We appeared outside the pack grounds, Luna and I. Yes, I knew her name.
"What's with these portals and not going far enough?" I mumbled to myself.
I turned to the girl who was still shook by her near death experience. "Stay close if you plan on making it out alive." I warned.
She nodded and followed closely behind me as we made our way through.
"Why can't we just leave in a car or something else other than this?" She asked.
I shrugged. "Are you as dumb as you look? I just rescued you from being killed, everyone would be looking for you, they'd look for any car, they'd look at any means of transportation that may be suspicious."
I stated simply as if it was not obvious enough. What was I expecting from her?
She was silent but there was a certain fire in her eyes and I think I heard her thoughts. "I am not dumb, I wish it was your brother who saved me."
"Thank you for saving me," she muttered quietly, as soon as she noticed I was staring at her. It was a contrast to what she actually thought.
I felt a tinge of anger and jealousy. I just ruined my relationship with my best friend, and she couldn't even appreciate my efforts.
I shook my head."I don't give two shits about you, I did it for my brother," I stated plainly. Even though it was a lie I tried to tell myself.
She was stunned into silence again, I could tell she was hurt and it somehow got to me, but I ignored it, just like I ignored the urge to grab her and kiss her when I found out she was my mate some hours ago.
We reached the edge of the trees."Wait here, nature call," I said and stepped away.
The wind was picking up as if it were warning me. It felt cold and sharp against my skin but I ignored it.
A few minutes later, I returned to see that she was no longer there.
Silly girl, I could still smell her. I followed her scent only to see her struggling against a man who had his hands roaming over her body. He looked very young and stupid. Luna looked frightened as he pulled on her arms. It made sense why I had felt that way earlier.
I charged towards him and killed him right then and there without even thinking. I stood over Luna with an arm on either side of her to keep her safe. It didn't matter how scared she looked, she was going to be fine. Luna gulped and took in a few deep breaths.
"You...you killed that guy…"
"What? Did you think I was an angel? Moreover, he was going to force himself on you. Why did you run away?"I growled.
She sighed heavily, her shoulders slumped in defeat. "I don't know if I can trust you. Shouldn't you be happy that I was gone? You wouldn't have to babysit anymore."
I felt the anger bubbling inside me. I had risked my life to save hers, killed two people in less than a day for her, but she didn't think she could trust me cause I wasn't Kayden.
The urge to abandon her there increased, but even I knew the mate bond was stronger than my pride.
I took a deep breath to diffuse my anger and cornered her against a tree, I could see the shock in her eyes, smell her minty breath and there was a scent she had that made me lean in longer to inhale.
Who was this woman and what was she doing to me? I felt my blood rile up and I could feel the presence of my wolf but I stopped him.
I put a magical collar on her. "Stay close and if you try to run away, it's going to pull your right back to me, over and over again. You belong to me now, you can't escape." I explained and she nodded slowly.
When we finally arrived at my pack, I took her into a room and locked it behind me, I didn't trust her not to do anything stupid.
I headed straight for my room, to the bath. I stumbled upon my favorite witch, the one whom my brother hated so much. Scarlett. She was having a bath.
Her luscious body called for me but I quickly reminded myself that there were more pressing issues.
"Get dressed and come with me,"I commanded sharply and she complied almost reluctantly. She quickly got changed and joined me as we made our way back to the guest room.
"This is Luna, make sure she is well-fed and bathes regularly, I want her to be healthy. No accidents will happen in this pack, do you understand me?" I demanded.
Scarlett looked shocked by the intensity of my tone.
"I am not a maid." She blurted out. Her tone reeked of jealousy as she glared at Luna. Luna, of course, stared at her with wide eyes.
My face grew hot with anger and embarrassment, this woman didn't know any better. "You are not a maid, you are here to serve me, and that you will do." My voice rose slightly as I emphasized my statement further. "You will give Luna everything she wants and protect her no matter what."
"Yes," she mumbled, still not meeting my gaze.
Later that evening, I came back to check on the progress with Luna. Since I was with the key, I didn't knock, I opened it right away only to find her clothed in see-through nightwear.
She saw me and suddenly hugged herself in a bid to cover up. She was uncomfortable, but I bet she wouldn't mind if it was Kayden.
This must be a joke.
"Don't" I ordered. My eyes roamed her hungrily. "Do you have any problem with nudity? You belong to me so don't you ever cover up." I stated firmly.
Her eyes widened slightly and she inhaled sharply.
