The Third Hokage stared deeply at him, then nodded silently.
He had underestimated this young man far too much.
To think that he and Danzō had once dared to plot against someone like him… they truly deserved what they got.
Arata stretched his arms lazily. "If that's all, I'll take my leave.
Been a long day....I'd rather go home and rest… maybe visit Mikoto too. Haven't seen her in a while."
The Hokage saw that Arata was preparing to leave and quickly spoke up.
"Arata-kun, the information you requested from Danzō's side is also ready.
Would you prefer to fetch it yourself, or shall I have him send it here?"
Arata raised a brow, mildly surprised. So even Danzō managed to organize his research? He hadn't expected that.
With all the experiments that man ran, compiling data wasn't easy.....it seemed Danzō had already made a habit of keeping his files tidy.
"Have him send the materials here," Arata said at last.
"I'd rather not step into that gloomy place of his.
If I see something that annoys me, I might not hold back and just kill him."
The Hokage nodded in understanding. He himself disliked the Root base....it always reminded him of his fallen disciple, Orochimaru. Every visit reopened old wounds.
"Also," the Hokage added, "Danzō has already recalled Yakushi Nono from her mission.
She should return in about half a month. As for the Lightning Release Armor from the Hidden Cloud, there's still no progress."
"Let her report to me directly when she returns," Arata instructed.
"Erase all her Root records. As for the Lightning Armor, don't rush. Her safety comes first. I don't need it immediately."
For Arata, the second stage of the Lightning Armor was merely an enhancement.....useful, but not essential.
He planned to copy the Uzumaki mother and daughter's bloodline and vitality soon.
Once his own body strengthened, he could face the Raikage himself and take the perfected version directly.
It might hurt, but with Uzumaki resilience and a semi–divine physique, he'd survive it easily.
The Hokage agreed. If Arata wasn't in a hurry, there was no reason to risk valuable spies in Cloud Village.
By the time Uchiha Arata finally left the Hokage Building, dusk had fallen.
He'd spent too long coordinating Danzō's data transfer and discussing with the Hokage how to discreetly divert resources to the Uchiha clan.
After all, managing a clan that large required vast supplies, and if Konoha was willing to foot the bill.....well, Arata wasn't going to complain.
In his eyes, this was the time for the Uchiha to grow stronger, to expand the clan's bloodline and prepare for the future.
Even their vice–chief led by example, with Mikoto's "help," of course.
As for finances? Konoha could handle that part for now. When the Fourth Great Ninja War was over, it would be the Uchiha's time to rise and sweep across the world.
Finishing those thoughts, Arata finally stepped out into the cool evening air.
As he walked through the quiet streets toward the Uchiha district, something caught his attention.
At the far end of the street stood a familiar figure....Uzuki Yugao—waiting quietly under the fading light.
The soft wind brushed her hair, making her look ethereal, almost glowing in the twilight.
Arata couldn't help but smile. He walked up to her and extended a hand.
Yugao's cheeks turned a delicate shade of pink, but she shyly placed her hand in his palm. He gently clasped it, leading her down the street.
"Why didn't you go home to rest?" he asked, his tone soft. "Waiting here for me.....aren't you tired?"
A blush crept up Yugao's ears as she lowered her gaze. Her voice was quiet but firm.
"I was worried about you. When Kakashi-senpai and I left, they kept you behind.
With the tension between the Uchiha and Danzō recently, I wasn't sure of the Hokage's intentions.
I didn't know what else to do… so I waited. I thought, if night came and you still hadn't come out, I'd run to the Uchiha district and tell them the Hokage had kept you.
At least then your clan would know."
For a moment, Arata just looked at her.....this silly girl with her honest heart.....and felt a rare warmth swell inside him.
His usually sharp gaze softened, filled with quiet affection as he gazed at the blushing face of the foolishly brave Uzuki Yugao.
Uchiha Arata lowered his gaze, eyes soft as he looked at the foolish girl before him.....Uzuki Yugao.
For someone qualified to join the ANBU, she wasn't just some naive student from the Academy.
Anyone chosen for the ANBU had undergone a series of brutal trainings...physical, psychological, and ideological.
The first rule drilled into them, second only to loyalty itself, was secrecy. Yugao was no child; she knew the price of betrayal.
The ANBU operated directly under the Third Hokage.
