Chapter 62 - Chapter 62: Champa and Vados

"Huh? So that's how you're supposed to eat it!"

Ignoring Whis's teasing remark, Beerus copied his movements and took a bite of tripe.

"So… so good!"

Beerus's pupils contracted sharply as his body suddenly burst into golden light.

The Old Supreme Kai, Shin, and Kibito all exchanged looks, swallowing hard. Was it really that good?

Unable to resist, the three of them each took a bite.

"What… what is this flavor?"

"It's way too delicious!!!"

And just like Beerus, golden light flared from their bodies as well.

Is this a live broadcast of a food anime? Gran covered his face helplessly. These guys are too much!

Seeing the dishes on the table vanish one after another, Gran quickly joined the fray for the last bites of food.

Clatter! Clank! Bang!

The sound of chopsticks and bowls clashing echoed by the lakeside, accompanied by the groans of Beerus and the others as they devoured every bite.

The scene was utter chaos. The first to tap out was Shin, followed by Kibito, the Old Supreme Kai, Whis, and finally Beerus.

Gran was the last one standing.

He had eaten half a roll of beef, an entire lamb roll, and three large fish…

By the lake sat five beach chairs. Naturally, Kibito wasn't qualified to lie on one. The rest sprawled lazily across the chairs, completely stuffed.

"Gran, your appetite is still as insane as ever," Whis said with a chuckle, reclining comfortably.

"Can't help it — we Saiyans are just built that way."

Gran didn't know the meaning of embarrassment; in fact, he even looked a little proud.

"No wonder Lord Beerus took you as his disciple," said the Old Supreme Kai with a smile. "Not only are you blessed with unmatched talent, but you can cook like this too!"

As the fifteenth-generation Supreme Kai, he knew all too well what Beerus and Whis loved most.

Both of them were hopeless food fanatics. To be honest, even if Gran didn't possess that peerless gift, his culinary skills alone would've earned him a place by their side.

"You old geezer talk too much," Beerus growled, glaring at him. "Didn't all that food manage to shut you up?"

Hearing the exchange between these two clowns, Gran couldn't help but laugh — and then something crossed his mind.

"Oh right, Whis."

"Since my path toward the ultimate state is correct, it's clear I won't be able to reach that form any time soon."

"My current strength and bodily instincts have hit their limit. So… how should I train from here?"

Gran had already cultivated his mind to the state of selflessness, yet he was now at a loss about what came next.

As soon as he said that, everyone exchanged looks.

Even Shin understood Gran's dilemma. The guy was exhausted — he desperately needed a break.

"How should you train next, huh?"

Whis shook his head slightly. "Let me ask you first — are you tired?"

"Tired?"

Gran froze for a moment.

For the past three and a half years, he had trained nonstop. Especially over the last year and a half — he'd roamed the universe, challenging over thirty thousand martial artists. Then, upon returning to the Realm of the Kais, he'd secluded himself for another six months before finally emerging now.

"Come to think of it… yeah, I guess I am a bit tired."

The moment he acknowledged it, his body seemed to sag with fatigue.

Beerus and the Old Supreme Kai exchanged glances and sighed deeply.

How could he not be tired? What took others a lifetime to achieve, Gran had mastered in just three and a half years.

Reaching the dimensional peak of the Kai level — some would spend eternity without ever touching it.

But he'd done it in a flash. Too fast. Too tight. Too much.

"You haven't taken a real break in years. Your mind and body are both stretched to their limits," Whis said softly.

"No matter how great your talent, if you keep pushing like this, your efficiency will only decline."

"Martial cultivation isn't something that can be rushed. That's why we need balance — work and rest in harmony."

"Half a year ago, I was already planning to make you rest for a while. Who would've thought you'd go into seclusion again?"

Whis sighed, his tone tinged with concern. "In your current state, you shouldn't keep training. Take a proper rest for once."

"Rest, huh? Work and rest in balance…"

Gran thought about it and realized it made sense. He leaned back on his beach chair, gazing up at the starlit sky as his eyes slowly grew heavy.

Moments later, he drifted into a deep sleep.

Seeing that, everyone smiled knowingly and turned their gazes skyward.

Beerus no longer slept through his duties. The Old Supreme Kai had finally been unsealed. Gran had inherited the title of Candidate God of Destruction, and even Shin's ignorance was starting to fade away.

At last — Universe Seven was whole again.

Meanwhile, in Universe Six, the twin to Universe Seven…

On the world of the God of Destruction

A chubby, pig-like cat was running back and forth across an open field, panting heavily.

"V-Vados… how many laps left? I can't… can't take this anymore!"

Each step the portly feline took was followed by a wheezing breath.

"Two more laps, Lord Champa," Vados replied cheerfully, hands clasped behind her back. Her tall, elegant figure and high ponytail swayed as she smiled. "You can do it! If you stop now, your diet plan will all go to waste."

"Two… two more laps?!"

"I can't… I can't go on!"

Champa's pace slowed to a crawl as he nearly collapsed.

"Lord Champa, you'd better think carefully," Vados said with a sly smile. "If you don't finish these two laps… you won't get any dinner tonight."

The moment those words hit, Champa's entire body stiffened.

No way!

There's nothing more important in the world — than food!

If he couldn't eat… he might as well be dead!

Gritting his teeth, Champa forced his plump body to move again, dragging himself across the field.

Watching him struggle, Vados covered her mouth, stifling a laugh.

A pampered, obedient cat and a graceful, cunning goddess — who would have thought these two were actually Universe Six's God of Destruction and Angel?

"Vados! Look! I did it! Now gimme food!"

After finally finishing the last two laps, Champa collapsed to the ground like a dying dog.

"Of course, Lord Champa. I've prepared your meal."

Vados gracefully handed him a cup of dark green juice and a slice of dry, brittle bread.

"Huh? I'm supposed to eat this?!"

"No complaining, Lord Champa. It's your diet meal. But if you don't want it…"

"I want it! I'll eat! I'm starving!"

Abandoning all pride, Champa scrambled up and snatched the "meal" from her hands.

He nibbled miserably at the bread, glancing up at Vados with teary eyes.

"Something wrong, Lord Champa?" Vados asked, struggling to hold back laughter.

Taking a sip of the greenish-black juice, Champa's face scrunched into knots. "Vados… I swear you're doing this on purpose."

"How could that be?" she replied sweetly. "You're the great God of Destruction of Universe Six, and I'm merely your humble servant. Why would I ever trick you?"

"Hmm… yeah, that makes sense."

Champa rubbed his tiny head, not finding any flaw in her words.

With a pitiful groan, he went back to gnawing on his miserable "diet set."

Vados could barely contain her laughter, but then her expression shifted.

"Oh right, Lord Champa," she said suddenly, her tone serious. "I heard from my elder… it seems Whis and Lord Beerus have taken on a new disciple."
