Chapter 103 - Chapter 102 : Uzuki Yugao Faces the Wolves

The top priority of its operatives was absolute loyalty to him.

If Yugao dared to leak information to the Uchiha clan because of Arata's influence, the consequences would be devastating.

If discovered, the lightest punishment would be immediate expulsion from the ANBU.

With such a stain on her record, her career as a ninja would be finished...reduced to a mere civilian, under constant surveillance for the rest of her days.

The harshest punishment, however, was far worse...complete removal of her ninja and civilian status, imprisonment for no less than ten years, and exile from Konoha upon release.

The anime might show Konoha as a cheerful, warm village, but reality was different.

Konoha was the largest military force in the shinobi world.....a semi-militarized state where betrayal, even in thought, was intolerable.

This foolish girl.....by preparing to reveal something to the Uchiha.....had already resolved herself to face any consequence.

But to deceive Uchiha Arata? Impossible.

Ever since awakening his Mangekyō Sharingan, Arata's spiritual perception had heightened to frightening levels.

His intuition bordered on that of a sensory ninja; lies and deceit were as transparent to him as glass.

Unless Yugao possessed the cunning of veterans like Orochimaru or the Third Hokage.....which even legends like Jiraiya and Tsunade lacked...she had no chance of deceiving him.

Suppressing the sudden urge to ruffle her hair, Arata instead squeezed the hand he was holding.

Feeling the warmth and strength in his grasp, Yugao lifted her head.

Her eyes met his, reading the unspoken emotions in his gaze.

Then, she smiled.....a radiant, sunlit smile that made Arata's heart skip a beat.

The evening sun cast a golden glow across her peach-tinted cheeks, the breeze playing with her hair.

For a fleeting moment, it felt as if that light had entered his heart.

Arata paused for a moment, silent. Then he tightened his hold on her hand and said, "You must be hungry.

You've worked hard today. Let me treat you to some grilled meat tonight—eat as much as you want."

Yugao's eyes sparkled. Feeling his hand around hers, she nodded enthusiastically.

"Alright! Don't regret it—I can really eat."

At Konoha's most famous barbecue restaurant, Uchiha Arata and Uzuki Yugao ate to their hearts' content.

Since mastering the Lightning Release Armor technique, Arata's appetite had grown tremendously.

Yugao, a sword user who trained her body relentlessly, could match him bite for bite.

Together, they devoured enough food for ten people ..six portions for Arata, four for Yugao.....leaving the staff whispering and glancing at them repeatedly, wondering if they were secretly from the Akimichi clan.

After finishing, neither felt like strolling around the village.

Both had just returned from missions, exhaustion lingering in their bodies.

They wandered hand in hand through the quiet streets.

When Arata subtly steered their path toward the Uchiha compound, Yugao noticed but said nothing.

She merely shot him a quick glance, then followed along silently, a soft blush creeping across her cheeks.

Arata, seeing her lack of resistance, felt his heart surge with delight.

Trying to remain composed, he continued walking, pulling her gently along.

As they entered the Uchiha district, curious eyes followed them.

Though it wasn't bustling at this hour, many clan members were still outside chatting.

And when they saw their brilliant young deputy clan leader bringing a girl home for the first time, conversation stopped entirely.

The older Uchiha smiled knowingly.....Arata was at the right age to date, after all.

But the younger women... their eyes practically shot daggers, glaring at Yugao as if she had stolen something sacred.

Uchiha Arata was the clan's strongest talent, already overshadowing even Shisui's reputation.

Handsome, powerful, and highly respected, he was the dream of countless Uchiha girls.

Until recently, Arata had kept his distance from them.....he'd planned to flee the village before fate changed.

Otherwise, he might have already had a few "close friends."

Yugao, realizing just how popular Arata was, felt her heart pounding as they walked.

Every few steps, she could sense those fiery, jealous stares burning holes in her back.

Still, none dared to approach. Arata wasn't just the clan's strongest fighter.....he was the deputy leader.

His authority and strength were second only to the patriarch and elders.

No one would risk offending him, especially with most of the elite Uchiha currently stationed at Whirlpool Island.

Thus, despite the tense stares, Yugao safely reached Arata's home.

Once inside, she finally exhaled in relief. She patted her chest dramatically.....setting off a soft ripple.....and sighed.

"That was terrifying! I didn't expect you to be that popular.

Did you see how those girls looked at me? Like they wanted to eat me alive!"

Arata chuckled softly, closing the door behind him.

He didn't answer....just stood there, watching her talk.

As seconds passed, Yugao's voice gradually faltered, growing quieter and quieter... until she realized her mistake.

She wasn't out of danger—she had merely traded the wolves outside for the tiger inside.

Now that the door was closed, the only threat left... was Uchiha Arata himself.

The air thickened. The seconds stretched. Yugao's heart pounded faster and faster, almost leaping out of her chest.

Head lowered, she felt his shadow draw nearer....closer... and closer...
