Quiana decided to let the strange moment go, but she couldn't ignore the heavy hesitation she saw in Kelsey's eyes.
The gift had been given. Kelsey knew her friend had something serious to ask.
Not wanting to drag it out, Kelsey spoke up first. "If you have questions, just ask me. I won't hide anything from you."
Seeing her be so direct, Quiana didn't hold back either. She looked Kelsey straight in the eye, her expression completely serious. "What's really going on between you and Rhett?"
Kelsey didn't answer with words. Instead, she just gave Quiana a bitter, knowing smile.
It was a smile that told Quiana everything she needed to know. "He actually dares to..." she whispered, her voice a mix of fury and disbelief.
Kelsey shook her head, her face pale. She reached out and grabbed Quiana's hand, her grip tight. "Please," she begged, her voice hoarse. "Don't get involved in this. I don't want to drag any more innocent people into my mess."
