "Do you really think it's because I have a 'good relationship' with him?"
