Three more days passed.
Gran's mastery of Destruction Energy had grown steadier, and at last, it was time for him to leave the Realm of the Kaiōshin again.
Under the great divine tree, Gran stood with young Broly at his side, facing Whis and Beerus.
"Whis, help me with one more thing," Gran said, his hand resting firmly on Broly's shoulder.
"Speak."
Whis held his staff lightly. As long as the request didn't violate any major principles, he had no reason to refuse his disciple.
"Help Broly gain the ability to survive in outer space."
Gran patted Broly's shoulder.
A Legendary Saiyan like Broly could survive briefly in the vacuum of space with sheer physical resilience—but long-term survival was another matter altogether.
To gain that ability, one could
— elevate one's dimensional level to the Yama-class through Dimensional Cultivation,
— make a wish to Shenlong,
— or ask a true angel like Whis.
And whether angels could accomplish such a thing?
There was no need to even ask.
An angel could revive a dead person with a casual gesture.
(As Whis did for Frieza after the Tournament of Power.)
Granting someone the ability to survive in space was, comparatively, child's play.
"A trivial matter."
Since it wasn't Gran who was requesting the ability, Whis didn't mind. He waved his staff, and a soft light sank into young Broly's body.
"Alright. From now on, Broly can survive in space."
Whis added with a playful tone,
"Of course, if someone stronger than me interferes with him, he might lose that protection."
Everyone: "..."
In Universe 7, who could possibly overpower Whis?
"Then I'll head out to train my Destruction Energy. Take care, everyone!"
Gran waved at them.
Broly mimicked him, bowing politely as he'd learned over the past days.
With a sharp whoosh, Gran took Broly and vanished from the Realm of the Kaiōshin.
Left behind were the Elder Kai, Shin, Beerus, and Whis.
As for Kibito—Shin had sent him off long ago to survey the universe firsthand.
The Kaiōshin Realm was vast, filled with gentle grasslands and drifting clouds—tranquil and idyllic as always.
A short while after Gran's departure
"Whis, how long do you think Gran will need to refine his Destruction Energy to the rule level?"
Beerus clasped his hands behind his back, staring at the point where Gran disappeared.
"Why do you always ask that sort of thing?" Whis sighed.
"A few days ago you even said Gran would need half a month just to comprehend Destruction Energy."
This guy—weak, impatient, and always eager to guess wrong.
Beerus: "..."
"Relax. Everything is within my expectations. He'll definitely finish in time for the next stage of my training plan."
Whis said no more. He lifted his staff and left with Beerus in a streak of light.
Northern Galaxy — Periphery
Only a scattering of lonely planets drifted in this starfield.
On a green world, two figures suddenly materialized on an open plain.
Their arrival immediately alerted the local wildlife.
"ROAAAR!!"
A dozen bison-like beasts charged toward the newcomers.
"Oh? Fresh ingredients the moment we land!"
Gran's eyes lit up.
"Broly! Go get them!"
"Okay, big brother Gran! I'm on it!"
Broly pumped his small fists and dashed forward like a tiny engine, launching straight into the herd.
However
BOOM!
These beasts couldn't withstand even one punch.
Broly turned the first into a cloud of blood on impact.
"..."
How was he supposed to cook that?
Gran rubbed his temples and stepped in personally.
A flash of white light
bang, bang, bang!
All fifteen bison dropped cleanly to the ground.
Gran's control was perfect:
every beast lay neatly on the grass with a single, fist-sized wound on the neck.
Blood drained cleanly, the corpses tidy and identical.
"Bleeding them like this removes the gamey smell."
Gran dusted his hands, then pointed toward the forest.
"Broly, go get me some firewood."
He could cook with energy, but real firewood always tasted better.
"Yes, big brother Gran!"
Broly had tasted Gran's cooking back in the Kaiōshin Realm
if he wanted good food, he had to behave.
A minute later, he returned dragging a hundred-meter-tall, freshly uprooted tree.
"..."
Gran's mouth twitched.
Who the heck grills meat with green timber?
He had to go gather dry wood himself.
After preparing the bison, Gran tossed out a Capsule—one he had received from Bulma.
It popped open into a huge cabinet full of spices.
As a devoted foodie, Gran never traveled unprepared.
Soon, thin wisps of fragrant smoke curled into the sky, and the scent of roasting meat spread across the plain.
Before long
A massive bonfire blazed on the grasslands, and more than ten skinned bison were propped up on long branches in a huge circle.
The scene was spectacular.
"Big brother Gran, I thought we were going to destroy a planet. Are you planning to destroy this one?"
Broly sat casually, far less timid after spending time with Gran.
"No."
Gran shook his head.
This planet was just a relay used for Instant Transmission.
The one he intended to destroy had no detectable life energy at all.
"That's good," Broly chuckled, staring hungrily at the roasted meat.
…He smiled?
Gran followed his gaze
only to see the roasting bison.
He sighed.
He thought something was wrong—turns out the kid just hated wasting food.
"Alright, time to eat."
After a while, Gran stood and looked at the dim lifeless planet hovering in the sky.
"Once we're full, we'll go destroy that one."
